Time magazine devoted its "Ten Questions" from readers to actor Alec Baldwin in its latest edition. It doesn't really get political until question 8:
How do you feel about your brother Stephen's conversion to Evangelical Christianity? —Nicolas Christy, Austin, Texas
If it wasn't political, I probably wouldn't have anything to say. But the Evangelicals who say AIDS is payback for homosexuals—you don't see liberals saying Hurricane Ike is payback for the Bush family living in Texas. I think that my brother really is very devout and very dedicated, and none of that bothers me until it becomes political.
On the other hand, Baldwin professes to enjoy his skewering in the puppet movie from the South Park crew:
What did you think of your puppet in Team America: World Police? —Mahmoud Salem, Cairo
I thought Team America was so funny. Kim Jong Il would say, "You are usewess to me, Awec Bawdwin." And I'd go to school with my daughter, and her classmates would say that as I walked by. I hear these little kids go, "You are usewess to me, Awec Bawdwin." And I'd be looking at them like, Ha, ha, great— back at you there, Kim Jong. I thought that movie was hysterical. Those guys are insane.
I'd like to hear the tone of that "ha, ha, great" after the 10th time or so.

But Alec you just did.
Plus wasn't the Democrats who said God was on their side when Gustav hit during the RNC.

As for Alec... so what if there's political rational behind your brother's conversion. You're problem isn't that it's about politics; it's that it isn't about your politics.

September 19, 2008 - 08:35 ET by mbuelYou know I always find it funny when liberals blame God for teh AIDS virus (or claim conservatives do).
What's funny about that? It's evolution that has provided AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases to encourage mankind to not be promiscuous. Whether or not you believe God drives evolution or it's just random acts of chaos is up to you, but it is an evolutionary force.

September 19, 2008 - 12:47 ET by TruthMongeri've been wondering - if our world is so "natural" (according to libs like bill maher) and that "there is no God" then where does disease come from?
Would a naturally evolving world evolve diseases? If so then why? Libs tell us that nature perfectly balances and maintains itself - why would it create disease...?
The Bible says disease comes from sin - indicating that man has supernatural capability outside of "nature..."

well...
September 19, 2008 - 17:32 ET by mbuelEven if one accepts the purely Gaia view of Earth liberals have, it means that we have to accept that certain behaviors (that conservatives call immoral) encourage the spread of disease and death.
Evolutionary response to these forces is to NOT act "immoral", because to do so would encourage the spread of disease. In fact there was a recent study that teenagers are becoming more abstinence out of fear of catching said diseases.
"Libs tell us that nature perfectly balances and maintains itself - why would it create disease...?"
I'm not going to try and explain the liberal mindset, but will explain my own stance on this. The universe requires balance for functionality. Good/Evil. Moral/Immoral. Healthy/Diseased. etc.
Where the modern liberals fall down is in their application of moral relativism, and calling light dark, and dark light. They confuse and purposefuly obfuscate the truth, so that they can committ their immoral actions without having to worry about their own self judgement. That is WHY THEY HATE conservatives.
We recognize good and call things such. We recognize evil and call things such. We recognize and judge morality.
Palin has accomplished great things, while Obama has continued to make empty promises that the world owes you a living.
Isn't that interesting, Alec
September 19, 2008 - 08:55 ET by Mike BrattonBeing an evangelical Christian, I know a lot of other people who are evangelical Christians. I read and listen to a lot of other, well-known evangelical Christians. And let me think... Hmmm... You know, not a single honest-to-goodness evangelical Christian mentions the notion that God deals in "payback."
However, Alec, I know of a number of prominent liberal types who wrongly insisted--some, while laughing about it--that God sent a hurricane as "payback" to conservatives.
Stephen's got it all over you in every area that counts, Alec. You should listen to him.

September 19, 2008 - 14:28 ET by Dan The Man 2You know, not a single honest-to-goodness evangelical Christian mentions the notion that God deals in "payback - The notion God deals in payback is not all taht farfetched. God nuked Soddom and Gomorah, He said he would return as Jesus and decimate the unbelievers, He wiped out teh earth in His wrath by flood. He brought plagues down on Pharoh.
Nuke em til they glow then shoot em in the dark.
You are remarkably uninformed.
September 19, 2008 - 16:44 ET by Mike BrattonGod did not "pay back" Sodom and Gomorrah, He punished them.
God did not "return as Jesus," since Jesus is God, the Second Person of the Trinity.
The Noahic flood was not "payback," but, again, punishment, as were the Egyptian plagues.
Payback implies the need to get even; God doesn't need to get even with anyone.
Again, not a single honest-to-goodness evangelical Christian would even mention the notion that God deals in payback. You have something in common with Alec: a significant lack of information in this area.

It is a powerful testimony of what Jesus has done in his life. It is an entire church service, so if you are just interested in hearing him talk, fast forward about 45 minutes into the service:
