Liberal-media legend (and long-time UPI White House correspondent) Helen Thomas returned triumphantly to the White House briefing room yesterday after a bout of bad health, and the blog Fishbowl DC has video of an interview with reporter Ken Herman of Cox Newspapers. When Herman asked (superfluously) who she voted for, Helen said Obama. Why? "Because I really thought he was a great gift to democracy that it would show the American people were fair and balanced, and honorable, and understood [it] didn’t make any difference in terms of race, color, creed and so forth."
Voting for Obama showed the American people were fair and balanced? That would be a rather elastic defense for all the pro-Obama bias.
Helen started by claiming "I’m still as mean as ever," and tried to work up a complaint about Obama: "He’s going after all the old Clinton faces. Why? Doesn’t he know anybody?" Herman asked: "No honeymoon from you for the new president?" Helen said "No way...He’ll get one day, maybe."
Video of her arrival in the briefing room came complete with conservative talk show host Les Kinsolving joking "Here she comes! Everyone genuflect!" Helen and Les may be the only people with White House press passes dated before the age of Disco.

Funny, how we toothless, shoe-less, knuckle-dragging rubes in flyover country go from being bitter, wild-eyed racists in a day's time. I'm sure that the only people she considers honorable and understanding are the ones who voted for Obama; just as I'm sure that, to Helen and her ilk, "the American people" only refers to those living on the two coasts.
One other thing: Helen, please don't insult anyone's intelligence by claiming that you are going to be tough on Obama.

Wow, wow, wow...
November 13, 2008 - 18:32 ET by ConservativeMissourianDid I hear Helen Thomas say that Obama is "a great gift to democracy" in her interview?! HAHAHA. I find it hilarious how Obama is very much an ideal, not a person. Americans look at him and see a mirror. The mirror shows the potential for fulfillment of THEIR wants and needs, not his actual positions on issues. Obama takes care to preserve himself as this "ideal" with an actual, hidden substance so that he can symbolize "hope" and change" in any way that people want "hope" and "change." Although, in actuality, Obama is not a proponent of true democracy, but that's what Thomas wants to see in him so that's who Obama "is" in her mind. If individuals would actually evaluate Obama based on his track record as a senator, they would see that Obama's views do not strengthen democracy, but weaken it into a form of socialism.

As far as her liberal tendencies, that is where I don't respect her or any main stream journalist. Their job is to report the news objectively. Obviously, that is not happening and it's a mockery to the profession of jouralism.
As many have said before, electing Obama made a lot of people feel good about their own ideas of change, not for the change that is actually going to come out of this social experiment. That wide-reaching change will shock a lot of these people and make them feel duped.
Of course, if they actually had any common sense in the first place, they would have seen it coming. The absence of common sense is ignorance.
