Video: DC Liberals Sign Petition to Ban Conservative Websites

By Stephen Gutowski | May 26, 2011 | 13:58

A  A

After hearing news the other day that the Obama administration had appointed a new position to monitor and push back against negative online press we thought some liberals in DC might think it wasn't enough. So we sent Joe Schoffstall out to see just how far liberals would go to silence conservative speech. Joe went around Georgetown in DC with a petition to "Ban Conservative Hate Sites" that said this:

"The undersigned hereby adamantly demand that the United States government shut down right wing hate sites. The hate speech propagated by sites like the Drudge Report, Hot Air, Instapundit, Big Government, and others must not be allowed to corrupt our political discourse any longer. These sites are dangerous not only to truth and freedom but also to our society as a whole. BAN THEM NOW!"

That is pretty radical rhetoric that no reasonable, freedom-loving, red-blooded American could possibly agree with, right? Well, see for yourself:

It's shocking isn't it? Then again, perhaps it shouldn't be.

After all Exposing Leftists, um, exposed that liberal college student in California were willing to ban conservatives from talk radio.

Plus the Fairness Doctrine, which essentially bans conservatives from radio, has been a sweetheart of the left for decades.

Excellent video. It is the last link "Exposing Leftists." In the second to last paragraph.

We need more exposure of things like this vs. Rs rolling over playing dead.

So here I am back on NB ( courtesy Drudge) and I'm not logged in?
I have another NB window open (that I'm logged in on) to try to find your blog post, I did find it, by clicking on "Home" and scrolling down on the center column.
Your post does not appear when one clicks the "blogs" list.

not too impressed

Submitted by konastephen on Thu, 05/26/2011 - 9:23pm.

Honestly this is sad and weak. I think you could get these lemmings to sign pretty much anything if you're appealing enough and persuasively garrulous enough as a pollster. That's kinda the whole point of the MSM's polls. They're meaningless because people don't know what they believe and why, let alone what they don't believe and why not and MSM pollsters are mostly snake-oil salesman and televangelists in terms of personality and methodology.

That's the sad part

Submitted by gadropout on Thu, 05/26/2011 - 10:41pm.

Yes, these LIBERALS will gladly sign away our rights. THAT is the sad part of it all. You might think their opinions don't matter because it is a poll or petition, but they vote that way too. "People don't know what they believe and why"? I'm sure you fit that description, but most of us know what we believe and why . I know I do and I'll give other people the benefit of the doubt. Unfortunately, some people, like those signing the petition in this video, believe that some other people should be denied their God-given rights.

Uh, what?

Submitted by guefy on Thu, 05/26/2011 - 10:45pm.

I gotta say fail on this one. I believe you might want to erase this tape as it really doesn't paint liberals as bad. Really, there is no one in this video that was much on board with the petition. Some signed it but they really were reluctant.

Really a bad example here. Was this a high school project because that's about what it added up to.

Almost all of them said

Submitted by gadropout on Thu, 05/26/2011 - 11:40pm.

Almost all of them said something like, "I'm for Freedom-of-Speech BUT.....". That proves that these liberals are opposed to freedom. Does it matter how reluctant they were to sign away our freedoms? Our freedoms really are being taken away daily. Should we be okay with that because the Statists take away our liberty "reluctantly"?

Public Education and the MSM are to blame.

Submitted by Boil It Down on Fri, 05/27/2011 - 3:56am.

The majority of the media and education being liberal skew the perspectives of youth. Only the real eduction that life gives us can deprogram those things with which we are constantly bombarded. At that point we realize that the things that have been pushed at us don't track with reality. We realize that shutting out other points of view is very wrong. So we seek out other views which do track with reality. -bidn-

"They try to push them onto other people."

So, Conservative sites like Drudge and, if I may, NewsBusters have pop-ups that appear every time you start your browser?  What's that you say? They don't, you actually have to follow a link to those sites in order to access them? You actually have to choose to access them?  Oh, ok, well, so much for the claim that they're "pushing" opinions onto people.
