The Fox & Friends crew welcomed both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama on their airwaves on Wednesday morning. The Fox hosts were cheerful, but a bit tougher than in previous interviews this year. Here's the most interesting part of the Hillary interview, where she sends Rush Limbaugh a message:
STEVE DOOCY: Let me ask you, let me ask about this. Over the last week or so, Rush Limbaugh has been suggesting to his listeners, Republicans, conservatives mainly, to go ahead in Texas and Ohio to vote for you. What’s your message to Rush Limbaugh today?
HILLARY CLINTON: Be careful what you wish for, Rush.
GRETCHEN CARLSON: Is that it?
CLINTON: I think that’s it.
DOOCY: Do you think you wound up with some crossover Republicans who did help you?
CLINTON: No, I don’t. I don’t think so. I, I think that in fact there was a concerted effort I know of in Texas to get Republicans to vote for Barack. You know, in the end of the day, what difference does it make? We had great victories yesterday.
She also joked about being a real human after hearing that her Saturday Night Live cameo humanized her:
CLINTON: Well, you know, I know that the, the continuing analysis goes on. But, you know, I have a little secret, which I will only tell Fox if promise not to tell anybody else.
DOOCY: Thank you. Yes, it’s our secret.
CLINTON: You know what? I really am a human being. I know, I know that’s hard to believe, but it happens to be true. And occasionally it kind of pokes through and people get a peek at it, but- I had a lot of fun on “Saturday Night Live.”
Obama was interviewed by Brian Kilmeade, and he asked about Saturday Night Live, too:
KILMEADE: But “Saturday Night Live” did this whole skit. They lasted it for two weeks, and many people are giving it credit for turning around Hillary Clinton’s fortunes. Does that bother you and was it accurate? Was the press giving you an easy time?
OBAMA: Well, you know, I don’t think it’s accurate. You know, the truth of the matter is, is people seem to forget that for an entire year, Senator Clinton was the putative favorite and everything she did looked like it was working, and everything we did looked like it wasn’t working. And, you know, what happens in the media is that whoever is winning tends to look like a genius. And whoever is losing looks like an idiot. And, you know, that’s sort of the nature of the news cycle. But in fact, you know, we have been subject to plenty of scrutiny during the course of this campaign, in fact, Senator Clinton in some ways has avoided a whole lot of scrutiny on a range of issues. But, ultimately, I don’t find complaining about the refs all that useful. I think that what we’re going to do is continue to talk about the issues that matter to people. Are we going to help them find a job or get health care or make college more affordable or get their loved ones home from Iraq? Those are the issues that really matter to folks.

Bringing Hitlary back in this is a VERY bad idea
March 5, 2008 - 23:44 ET by PopularTechI do not think voting to bring Hitlary back into this is a good idea. Hussein is much easier to beat once you divide the Hitlary supporters among him and McCain. There are many white women who do not want to vote for a black man. I am sorry but it is easier to beat Hussein and anyone who thinks differently has no idea the emotional attachment women have when voting. I have heard repeatedly from women, even conservative women feeling bad for her over Bill's infedelity and Obama "attacking" her or when she cried. They have even said it would be cool to have Bill as first man. Asking women not to vote for Hitlary is like asking someone who is black not to vote for Obama. Don't be fooled the Anti-Hitlary rhetoric is male based and this is a very dangerous and stupid idea yet certain idiot conservative bloggers keep bringing this up.
It will be incredibly difficult for McCain to beat Hitlary as he has nothing that appeals to the base women voter. Rudy had the personality and Romney the looks, McCain has neither and has anger issues.

