In light of the networks echoing Obama-campaign hypersensitivity on how Bush was allegedly comparing Obama to Nazi appeasers before the Knesset, as liberals suggest this is the lowest campaign tactic in years, talk-show hosts will probably notice that on The Huffington Post, it's apparently fine for that old Democratic campaign star Gary Hart to simply compare conservatives to Nazis, not to mention the authoritarian tendencies of those robotic "pre-programmed neo-conservative dittoheads":
Historians of early 21st century American politics will remark the degree to which radical forces, usually called neoconservatives, perverted language as recommended by the National Socialist Party in 1930s Germany. Continue to demonize liberals, blame them for all social and economic problems, and soon enough no one will be willing to admit to being a liberal. Claim that liberals and Democrats are too soft to combat terrorists and soon enough a majority, even in the oldest democracy on earth, will believe it. Open up entire electronic networks, such as Fox, and chains of radio stations, such as Clear Channel, and buy enough newspaper chains, and make all these media available to pre-programmed neoconservative ditto heads, and sure enough a subculture will emerge which distrusts its own government and believes that an entire political party is not to be trusted.
This has all happened before. And where it has happened, authoritarian government emerges.
What?? Conservatives build an alternative media (much of it during the Clinton years) to challenge a suffocating liberal media consensus, and it's a sign that America's on dangerous road to dictatorship? Does Hart seriously believe that during the Bush years, liberals haven't been trying to build a "subculture w hich distrusts its own government and believes that an entire political party is not to be trusted"?
From, there Hart shifted-gears in mid-paragraph to lament that liberal-pleasing McCain has morphed into a Bush Republican:
Worst of all, a formerly "maverick" Republican, one who was sensible enough to understand the dangerous perversions involved in this radicalization of American politics, will find himself repeating the idiotic mantra that we are "fighting al Qaeda in Iraq so we don't have to fight them here."
John McCain knows better. I know he knows better. But it is appalling when a serious patriot like McCain is forced to fall into line with these radical perverters of language, one of the most dangerous things that can happen in a democracy, in order to lead a party that is so far off the mainstream rails that it will take decades to return to civility and normality.
If John McCain seriously believes we are at war with al Qaeda in Iraq, that alone is such a serious error in judgment as to rank him with George W. Bush at his worst and therefore disqualify him from any chance to govern this country.

Pinch me I must be
May 16, 2008 - 08:39 ET by HypocriteHaterPinch me I must be dreaming. We've just been graced with the presence of the policital genius that is Gary Hart!
Keep putting those blinders on to reality, Gar, and stay out of the way of the real men who know how to fight the bad guys and protect their country. Do you still have the "Monkey Business" to sail away on?
what?
May 16, 2008 - 08:51 ET by ort777What? I didn't hear that. I'm sorry, I have to take off my "Official Dittohead Brainwashing Helmet" to hear anything a liberal says. Did Gary "In Heat" Hart say something?

But of course...
May 16, 2008 - 08:55 ET by FoolicanThe conservatives are Nazis, and the Nazis are conservatives!
Because the Nazis believed in smaller government with little interference in people's lives, they believed in Biblical principles that exercised tolerance of other religions, and most of all, they believed in the right to life for all children.
You aren't condoning...

May 16, 2008 - 08:56 ET by taterThis is the libs big arguement against conservatives and it's weak. If you say anything against their ideas you're all sorts of names or a brainwashed Rush listener. Heck I was called a Rush listener when I was debating one about the whole Islamic regime. I don't listen to Rush at all...but they will be quick to pigeonhole you. Maybe we should just call them all Huffers or Kosbabies, then watch the heads roll.

The New Fascism
May 16, 2008 - 09:14 ET by Kirk TurnerHart has it backwards. The liberals are the true stewards of the German socialist legacy.
Here are the key components of fascism:
Government control of business (Global Warming)
Cult of Personality (Obama)
A promise of Utopia (Liberals)
Suppression of contrary opinions (Use of "racism" threats to control honest debate)
Antisemitism
Minimizing religion while elevating government to an almost God-like status
It couldn't happen here? Well, it is coming down Broadway. Can you see it? It walks like fascism; talks like fascism; and quacks like fascism. They only want what is best, and you better G*&m well let them have it, or else.
It's fascism, American style.

Just don't let him speak
May 16, 2008 - 09:32 ET by KC MulvilleAll of the people who consider themselves to be deep Democrat thinkers [pause to allow laughing] are rushing to the airwaves to denounce Bush on Obama's behalf.
Why? Two reasons:
You know what's ironic? Bush talked about appeasement in foreign policy. But when it comes to dealing with Democrats, Bush has been as much an appeaser as anyone. Everything he said about the intransigence of enemies applies equally to Democrats politically. For the Democrats, it's all take and no give, and yet Bush keeps hoping they'll work with him. Then they stab him in the back, laughing as they do so.
Maybe ... maybe ... Bush's speech signals that he finally gets it. He's been sitting quietly in the White House since the midterm election. The whole point of the presidency is to use the bully pulpit to lead, and fight if necessary. Well, damn it, if Bush wants to lead conservatives, he'd better get out there and fight. If you believe in something, and it's being threatened, you don't hope the enemy will back off. Instead, you fight for it. That was part of the logic of the Knesset speech, and it should be the logic of the last year of his presidency. Remember, this is a guy who beat the Democrats twice, with all the media against him both times. He may be useful yet.
Notice how the debate goes with both sides...
May 16, 2008 - 09:35 ET by c5thenConservatives generally say that Liberals are wrong and wrong-headed and that their policies are ill-conceived and sometimes dangerous.
Liberals generally say that Conservatives are evil and fascists and out to create tyranny, etc. They never just critisize the idea, it's almost always personal with them.
So I ask, who is less civil and who has "...lead a party that is so far off the mainstream rails that it will take decades to return to civility and normality"?

Nazi
May 16, 2008 - 11:57 ET by ScrapironLet's see now. Hitler was elected and immediately overrode the vote of the people by using Nazi judges (court system) to take over the entire country. This week we have, in Ca, four liberal (democrat) judges overriding the 'majority' vote of the citizens of Ca. The road to Nazism is being paved by the democrats at a fast pace. I only hope they will be happy to see their own children under the oppression of someone like Hussein. That is Hussein Obama by the way. If people are too blinded by politics to see what is right in front of them then they will get what they deserve, just like the German people did, but this time there will be no one to pull their a** out of the fire. As I said, I'm old, retired and will make it to a natural end, will you?

The GOP's well on its way to being the Dem-lite party, but no "No true Scotsman"s, okay? ;) With McCain as the national face of the party, these judges seem entirely too in line with party ideology for my comfort...

I still trust McCain's judicial picks more than Obamas. Obama's will be Ginsberg at best whereas I think McCain could pick a Roberts. Some chance is better than none at all. It's kind of pointless to even guess about it though because McCain will never win.
Hmmm.
May 16, 2008 - 12:19 ET by sarcasmoThen it's a good thing we have a "2 party system" for "choice," eh? See why I hate ballot restriction laws so much? Now they're indirectly letting an entire "major" party off on an issue. I still say they're Republicans in the end, and at the moment I'm not too impressed with Republican judicial appointees.
I'm just wondering how conservatives will square outrage over the government overruling the will of the people when it comes to gay marriage, but somehow it's ok for big government to do the exact same thing in the same state when it comes to medical pot. Justice Thomas warned this day would come in his Raisch dissent, and he was/is-still right. The 9th and 10th amendments either limit government or they don't. No both ways.
