I'll admit that I enjoy Nora Ephron's books. They're entertaining and simple, just like her perception of how the country picks the next president. I also linked her dislike of nasty, old white men with her failed marriage and other relationships in her life that went south.

I don't understand people's beliefs that only white men vote. Do they really think that women, young adults, and minorities don't also have the same opportunity to pick our next president? It's not old, white men vs. the rest of America. This just baffles me.  

Can you imagine the outrage if someone like Sean Hannity wrote a column that said "White women can't be trusted" or "Black people can't be trusted"?  We'd hear about it for weeks.

Robert Novak has an interesting column today about the connection between the Thomas Frank "What Is Wrong With Kansas?" theory and Obama. (Frank's theory is that the Right seduces citizens to vote against their own economic interest by confusing them with 'social' issues.) Obama's comment about "bitter" racist white folks clinging to guns and religion is a prime example. Now, Nora supplies another example. Ephron has a self-fulfilling worldview, undisturbed by reality. Again, I can't help but recall the Pauline Kael blurb about Nixon's election, that she didn't think it was possible because she personally didn't know anyone who was going to vote for Nixon. That same cluelessness is busily at work here.

Nora is offended that other people disagree with her. She follows the liberal pattern. Liberals often reveal their inability to grasp intellectual difference. A few years ago (I believe after the 2004 election), Thomas Friedman wrote a self-revealing piece in the New York Times. He always took it for granted that "separation of church and state" meant that people should not bring their religious ideas into the polling booth. It surprised him that other people didn't take the same for granted. However, since the respect for individual opinion is at the heart of conservatism, it isn't surprising that these liberals have no clue about why they keep losing elections.

If voting for a candidate "who could have been their father or their brother or their son", automactically makes someone "biased" and "racist", then what do you call the more than 9 out of 10 African-Americans voting for Obama?

The radical "feminist" movement has never been about high-minded idealism and equality. It has  always been about acquiring power and influence. That so many white man so easily gave up their power is fascinating. They are doing it again in this election cycle.  Like it or not, the white man built America, fought and died to keep its ideals and its way of life. Then, beginning in the 60's, he rolled over, quit the fight, and became the modern "liberal" whimp. A consequence of this was that more women became "men" and men became "women". Continuing this trend is what people like Nora Ephron depend upon and exploit to the fullest. Androgeny stinks! Sad.

This country has become so racist against Whites, it's just insane. Imagine if someone said "Black Men Shouldn't Pick Presidents". That would be called "hateful, and racist". But, it's perfectly fine to use racist terms against "Whitey", isn't it? Barack Obama has been going to an obviously racist, anti-White church for the past 22-years, and he's leading in the polls. Could a white person do the same? He would be forced to withdraw from the race and his political career would be over for good.

Obama talks about "togetherness", but refers to whites as, "those people" and no one really cares. Obama calls Reverand Wright his "moral compass" and even dedicated his book to him! They've been best friends for 22-YEARS! But, that doesn't matter. Why not? Because Obama is only half-white.

On Obama's churchs' website they talk about the Black family, Black community, Black education, Black soldiers, Black values, etc. Obama is running for president and he believes in this churchs' value system!! Proof? He's been a member for 22-YEARS! He's also said his heart is "commited to AFRICA"! Where does that leave the rest of us?? The whites, the Asians, etc? It's fine to fight for your own people, but NOT good for a person that wants to be the next PRESIDENT OF AMERICA! He's admitted he's not commited to America, but Africa! If a white person dedicated a book to someone like David Duke for example, or said he's dedicated to a foreign country, that would be career suicide.

WAKE UP PEOPLE!! STOP BEING RACIST AGAINST WHITES!

Give me Margaret Thatcher...you can have Hillary. Give me Clarence Thomas...you can keep Obama. If white men don't decide the election, we'll have one of two socialist/elite idiots running the country.

Hillary's and Obama's values are "what is good for me and can get me elected".
Hillary - born and grew up in illinois, married Bill Clinton and they spent most of their adult lives in Arkansas where he eventually was elected Governor. After his term in the Whitehouse ended, where did they move to so Hillary could run? New York, because it was the most powerful Senate seat open at the time.

Obama joined a racist church because it would make him look "more black" to the voters, and that was apparently important to them for his State Senate seat run. Now that it is an issue, he basically posits that if you don't vote for him, you must be racist.

McCain is a moderate populist who is trying to convince half the country that he's conservative and the other half that he's not TOO conservative. While it may be argued from a conservative perspective that McCain is the "Lesser of the three evils", I refuse to vote for evil, be it lesser, greater or whatever.

The day that "politician" became a career choice is the day we started losing the Republic. Let's get it back! Alan Keyes '08.

I served in the military for years, been stationed all over the world and had the privilege to visit a lot of countries. I can tell you from my experience that American white men treat American white women and any other race of American women for that matter, better than any other men in any other country that I've been to. Even other white countries like France, Germany, Russia, etc.. I realize American white men have a ways to go with white women equality, but the equality here in America for gender, race, religion, etc., are still far better than what the rest of the world offers, bar none.

Call me racist male chauvinist pig if you want, I am mostly Native American, and have no reason to lie. I'm giving you my opinion on what I saw first hand. Go look and experience for yourself. Places like Asia, Africa, Middle East, (not Israel), etc, etc... I feel sorry and pity for these women. I was stationed in modern Japan once, slowly being westernized, but still, the Japanese women come second after the men. Middle East countries like Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, Turkey are the worst, equality and rights for women in these countries date back to the Stone Age.

It's the American white men that these feminist have issues with. Where is the outcry from these feminist for the women in these backward countries.

I would vote for a white woman or a black man for POTUS, just not this white woman (Hillary) and not this black man (Obama). Sorry, I'm voting for the white man McCain come Nov..
