Time is accepting Person of the Year nominations, and it’s started to publish some recommendations in the latest issue. Bill O’Reilly nominated our troops in Iraq and Afghanistan, while author and AEI scholar Ayaan Hirsi Ali picked Obama (which will obviously be the magazine’s choice, since they held their nose and picked President Bush after he won re-election in 2004). The more offbeat choices came from Oliver Stone (sneering over Sarah Palin) and female novelist Curtis Sittenfeld (cheering for Palin-trashing columnist Kathleen Parker):

Willingness to repudiate spin? How is not spin to portray yourself as an abused maiden of electronic mail, a Dixie Chick purged by Stalinists? It’s repudiating spin to suggest John McCain picked Sarah Palin because he had the hots for her bod? I’m still trying to figure out why the Christian right is bringing "armband religion" to the GOP, if that’s not a reference to the Nazis. Liberals can admire Parker if they wish, perhaps even admire her "courage," but it’s not credible to deny she’s offering spin.

I never said she was dumb nor do I try to make her out to be dumb, she did that to herself in her interviews. The paper question was inexcuseable, the others only proved her lack of experience by not knowing how to handle those questions. With most of the other questions it was not that I expected her to have some of the answers but she could not handle dealing with those types of questions - that is a big deal.
While I don't think she is dumb, I hardly consider her a source intellectual wisdom.

Palin has been the mayor of a small city for several years and the Governor of a state for two years. Both of these positions required her to manage and direct bureaucracies. Both required her to propose bugdets to legislative bodies and carryout the laws enacted by those bodies. Both required her to set executive policy, make appointments some of which were subject to the approval of a legislative body and oversee day-to-day operations.
Obama as far as I can tell has only ever occuppied one executive position in his life outside of academia, that of Chairman of the Board of the Annenberg Challenge, a charitable organization which by any reasonable measure, failed to achieve a anything of its stated goal, the improvement of public education in Chicago. This is not to say that it failed in its covert agenda, to spread socialist ideology amongst the young.
No brainer: Palin over Obama. She actually has some experience governing as a chief executive. Obama's resume is empty.

Yes, there was disagreement during the primaries as there always is. The two biggest problems we had with the primaries were...
1. The Dems (and media) chose our candidate.
2. The only true Conservative running was not up to the battle for whatever the reason.
If we stick to choosing real, honest to goodness Conservatives as candidates we can win and win big. That means we need all around Conservatives to run, not one social conservative, or one fiscal conservative, etc, but a well rounded all American Conservative in the form of a Ronald Reagan.
You are right though, if the GOP is not willing to go back to Conservative principles, I strongly urge us to either create or adopt another party.

As much as I consider you a true friend, I cannot, or will not, be able to do as you ask. This election taught me a hard lesson, which unfortunately was taught to me by liberals... give no quarter! If PT wants to express his opinions that's fine, it's a free country. But when he starts putting people like Comrade Obama in the same catagory as Sarah then I'm going to push back and push hard.
Plus, over time I have come to learn that PT's still very pissed off that he could NOT convince us to vote for Mitt Romney, so I think some of what he says is just to get a little revenge. Then on top of that, he just admitted that he voted a 3rd party for president, which means he helped to get Obama elected. Was McCain a good choice for us... hell no, but he with Sarah was a million times better than Comrade Obama. Hell, you know me, the only reason I voted for McCain/Palin was because of Sarah. But then the choice of a communist president was also unthinkable. My goal is to do everything possible for the future of Conservatism and to fight Communism at all costs. If it means pissing off PT, so be it.
Anyway, I still love ya, but will not be showing PT any love for the foreseeable future.

I agree Obama is completely unqualified to be president but to claim that Palin is more qualified is a stretch of the imagination made in desperation by people who feel like they are being personally attacked when Palin is. I understand, the media has been relentless in attacking her on ridiculous issues but they never had to go past the basics. NB overnight became the Palin defense network on a scale I had never seen before.
The GOP choose to play the democrats game of identity politics, instead of picking the most qualified person for the job like they preach. Choosing Palin was nothing more then affirmative action to placate social conservatives. She was chosen because she was a women just like Obama was chosen because he was black. Now you can either admit that or stay in denial but the truth is still the same and my opinion on this will never change.

Neither Romney nor Rudy need to be in a position where their decisions impact the national climate. From what we all know of Gov. Palin, it is clear that her worldview, combined with her experience, equip her to better make crucial decisions than either of those two.
