Lee Boggs found that ABCNews.com augmented a generic horse-race campaign story by Mark Mooney on Monday morning with this slanted "photo illustration" -- or is it some sort of movie poster, with obvious Good Guy vs. Snidely Whiplash overtones? Or just JFK vs. Nixon? Mooney's article suggested Ohio was up for grabs between Good and Evil:
McCain started the week with good news in the Buckeye State, which was critical in President Bush's win over Sen. John Kerry in 2004 and Vice President Al Gore in 2000.
An Ohio Newspaper/University of Cincinnati poll indicates the Ohio race is a statistical dead heat, giving a 49-46 edge to Obama.
Could this agitprop art be more over the top -- on a "news" site?

Just got the Nov. 3 issue of Time, and did a little survey of my own.
Number of Obama images: 11
This includes a 2-page wide shot of Obama addressing a Woodstock-sized crowd with the arms outstretched in adoration) with the caption "Crowd-pleaser: Obama greets an estimated 100,000 supporters at an Oct. 18 rally..."
Number of McCain images: 2
One of these images is a tiny cartoon of McCain making a stupid face, surrounded by, surprise, Obama and Biden. The other is a 1/2" x 1/2" floating head of a grimacing McCain.
The only image of Palin is on the Letters page, with this caption (an excerpt from a reader's letter): "Palin and Fey have more in common than just looks. They are both better entertainers than politicians."
Pretty fair coverage considering it's just a week before the election, huh?

If they were doing for a humorous punchline, I see no problem about it. But if it was done for a legitimate news piece, that should be subject for some investigation.
