The next time someone claims PBS is an oasis of fairness and balance, suggest they notice that Bill Moyers writes fundraising letters for hard-left political efforts. Arriving in the mail at liberal households over the holidays is a direct-mail fundraiser from Jim Hightower, the former agriculture commissioner of Texas and washed-up talk show host. He has a new, cheap newsletter ($10 annual subscription), and included is a testimonial with the Moyers mug on it. Moyers wrote that Hightower's work is better than Heaven, and the she-God learned immensely from it:

Dear fellow citizen,

I am told the first thing the late people's pundit Molly Ivins did upon reaching that Great Valhalla of Scribes in the Sky was to whip out the latest edition of The Hightower Lowdown and read it aloud to the multitude of saints, angels, and cherubs gathered to greet her.

I have it on reliable authority that the heavens shook, and that even the Lord of Hosts was astounded finally to learn what was really happening back on Earth. "Why don't I know this?" she demanded of the apostles, all of whom reportedly now have their own subscriptions.

Moyers also claimed Hightower has "sources Heaven never dreamt of." Please remember this letter the next time Moyers drips his contempt for people who (1) claim God is on their side of the political fence; and (2) use God as a foil for fundraising.

What

What are these people smoking? How much does this guy make writing this drivel? Who would buy into this nonsense?

Hey, Bill Moyers

Huh? WTF?!?

Eso digo yo!

Eso digo yo!

The Spanish version of DITTO! (Literal translation: that's what I say!) We use it a lot in our house, sort of a running gag, but that was the first thing that popped into my head when I read your comment.

Beyond

Beyond contempt....

Pathetic

Despicable

Despicable

Despicable. From his days with LBJ til now there has never been anything objective about the man. The fact that he is a former trustee of the Open Society Institute should say enough, but that would drop us to the Left's level( for example, the Left yells out Halliburton! and thats supposed to be a complete argument against the vast right wing whatever.) Moyers has so many objectionable qualities, its hard to know where to begin: spiteful, arrogant, delusional, and on and on. He is masterful in the use and abuse of the Left's power center: the Foundation. His foundation is The Schumann Center for Media and Democracy. The Left found out long ago that if they couldn't accomplish their goals through voting, they could accomplish their aims through the courts and charitable trusts and foundations. Quite simply, Bill Moyers is a leftist political hack-a shill.

$10 annual subscription?

$10 annual subscription? Hightower must pull down a good $1200 per year from this endeavor.

Well you have to remember...

As H.L. Mencken said: "Nobody ever went broke underestimating the intelligence (another version says taste) of the American public."

That sound you hear is me pulling duct tape off the roll......

OK, that's it!!
I am tired of taking this crap lying down. Who do we write to about this?????

This is disgusting

From a Christian standpoint and a Jewish standpoint this letter is disgusting in light of this season. ESPECIALLY, since Moyers is quoting Norse folklore which was the favorite of one Adolf Hitler.

I honestly hope this picks up steam and Moyers gets his due as this is reprehensible in a letter about thee God Who just happens to deal with bringing His Son into the world who was of the Davidic Judean line being linked with mixed religious dogma the Nazi's adored.

So Moyers is advocating people should donate money because he believes Molly Ivins is in a Nazi heaven.

One might think instead of driving while drunk that Moyers is now typing while drunk.

That would be a Communist

That would be a Communist heaven LC.....notice he called Ivins "the people's writer"

Aside: I always thought that was hilarious how everything owned by the Soviet government was called "the people's...whatever." LOL

We have a local "Arts &

We have a local "Arts & Entertainment" paper that carries Hightower.  His writing is all over the place.

In an attempt to figure him out, I have tried to read his (literal) ramblings frequently, but every time I get to the end of the article. . .I'm always left wondering what the hell his main thesis was about.

This man exemplifies the lib stereotype.  If you're a lib who wants respect from your opponents, don't emulate this guy.

How the Leftists work

Isn't this how it always begins?

  • Initial: Outrage and disgust at the leftist remarks.

  • Later: More disgust than outrage.

  • Later still: A few comments. Then the leftists saying "that's old news".

  • Still later: A couple comments. The leftists respond by claiming "bigotry" and "rights"

  • Finally: Accepted by the culture. The leftists then take it further, and Outrage and Disgust begin.

Pure blasphemy.

I expected more from Moyers and as usual, am incredibly disappointed. He chooses to write this blasphemy in the season in which the Messiah's birth is celebrated. This cannot be a coincidence. I've often wondered why this fallen journalist is still working, and now I see. He is serving a different master and has a job to do yet. Talk about someone who has obviously and irrevocably gone over to the "dark side"...

"I am told ... yada, yada,

"I am told ... yada, yada, yada ... and read it aloud to the multitude of saints, angels, and cherubs gathered to ..." tell her she was in the wrong place. The communists, as are all d*mned souls, are supposed to head south for the eternity.

There. Fixed that for ya, Moyers. I'll bet you are looking forward to get back together with your buddy Ivens pretty soon, aren't you?

Poof!

I suspect where Ivins is that paper would immediately catch on fire.
