Reporting on the President's new book deal, " Decision Points,” Olbermann said,
"I am told he gets $7 million for his life's accomplishments in book form. So, the book is five pages long?"
To display what mean-spirited looks like? To improve ratings? (Certainly hasn't worked up to now). To solidfy support for Obama? Whatever the reason, it certainly is not good or authentic journalism.
When Hillary Clinton got $8 for her book, "Living History," and Bill Clinton $12 for his book, "My Life", no such statements were made by Olbermann. To the contrary. (Although he was critical of Hillary during the 2008 presidential campaign on several occasions, and not because he was supporting John McCain!)
Long gone are the television anchors who just reported the news...on NBC.

Olbercrud!
March 20, 2009 - 03:54 ET by blazermaniacOlbermann couldn't get seven cents for any book that he does. And if you went back to when NBC had real news anchors, you would have to go back to "Huntley & Brinkley".

March 20, 2009 - 06:45 ET by Lord ErondWell if I were Olbermann earning my presidential kneepads, I'd be out there attempting vainly to distract the country from the fact that the CURRENT president is destroying the country in ways thought impossible previously, insulting the special olympics and generally making a mess of things.
So what would expect from an Ag school pig but a grunt?

BATH-TUB-BOY...
March 20, 2009 - 07:54 ET by danybhoyI do remember that Olby put out a book called "The Worst Person In The World", & I'm not sure if it ever cracked the NYSlimes Top10 best seller list. I'm sure he sold dozens of books. If BathTubBoy wrote something about baseball, something he knows something about, maybe he could sell a few books. But becase he is an angry, bitter, little man, he has to try his hand at branching from his signature segment from his poorly rated show.
The problem Olby has is that because of what he is & how he does his show, he has very limited growth potential. So he peaked during the run up to the election, & will continue to slip in the ratings. It must drive this @-hole nuts that Beck is killing the entire MSNBC primetime lineup from the 5PM eastern slot, that & O'Reilly has been rolling over him like the Germans going through Poland. There seems to be no fix at MSNBC to beat Fox, & that makes me happy.

They could hire Rush, Levin, and Ingram to replace Chris, Oberdude and Maddow. I am pretty sure that would put them in the black again.

Not really, dont know where you been but there was no gratuiotus bashing. Most of President Clinton was setting some Troll straight or a comparison. Nothing like Oberman does. Get your head right man.

March 20, 2009 - 09:25 ET by Joe BlogsWhen the American people's strong sense of self preservation kicks in, they are going to gladly pull the handle for Republican candidates in the 2010 ans 2012 election to end the Diversity Recession caused by the minority mortgage meltdown and exacerbated by our mentally challanged racist president. Let's hope they also wise up about the destructive effects of immigration from third world countries (yes, I mean India as well as Mexico) on our towns, cities, schools, hospitals, and economy. Seriously, does Overbite have any debate skills at all? He's terrified of having anyone on his show who disagrees with him. His and Maddows little shows are inconsequential. They're like two ugly carp flopping around in a pail of sewer water trying to get out only to be whacked on the head every time by Bill O's ratings. It's a beautiful thing to watch. The only possible thing that would interest me about these two is a culmination of a murder-suicide pact.
5 pages?
March 20, 2009 - 10:59 ET by Willis_Leon_JohnsonWell, if President Bush's book will be 5 pages, isn't that 11 pages longer than olbermans book would be?

Or is Bush's book, a million pages of life saving...
March 20, 2009 - 11:19 ET by Gary HallOr is Bush's book, a million pages of life saving... gratitudes?
If the book donated a page to each life saved in Africa from the ravishes of HIV/Aids or malaria - via Bush's historic and massive efforts, pehpaps the book would be a million pages long, Keith.
Prior to Bush becoming president, more than 2 million human beings had died as a result of the reign of Saddam in Iraq. Over a 1/2 million children died during the Clinton years alone, which Sec. Albright recognized as a necessary cost of the sanctions. While the short term cost was high in ending the regime, it would appear that President Bush won the effot - and perhaps millions more lives will be spared.
Perhaps, Keith, there will be additional pages in the book dedicated to other accomplishments of the man:
From Oct. 2008:
And personally, Keith, I hope Pres. Bush devotes a full "5 pages" to tearing you down to size - fat man.

March 21, 2009 - 01:22 ET by opedYeah!! It must be making your insanely huge head come so close to exploding to see that that new kid on the block over at Fox kick your ratings ass. In fact I believe that even though he has only been on Fox a few short weeks and he is on at 5PM versus your prime time slot he gets more viewers than you and that buzz head smirk-face bitch Rachel Maddow who follows you.
Yeah it eats you up that O'Reilly beats you, now Beck beats you, Hannity beats you, I just checked, I even think reruns of the Fox LOGO beat you, you piece of crap.
