I just caught a few minutes at the end of Hillary's hour-long appearance on "Meet the Press," and I was pleased that Tim Russert brought up the last-minute pardons of 2001, even though Hillary once again pulled out her Sergeant Schultz answer: "I knew nothing!" She was shameless enough to say she would be the president of government transparency. We'll believe that when she releases all of her own records on things like the $100,000 cattle-futures bonanza.
But the real kicker was when Russert brought up the "vast right-wing conspiracy charge," too vaguely, and Hillary cackled. She said something demonstrably false, that she hadn't given the "organized" right wing a thought in ten years. That's not why she was setting up Media Matters and the Center for American Progress? That's why she tells left-wing audiences she's "your girl" in fighting the right wing?
Update at 1:47PM by Noel Sheppard
Here's what Sen. Clinton had to say about the vast right-wing conspiracy on August 4, 2006, while speaking in front of the YearlyKos convention (video and audio available here):
We are certainly better prepared and more focused on, you know, taking our arguments, and making them effective, and disseminating them widely, and really putting together a network, uh, in the blogosphere, in a lot of the new progressive infrastructure, institutions that I helped to start and support like Media Matters and Center for American Progress.
You know, we're beginning to match what I had said for years was the advantage of the other side. Uh, you know, when I made that comment about the vast right-wing conspiracy, I wasn't kidding. Uh, what I never could have predicted is that it was not a conspiracy, it was just wide open and out there for everybody to see.
I guess this slipped Hillary's mind Sunday when she said:
I haven’t paid much attention to [the vast right-wing conspiracy] for about 10 years. I really don’t have any idea. ... I’m just too busy to worry about that.
I guess Hillary's admission in August slipped Russert's mind as well. Now that's what I call good journalism.

She knew nothing? I thought
January 13, 2008 - 14:12 ET by Old EuropeShe knew nothing? I thought she was her hubbie's co-president? I thought she had 35 years of experience? The "smartes woman on capitol Hill" knew nothing? She was fooled by her husband? She was fooled by GWB, too? Maybe she's not all that smart after all. Who would have thought.

January 13, 2008 - 15:50 ET by GregEMust be great huh? She touts her time as First Lady as "experience" to be president, but if something is brought up during that time that's not favorable, she knows nothing about that. I guess she's the only person on the planet who's experiences are all positive, and all the negatives she knows nothing about during that same timeframe.

January 14, 2008 - 00:25 ET by motherbeltRight, Greg, I just love it. She actually said one time that in her administration, her husband would be her close confidant and adviser, just as she was for him.
However, SHE will tell us which parts of her stint as First Lady we are to admire and respect, and which parts we are to pretend never happened.
I said the same thing about her husband. If he is going to go around touting all she did in his administration, then everything from his administration is grist for the mill now.

From Meet the Press
January 13, 2008 - 14:41 ET by KC MulvilleWell, we know that Hillary knows how to pound the table, she's a lawyer, after all. And someone must have told Hillary to show more emotion, because emotion is "working." But examine this quote from the MTP transcript for today. Hillary said this as one quote, but if you break them up into two segments, you'll see the internal contradiction:
That's what she just did! In typical Clinton fashion, she injected race and gender into the discussion, and then immediately (without either shame or self-reflection) denied injecting anything. That is the typical Clinton tactic. She does one thing, and then she vigorously denies that she did it. She figures that if she keeps a straight face in her denial, she can deny anything, and people will fall for it. And unfortunately, they do. Her campaign makes the backhanded insults on Obama, and then simply claims it didn't happen. Bill calls Obama's record a "fairytale," and then avoids the backlash by claiming he was referring to a particular, technical point.
They're Eddie Haskells. Without shame, they do what they want, and then deny they ever did anything.

One point I feel compelled to make. I accused Tim Russert the other day of not pulling the trigger on Hillary. By that, I meant that in previous interviews, Russert would allow Hillary to toss off talking points without challenging her on any of them.
Today, in my opinion, Russert did much better. When she came back with her equivocations, Russert called her on them. Maybe he didn't skeptically frown at her, like O'Reilly does, but if you were paying attention, you saw Russert undercut every one of her arguments. He didn't over-emotionalize. He didn't whip out his sword and swish a Zorro "Z" on her face, but he did everything else.
We criticize them when they're wrong, and so we should compliment them when they do well. I thought he did very well.

Liberals do that: they tell you how these things don't matter; then cite as an example, the fact that they have a gay Hispanic woman in a position of authority, or something like that.
And they don't see anything contradictory in it!
She doesn't even see the incongruity of denying that she's bringing gender into it when she talks about "break[ing] the highest and hardest glass ceiling."
Talk about self-delusion!

