There’s some funny items sitting around on the transcript shelf here. On Monday’s Today, Matt Lauer and Chris Matthews briefly discussed the hard-left Yearly Kos convention, and Matthews insisted that the junior Senator who adopted New York didn’t really belong to the bloggers: "Hillary’s not one of them. Hillary’s not a lefty in this campaign and she’s pro-corporation."
Sunday’s Chris Matthews Show began with Matthews wondering "Is there anything that’ll stop the Democrats?" He said no: "We put it to the Matthews Meter, 12 of our regular panelists. ‘Is the ‘08 election the Democrats’ to lose?’ It’s a wipe out. Rarely do we see this perfection. Twelve to zip. Everyone says yes, it’s the Democrats’ to lose. In other words they’re probably gonna win easily."
During the Yearly Kos chat, Matt Lauer couldn't even apply those words to the event. He stayed vague:
Lauer: "What, what about this other idea? They're, they're out there in Chicago, the Democrats, they're meeting with bloggers, okay?"
Matthews: "Right, well."
Lauer: "You are, you are a well-seasoned political warhorse, Chris."
Matthews: "Thank you."
Lauer: "At what point in your career did you think that bloggers would carry this much clout in a presidential election?"
Matthews: "Well I'm not sure they will, in the end, but clearly they are part of the base, they make a lot of noise and anyone who's in politics has to put up with them. In fact, on the Democratic side, they're incredibly powerful because they just keep talking. They do 24-7, they never stop. And they set a very high standard, on the left, to be anti-corporate, anti-war, the whole shebang. And Hillary's not one of them. Hillary is not a lefty in this campaign and she's pro-corporation. She's pro-interest group. And she's somewhere in the middle on the war and they're not with her. And they're not gonna be with her until she wins the nomination. If she wins it, they'll be with her."
Sunday's Chris Matthews Show began with Matthews announcing: "How can the Democrats lose? Americans don’t like George Bush, they hate the war, they see the country going in the wrong direction and they want change. Is there anything that’ll stop the Democrats?"
Later, Matthews explained: "We put it to the Matthews Meter, 12 of our regular panelists. ‘Is the ‘08 election the Democrats’ to lose?’ It’s a wipe-out. Rarely do we see this perfection. Twelve to zip. Everyone says yes, it’s the Democrats’ to lose. In other words they’re probably gonna win easily."
Mark those words, and we'll see if they pan out for Matthews.

Because Matthews spews more
August 7, 2007 - 23:20 ET by bigtimerBecause Matthews spews more drooling blather...(which I happened to see, along with tonight's debate and so-called critique) it is suppose to mean just what to me?
Zilch...that's what.
Just like him having a segment tonight with Shyster's so called 'Truth Squad'....
Talk about COMEDY....
I am laughing so hard I can't help it...let alone post here.
Me thinks Chris is right.

August 7, 2007 - 23:27 ET by bigtimerSony...
Did you happen to watch the debate tonight...she is going to the middle militarily....using words like extreme Islamic terrotists...she was booed loudly, which the msm is covering up so far...nevertheless, she is cute by half and knows exactly what she is doing.
I didn't see it Bigtimer,
August 8, 2007 - 13:29 ET by Sonny LykosI didn't see it Bigtimer, but I do know that she is one of the most shrewed poiticians I've ever come across, as are most Dem politicians compared to the Repubs. Well, maybe my old Chicago Mayor was also - Richard J. Daley. Reigned for 21 years - longest reigning mayor (and most corrupt) we had. But Damn!.... he got things done quick.
New Dealer Clinton

