Hillary's 'Harsher' Media? The Quick Critique

Howard Kurtz wrote a whole story Wednesday entertaining as a serious idea -- without any conservative rebuttal or extended break for belly laughs -- that Hillary Clinton suffers from a "harsher microscope" from the national media. It might be arguable that Barack Obama has received even better coverage lately, but it's like arguing that your little brother got a bigger stick of cotton candy than you did. The idea that "harsh" describes her media coverage is ridiculous.

For a quick critique, simply look at other stories in the Post. In the Style section right underneath the woe-is-Hillary piece: "The Magic & Bill Show, Providing The Charisma Assist." On the front page, Post investigators are hammering Rudy Giuliani by association with "Giuliani's Kerik Woes Resurface Through Informant: Candidate Distancing Himself From Former Confidant." Does this in any way make Hillary's case? Or make it look like the laugh line it is?

Is Kurtz one of the hundreds of blithering idiots in the Washington press corps who comically claimed that the New York press corps would be really, really "tough" on Hillary Clinton during her 2000 campaign for the U.S. Senate? Would that be the same NY media who, when Rick Lazio called attention to the fact that she wasn't a native New Yorker, called it "mudslinging"? The same NY press who tagged along on her "listening tour" and very cordially didn't ask her any questions, because she wanted to "listen"?

The MSM has given, is giving, and will always give Mzzz Hillary a magic carpet ride. Yes, part of the reason is that the MSM is incredibly lazy, but most of the reason is that she is cut from the same cloth she is. And they like that.

What a perfect example. Obama got a biger stick of cotton candy. They both are skating without any serious scrutiny compared to republicans and they and their sucks ups, like Kurtz want us to believe we / they are too harsh on Hillary.

I have no complaints about how people like Russert tried to rip into Rudi and Romney. I think that Russert showed how ignorant he was but I want the media to to tough on all candidates. I want them to treat Hillary, Obama and Edwards the same way they treat Rudi and Romney.

Harsh is when you are opposed/caught and you spread vicious lies about someone and claim to be innocent. Ask Flowers, Jones, Brodderick, Foster, Ark patrolman, Willey, all those poor VRWC[ well maybe not them], Harsh is when you lie about your 'experience' and are called out on it.

All this is playbook for the Clinton's- they played the gender card-oops, they played the victim card--oops-not even close, they played the kindergarden essay card--oops, it was a lie, they played the 'How dare you card'- oops it was true, they played the 35yrs card-oops no evidence, they played the muslim card-oops, he is Church of Christ, the played the drugs card-oops, he already wrote about that. There will be more but most people see the pattern and are over it.

It's a giant stall. She has refused to answer questions, over and over, and now she's trying to complain that the questioners won't leave her alone ... but she still hasn't answered any of the questions. David Gregory's question was classic: why did Hillary believe that Obama was a roll of the dice? She refused to explain why, each time asked, and now she's complaining about being asked several times. But she still hasn't answered the question.

If she answers the question, and they keep after her, then she has a case, and a legitimate complaint. But when she keeps deflecting answers, she throws away her credibility.