Except that half the voting
March 6, 2008 - 04:33 ET by ckc1227Except that half the voting population, men and women, hate Hillary and will never vote for her. Many women won"t vote for her either because any woman with an ounce of self-respect would have booted Bill"s butt a long time ago. And, I highly doubt any Conservative women are feeling sorry for her, or think that it would be cool to have Bill as first man. If they do, they are not true Conservatives. Any woman feeling that way will likely be too busy watching soap operas to get out and vote.
If Obama doesn"t get the nomination, the black vote will not turn out for Hillary because they will believe the nomination was stolen from them. Just another example of the white man(or woman in this case) sticking it to the black man. The dems cannot win without the black vote.
Obama is a likeable, charismatic guy who has the media behind him, blacks will come out in record numbers to vote for him, and there are just enough white people suffering from white guilt to put this empty suit in the White House. Right now he is the stronger candidate, and early polls are backing that up.
Of course, they are only polls, and yes, they are early ones, but still, I hope Hill gets the nomination, preferably after a superdelegate showdown. Then I hope she cries some more, because that crying game has just about run its course.
Agreed ckc
March 6, 2008 - 07:26 ET by ChrisMillsObama is the greater threat for a few reasons:
1) He'll almost certainly be ahead in pledged delegates at the convention, so if Hillary gets the nomination, then it will be through superdelegates. The dems are still whining about 2000 and they will consider Hillary no better than the one who "stole" the election from their biggest global warming fear monger.
2) Despite how divisive and partisan Obama has been, Clinton is queen of the divisives. As lame as this push for "unity" is, Clinton is anti-thetical to it.
3) CKC is right, there's no one in the race with higher disapproval rates. Obama beats McCain in the RealClearPolitics average poll, Clinton loses.
Just think of the mess that would results from superdelegates choosing the nominee. Not only would the dems' pres race be sunk, but it may very well trickle into the legislative elections as voters seek revenge on their representative's vote against their preferred candidate. That only happens if Hillary softens Obama's pledged delegate lead. So although I never thought I would utter these words (but will for the sake of our country): Win your contest Hillary!
Obama is the GOP's best hope
March 6, 2008 - 08:16 ET by PopularTechClinton is devisive with men not women. White women do not want Hussein. The goddamn RealClear Politics polls are idiotic and useless until the nominations are final! Rudy was winning a year ago.
Obama will force the evangelicals to vote for McCain in addition to all the race voters. If Hillary wins the evangelicals are going to be less enthusiastic and will think they can afford to wait this one out if need be. Hillary is at least a Christian, Hussein is effectively Muslim. Those stupid head to head polls are meaningless. Once the nominations are final, a majority of Huckabee supporters will back McCain over Obama the rest will wait it out. With Hillary you will get women to defect and any moderates who need health care. Anyone who is in denial about the race vote needs to get out of the cities and start talking to people in the rest of the country.
Hussein is the easiest candidate in the history of presidential elections to destroy.

March 6, 2008 - 08:48 ET by Cool ArrowThe word "Democrat" and Obama's five year crusade to ensure a woman's "right" to kill already born infants (anti - BAIPA) are sufficient to drive any right thinking American away from Obama.
The only issue he ever took a stand on during his years as an Illinois legislator was to ensure doctors the opportunity to watch viable, born infants die without intervention.

March 6, 2008 - 07:57 ET by PopularTechWomen do not hate Hillary like men do. Yes there are some but by far and large they do not. The Anti-Hillary rhetoric is male based.
Calling a women "not a true conservative" is not going to have any effect. It comes down to a women having a choice to vote for a women when no one can see who they are voting for.
Remember Bill cheated on Hillary not the other way around, they sympathize with her more then you think. And if you want to bet on women going to voting both and for the first time have a real choice to vote for a women, you would be a fool to bet against it.
The black vote is irrelevant and always has been. There are slightly more women in the country then blacks. Hillary will get Black women regardless and pull a large amount of white women - much, much, much more then you think.
Obama is already getting 99% of the black vote coming out in record numbers and the guilt vote already. The race vote is insane and I do not mean the KKK - I mean the white suburban anti-black vote. I live in NJ a liberal meca and liberal whites want Hillary NOT Hussein, McCain is an acceptable alternative just like Rudy would have been.
You are absolutely delussional if you want to bet on women not voting for Hillary.

You might as well have had Chrissy Matthews giving that softball interview. No guts.

I was asking my "liberal" friends about that same thing. In one of the last debates, Baraka was answering questions like, "well, uh, um, er.....um, well...." He can't even form a sentence when he's thinking about his answer!"
All of my friends, of course, became extremely angry. All I did was ask them why Baraka is known as being such a great speaker. He sounded worse than George W. has even sounded...and, you know good 'ole moron Georgie had to answer some TOUGH questions from HOSTILE reporters about REAL CRISIS. I always felt that Obama would be easier to defeat in November than Don Hilarone. No matter what it may have appeared, she has the media in her pocket and can turn public opinion on a dime. Granted, we have a LOT to point out on Obama...a LOT. However why couldn't we just have waited until after Texas and Ohio ???

