In the liberal world, when Al Gore is right, he's right. In fact, he's so right that no one should be allowed to dissent from his environmental infallibility. The liberal blog Media Bloodhound is mad at the New York Times: how DARE they publish a balanced set of reader comments on Al Gore's worthiness for the Nobel Peace Prize on their home page! The blogger said the New York Times "slights" Gore by allowing the dissidents a spot:
Here are just three different sets of these Foxified couplings (screenshots are viewable in update below):
Beneath a photo captioned "Al and Tipper Gore at the Academy Awards in February":
Comment by Elmer Stobbe: "Junk science prevails, and the Pope of junk science is rewarded."
Comment by Ethan C.: "Nothing like a Nobel Peace Prize to tell the world that there's a real crisis."
Under a photo captioned "Al and Tipper Gore with U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon in September":
Comment by Liana: "You don't have to politically like Gore, but at least realize what he has done for global awareness of our enviornment [sic]!"
Comment by William: "Nobel is probably spinning in his grave....Another left wing triumph over science and logic."
Rotated comments beneath the same photo:
Comment by Michael Williams: "[Gore's] own actions and lifestyle are in contradiction to the policies/actions that his film supports."
Comment by James Law: "If Gore won't run, then Hillary must appoint him as the head of the E.P.A."
He concludes:
Shame on these commenters for their pettiness and ignorance, but The Times is the culpable party here: blame lands squarely on its shoulders for providing high-profile credence to such stupid, venal and unscientific opinions. And on such a critical, world-changing, life-and-death issue that is already affecting, and will continue to affect, everyone on this planet, in addition to millions who've yet to be born.

October 15, 2007 - 08:19 ET by MidAmericaYeah, I misstated a little. Al hasn't led by jumping over the cliff with his lemmings. He's living large. He's like the Al Queda bigwigs that encourage their 'true believers' to sacrifice themselves for the cause.

Wow! You hit the nail right on the head. A perfect comparision. Al Gore tells all to 'martyr' their consumer lifestyle while he keeps living large.
More leftist 'do as I say, not as I do'.

October 15, 2007 - 10:03 ET by malcumIn a few years when the dust settles on this crap and common sense once again prevails it will be obvious that Algore dreamed up this whole scam as a way to millions of dollars he lost by not being an ex-president ala Bubba Clinton. He will have gotten away with it because he knew the looney left was primed and willing to champion any cause that they knew pissed off conservatives. The MSM will try it's best to soften the reality of what he did, but hopefully by then they will be even less a factor than they are now.
common sense...
October 15, 2007 - 16:54 ET by wizardjrAny decent dictionary would use "common sense" as the iconic example of an oxymoron. If it existed, then the Goracle wouldn't.
In general you are absolutely right, but it will be the next fast moving shiny object that distracts the morons in the general public.

October 15, 2007 - 10:26 ET by pbanks7ABC News Radio actually aired some negative comments regarding AlGore winning the Peace Prize - on the day he won. I was shocked and amazed. Then I realized it's sort of like how they can finally find something negative about a Democratic after an election.

ONE of the world's foremost meteorologists has called the theory that helped Al Gore share the Nobel Peace Prize "ridiculous" and the product of "people who don't understand how the atmosphere works". ... "We're brainwashing our children," said Dr Gray, 78, a long-time professor at Colorado State University. "They're going to the Gore movie [An Inconvenient Truth] and being fed all this. It's ridiculous."