Hillary Clinton is certainly no hero to the Kos dwellers, but this doesn't disqualify her Leftist credentials.
For example, just this week, in some sort of New Dealistic heat flash, Sen. Clinton recommended that the Federal government intervene to bail out homeowners with adjustable rate mortgages who are at risk --- a risk they willingly accepted when they took out their loans -- from defaulting and losing their homes. Big government to the rescue again --- the Leftist dream.
Well, Matthews has
August 7, 2007 - 23:39 ET by gueinWell, Matthews has spoken...no need for me to vote in the '08 election. It such a relief to know the winner so far in advance.
Chris Matthews, in a lame
August 8, 2007 - 00:03 ET by jdhawkChris Matthews, in a lame attempt to try out his stand up material this evening due to his failing far left wing opinion TV show, stated that Billary Clintoon is not a leftist.
This was met with little of the desired mirth that Matthews, a former speech writer for Jimmy "the stupidest president in any country ever" Carter, had hoped for.
Tim. Matthews and McAuliffe
August 8, 2007 - 01:22 ET by Gary HallTim, I didn't get to watch much of this, but I did catch a little exchange in the follow-up after the lovefest.
First, Matthews was heaping so much praise on Keith Olbiedog, that I thought.. well, can't really say what I felt - enough said. Then Matthews had Terry McAuliffe on. Of note was that Matthews and McAuliffe quickly went to praising Hillary for bringing back into the 21st Century Hillary's successful (as they remember it) use of the "vast right wing conspiracy" claim.
We, of course remember (the MSM does not) that Hillary utilized that smear prior to it becoming understood that her dear husband, the president of the US, Bill Clinton, was having an affair with a very young volunteer and unpaid intern and in the location of the office of the most powerful person in the world - our house - the people's house.
There was no vast right wing conspiracy - President Clinton lied and Hillary Clinton falsely accused others of making up the story. Possibly Hillary Clinton lied. Possibly she was duped by her straying husband, but one thing is for certain; she never apologized to the country for blaming and smearing others for the lies of her husband.
But tonite, Hillary Clinton has re-written history once again, and Terry McAuliffe has supported the revisionist history, and Chris Matthews and NBC have bought into it.
Then McAuliffe went into a little expose about how the Democrats are honest, and it is these right wing nuts that are bringing stuff which is "not factual" to the table to attack the D's. Per McAuliffe, only Hillary and the Democrats are telling the truth - and Chris Matthews was present and gung ho to support that baloney. (;~> gh
But tonite, Hillary Clinton

That's what they always do, Gary, and their "willing accomplices in the media" as Rush calls them, go along and do their bidding. It's the "that explanation is no longer operative" method.
Clinton and others like her preface their changes of tactics or opinions with "I've always said" or "I've always believed" or somesuch nonsense, and no one ever calls them on it.
BTW, I have decided I am NOT going to refer to her as "Hillary." She wants that; it's supposed to show how everyone loves her and is close to her. I'm going to refer to her as Clinton or Mrs. Clinton from now on.
That's "Mrs. Bill
August 8, 2007 - 09:06 ET by pbanks7That's "Mrs. Bill Clinton" to Rush.
Ignorance is bliss. It's easier to repeat a mindless slogan than to do some actual research.
A Rose by any other name...
August 8, 2007 - 07:38 ET by heldmywI've always referred to them as "Clenis" and "The Rod"...
...It just "works" for me.
Clinton is not too lefty on
August 8, 2007 - 08:18 ET by Senior ChiefClinton is not too lefty on leftoid's measuring scale, that's what Matthews was trying to say...Again the democracks here are trying to redefine words that suits their needs. If you are a demoCrack, you are a leftoid, a socialist, a liberal and her new tag line, a left-leaning "progressive". Whatever that means, only demoCracks knows...
Matthews and Hillary think the masses are asses
August 8, 2007 - 09:01 ET by ThalpyWe are all treated, once again, to the "well- seasoned political warhorse" and his astute political insight. We would be better served listening to an interview of a tornado victim who had just lost everything and everyone in his life--explaining to us that "it sounded like a train." At least, it might have an element of truth in it.
Hillary may not be a lefty in the campaign this time, but Hillary is a lefty for all time. Hillary is whoever or whatever she needs to be.
Power to the people, yes? No.
Marxism vs. Leftism
August 8, 2007 - 09:01 ET by RightOfMostHillary Clinton is a Marxist. That puts her to the right of the loony "troofer" conspiracy left, but Hillary is way more dangerous because "troofer" policies would never be invoked here; Marxism might.
I hope President Thompson will prosecute the Congressional traitors. Someone needs to.

That's Encouraging......Chris is Wrong most of the time
August 8, 2007 - 11:24 ET by JayTeeTha'ts good news, that Chrissy thinks the Dems are a shoe in...or even a shoo in...becasue Mr. Matthews doesn't have a clue and is Wrong most of the time. His predicting the Future based upon today's data (as he perceives it) is very encouraging news for the Republicans.
we have yet to enter the year of the elections, and watch the Hussein Obama/Rodham smack down.