March 6, 2008 - 08:52 ET by motherbeltI disagree... I think she would be far easier to defeat. Half the country already dislikes her, while the Obama is doing a "Jim Jones" (no negative implication, I'm just talking about drawing people in) and growing his following by leaps and bounds. Add in the fact that anyone who opposes him will be tarred as a racist, no one will be able to criticize him...that's why I've said he won't be Teflon, he will be Kevlar.
Besides, he offers more freebies and goodies than HRC, and that's not easy to do. Lots of people in this country will vote for whoever will give them the most for free.
I'm not so sure...
March 6, 2008 - 09:46 ET by Prester John....HRC would be easier to defeat. The fact is that there are fewer Dems who would not vote for HRC than there are Dems who will not vote for a black man.
Gov Ed Rendell is quite right, there are not insignificant numbers of conservative white democrats who simply will not vote for Obama because of the color of his skin (notice how Rendell was slapped down and hasn't been heard from since). Here in VA Obama won most of the state 65-35 but lost the Yellow Dog, white, coal mining area of the state 20-80.
There are tons of those people in rural PA, MI, OH who while they may not be able to bring themselves to vote for McCain will certainly not vote for Obama. And any national poll that shows Obama ahead is overstating his percentage by 2-5 points due to the Wilder effect.
Throw in the continued whining of his spoiled sorority princess wife and Obama has significant problems in November despite the fawning coverage he will get from the MSM.
I'm not sure, and don't
March 6, 2008 - 09:55 ET by motherbeltI'm not sure, and don't have any figures on the "voting for a black man" thing, so I will abstain from differing there....
But I will agree with you one one thing for sure. Obama's wife is his biggest liability. She reminds me of every bossy, pushy, black mother I've ever seen on TV...the "don't you sass me!" attitude. She doesn't speak to a crowd; she lectures! Every time I see her I like her less, and I'm sure that goes for other people too. No one wants an "angry black harridan" (as columnist Mychal Massie called her) berating them on a regular basis.

March 6, 2008 - 11:55 ET by jawebster1Jim Webster says: Sean never jumped on the "Vote for Hillary Express". Rush and Laura did, but they explained their reasons for doing so. Both suggested a vote for Hillary would prolong the Democratic race which can only be, in the main, a good thing for Republicans. I happen to agree with Rush and Laura, but I understand that the very thought of voting for Hillary is enough to make decent people sick to their stomachs.

March 6, 2008 - 10:02 ET by Ryan Mc.I seriously doubt the American people will. With McCain as our nominee, a certain percentage of right wingers will stay home in 2008 which will doom the GOP in the house and Senate races. The GOP will be so far behind that even if it takes every open seat in 2010 the GOP won't gain control. In the Senate the Republicans will likely be in the extremely low 40's.
I live in Cincinnati OH. The public school levy in 2006 lost bad and so did last years. This primary it won by 2%. The public mood didn't change, the people showing up to vote changed. With McCain as our nominee the GOP and right wing issues go to hell. McCain could barely get 50% of those Republicans who even bothered to go vote. If McCain is behind in the poles come Nov. and Republicans are discouraged from voting, Obama brings out the left in droves, and Congress is gone for years to come.
Agree
March 6, 2008 - 11:04 ET by buddycI see this as a repeat of the late 70's when the country reacted to Nixon and gave the libs the congress and the presidency. For those that lived through that political, social and national mess it is terrifying to contemplate a repeat. We are still paying the price for the intelligence reforms. There will be nothing to stop a left wing loon like Obama or to a a lesser extent Hillary. Good by military, good by intelligence services, hellow 75% tax rates, good by national defense, open the prison doors, hello 35 hours work week, hello national health care and hello nanny state.
El Rushbo's Plan
March 6, 2008 - 09:52 ET by Santino CorleoneWhat Rush's intentions are is that Hillary remain viable and "bloody up" Obama a bit as McCain has repeatedly stated he will not "take the gloves off". And who better to bloody somebody up than the Clintons. So far Obama is being viewed as the 2nd coming and this facade needs to be chipped away. If this does not happen he will be tough to beat in November given that the masses seem to be imbibing his fluffy Kool-Aid at alarming rates. This and that continued dis-unity in the party can only help Republicans.
Funny how BHO said that complaining to the refs isn't useful. His crew has been whining everytime Team Hillary delivers a shot below the belt and it's been working.

March 6, 2008 - 10:04 ET by motherbeltMcCain has repeatedly stated he will not "take the gloves off".
That's what just infuriates me! How the heck does he expect to win, when he goes around saying things like he thinks Hillary would be a good President? I said in another thread we'll be lucky if he doesn't end up campaigning FOR the Democrat, in an effort to be civil.
One can't win the Presidency by saying "My opponent would be a good President (but I would be better." He'd better be willing to point out things that the Democrat would do that are bad or wrong for this country, instead of just saying he would do it all better.
If that's going to be his tack, he might as well quit right now.