January 13, 2008 - 15:51 ET by motherbeltClearly, I bring the experiences of women. As a daughter, as a mother, as a wife, as a sister. "
KC, I missed that when I replied earlier.
What the H does being a wife, mother, daughter or sister have to do with being President of the United States?
That's the kind of thing, along with her "35 years experience" that she's routinely allowed to get away with. If Russert let it slide, shame on him.
Hey, I just figrured it out! She has 35 years experience as a wife, mother, daughter, sister, and that qualifies her to be President.
On those criteria, I have her beat by a mile!
Like rain from a cloud...
January 13, 2008 - 14:46 ET by celatorLies, distortions, denials and twisted facts tumble out of Mzzzz Hillary's mouth as easily as rain falls from clouds. This is just another example. There will be many more. The MSM lets her get away with it (Russert having done a better job today) because they are lazy and cursed with invincible ignorance-- a perfect formula for useful idiots.
So Hillary is in trouble and goes on Russert
January 13, 2008 - 14:56 ET by Lame CherryHmmm Timmy Russert plays easy question again instead of piling on........with Hillary cackling on Greet the Press lying, it means that she is in major trouble and that Russert doesn't need to administer the coup de grace as Bill is doing it.
Nice Timmy neglected to ask why Bill and Hillary are playing out plantation owners with whips a crackin' at that uppity darkie Barak Obama for coming up to the big house thinking he has a place at the carpetbaggers mansion.
Every time liberals get caught in public being the racists they are they always have the one day whine fest and then are pure as the driven snow.
But then I guess Blacks being beat up by the Clinton's don't really matter to Russert. Must be the Jim Webb syndrome.

Lying in bed this morning
January 13, 2008 - 16:22 ET by BlazerLying in bed this morning the wife made me turn the channel during the interview, she said Hillary's voice and cackles were grating on her nerves.
Russert grilling her on her Iraq war vote and stance had her ire up and when she started leaning in, I thought she was going to whip out her finger and jab it in Russert's face and accuse him of a conservative hit job.
The brakes are starting to fail on the Clinton train and before it's all over with, this woman's gonna lose it and somebodies gonna get thier face all scratched up.
Everyone loves a good train wreck and if she loses South Carolina and or Florida her train wreck is just around the bend.

January 15, 2008 - 00:38 ET by JerNoel...Absolutely. And I have stated so at least a couple of times in previous posts.
1. I had hoped a more centrist Democrat e.g. Evan Bayh or Mark Warner would seek the nomination, and
2. The Clintons have "had their turn", and though I don't think they are the twin evils that many on the "right" believe, their reoccupation of the White House would be extraordinarily divisive and unhealthy for the country. The coming years will be turbulent enough without the excessive partisanship another Clinton presidency would provoke

Hillary Baines Clinton
January 14, 2008 - 10:08 ET by Cool ArrowSeems Hillary is involved in a little of her own revisionist history these days. Couldn't happen to a nicer person.
I'm no Obama fan, but to me it's refreshing to see young African-American people making a split from the self proclaimed Black leaders and condescending patronizing Liberal party leaders of the past.
Hillary's praise of LBJ was an attempt to shift a considerable amount of credit for the Civil Rights movement away from Dr. King and into the column of the benevolent plantation master LBJ.
BET founder, Robert L. Johnson, gives a silly but unmistakable "you know what I'm sayin about what he said he did in his book" introduction for Hillary, and she fails to distance herself from it?
I'm tellin' ya, the young African-American voters will not be fooled by this bait & switch entendre. They know he was talking about drug use, and his claim he was referring to neighborhood outreach programs is beyond laughable.
I sincerely hope Hillary and those she controls continue to treat young Americans as fools, and I hope Obama continues to keep his head above the racial taunts Hillary orchestrates from within her inner sanctum.

Russert's a fool and a tool
January 14, 2008 - 14:09 ET by j17ghsI'm sure the Hillarious interview was a heartwarming INFOMERCIAL, both unethical and illegal. Could you imagine someone such as Rush Limbaugh interviewing Newt Gingrich on an hour-long show that is presented to the public as an objective news analysis? IT WOULD NEVER HAPPEN. And, if it did by some miracle of fate, the Demo-Marxists would be howling so loud that there would be retraction after retraction until Limbaugh was fired and banned.
But Hillarious and Russert? Not a peep, including from GOP candidates and committees. I'm sick of the GOP's pandering to CNN while Demo-Marxists refuse a debate on FNC and place hard-core tenured Demon-crats as moderators in all the other debates.
