| Van Jones, Czar of the Undefinable |
Avowed Communist and Barack Obama Administration "Green Jobs Czar" Van Jones late yesterday released via the White House press office a statement apologizing for offending anyone with any of a series of inflammatory and indeed ridiculous things he has said in the (very recent) past.
The latest bit of Jones inanity news was in fact not something he said, but rather something on to which he signed. That would be an October 26, 2004 "Truth Statement" that asserts amongst other things that President George W. Bush had a hand in the September 11th terrorist attacks.
Making Jones a 9-11 "Truther" (sort of like a "Birther," but with a lot less media coverage), i.e. a conspiracy-addled doofus. (He is addled by other conspiracy theories as well, but for now this will do.)
In said apology statement, Jones uttered the following:
Story Continues Below Ad ↓In recent days some in the news media have reported on past statements I made before I joined the administration - some of which were made years ago. If I have offended anyone with statements I made in the past, I apologize. As for the petition that was circulated today, I do not agree with this statement and it certainly does not reflect my views now or ever.
My work at the Council on Environmental Quality is entirely focused on one goal: building clean energy incentives which create 21st century jobs that improve energy efficiency and use renewable resources.
That last sentence is interesting. After all, he is the"Green Jobs Czar," right? We are asked to forget that (amongst other things) he thinks the previous President and the government for which he now works had a hand in murdering nearly 3,000 of its citizens, and allow him get back to creating those "green jobs."
But there is a problem. As we originally highlighted, Jones is unable to define what a "green job" is. In fact, no one is. From our July 29th effort:
President Obama devoted nearly $60 billion of his stimulus package to building a new green-based economy rich in renewable energy and strategies to cut carbon. But despite the price tag, not one green job yet exists. It comes down to a problem of etymology. No one can yet agree on what a green job actually is.
Good thing we allocated $60 billion to allegedly create a numbers of something no one can define. Newsweek would have done well to ask for said clarification in, say, January.
The working definition paints a broad stroke: a job that's good for the economy while simultaneously healing the earth. But that leaves lots open to interpretation-natural gas is technically a cleaner fuel than crude oil, but it's still unsustainable-making it difficult, if not impossible, to measure whether eco-based jobs are being created and whether, as the administration has claimed, they're the saviors of a sagging economy.
Since no one can define a green job, it is impossible to know whether we've created any. There's also probably no way of telling how many have been saved, either.
Again, why hadn't Newsweek sought this clarification while the plan was being considered, rather than after it has become law?
In large part, the very idea behind a green job ensures there will never be a full definition, but the Bureau of Labor Statistics agreed in April to start measuring data on them. (Critics, in response, quickly suspected that the BLS, an agency supposed to measure objective data, could soon help carry water for an administration eager to show the stimulus is working.) Several environmental advocates polled by Newsweek defined green jobs the way Supreme Court Justice Potter Stewart famously defined obscenity: I'll know it when I see it.
By the by, the Leftist group The Apollo Alliance claimed credit for helping to write the stimulus bill, which steered $60 billion towards developing "green jobs." Which coincidentally is their mission:
The Apollo Alliance is a coalition of labor, business, environmental, and community leaders working to catalyze a clean energy revolution that will put millions of Americans to work in a new generation of high-quality, green-collar jobs.
Again, they can't define what "green jobs" are. Again, no one can.
On The Apollo Alliance Board is (or was; regardless, he was there) - Van Jones, who got the "Green Jobs Czar" gig overseeing the $60 billion.
Will Jones direct any of that copious coin back to his current/former pals at The Apollo Alliance to help not create any undefinable "green jobs?" 'Twould be nice were Newsweek, or anyone in the media, to ask.
He apparently warranted some coverage then; he definitely warrants some (more) now.

There are reportedly over 30 such czars, and some like Jones and the science czar are quite radical. The WH will deny their notorious pasts, but their records are written and clear.
Note how Jones is denying that he ever agreed with the "9/11 Truth" conspiracy group who's document his signature appears on. So, why did he sign it?
Obama remains tone-deaf to the ground swell of public distrust, triggered by the stimulus bill no one read before voting on it, and exploding over Obama-care. Some in the MSM are now waking up to the reality that it isn't Obama who's changed; he is what he has always been. They are slowly acknowledging that the 2008 image of Obama was their wishful projection of a young, black JFK onto a little-known community organizer with absolutely no leadership experience, and a novice when it comes to leadership. The smart Dems are beginning to distance themselves from him.

The bottom line is this...
September 4, 2009 - 11:32 ET by PrairieSkyThe only person that can be blamed for this latest mess is Obama...It is his administration...Jones is his friend and associate. Since this was a "czar" appointment, that means that this was Obama's call from start to finish, and there was likely no vetting involved, and even if there was, I'm sure the thinking was that those involved wanted Jones in this position, and were banking that no one would either know or care about his background. Another huge misjudgement and miscalculation on team Obama's part.
And does anyone believe Jones' BS about not reading the "truther" document fully, or that he didn't believe that crap then or now? If he didn't believe that BS propaganda, then why sign it? Jones is a liar and an idiot, and is typical of the types that Obama seeks out and wants around him.

Couldn't let this smear get by. While "truthers" are definitely whackjobs, the so-called "birthers" are people who rightly question Obama's coverup of his real birth certificate.
Big difference.

You claimed last night you had seen Dan's apology to me. Were you serious or just joking around? If the former, would you be kind enough to direct me to it.
Thanks, Jer
I tried to PM this request, but you apparently don't accept PMs

Allow me to vent ...... This admin has created so much racial and political divide that I must admit I am starting to avoid places of business that employ obvious "left" principles, attitudes or reflections.

Jones' Newsweek Interview: Stumped On Green Jobs
September 4, 2009 - 11:42 ET by BondPlainBondVan Jones is incapable of defining a 'Green Job' and he's the 'Green Jobs Czar'.
In a major interview as the 'Green Jobs Czar', Van Jones was stumped when asked about the so-called "green jobs" he is supposed to be creating, unable to answer in any manner, shape, or form.
Asked by Newsweek whether he supported the "green jobs" program, Jones stared blankly for a moment before turning the question back on Newsweek. "In what respect?"
The Newsweek reporter responded, "Well, what do you interpret it to be?" clearly testing his knowledge of the policy that has been in place since Obama took office.
Jones couldn't say, offering an answer that didn't even mention a single "green job". "Well, we still don't have a unified definition, and that's not unusual in a democracy. It takes a while for all the states and the federal government to come to some agreement. But the Department of Labor is working on it very diligently. Fundamentally, it's getting there, but we haven't crossed the finish line yet."
There were times during his Newsweek interview that Jones seemingly did not have a full grasp of Obama's own "green jobs" policy or positions.

"Green Jobs" defined!
September 4, 2009 - 11:45 ET by Ted ClarkeI think Obama and his butt-buddy Van Jones are making great headway in their efforts to make "Green Jobs". As more and more folks find themselves jobless, penniless, homeless and hopeless, ANY job will be seen as a "Green Job"....in that it will be the source of great envy. The "Green-Eyed Monster" is, afterall, the driving force behind everything Obama thinks and does!
Incidentally, I would like to take issue with this quote from above:
"...a 9-11 'Truther' (sort of like a 'Birther', but with a lot less media coverage), i.e. a conspiracy-addled doofus...."
What's with the hostility toward so-called "Birthers"? As far as I know, they are only asking for a few simple and legitimate questions to be properly answered:
1) Where is Obama's official birth certificate? -- And no, that Certificate of Live Birth doesn't count.
2) Why has he fought tooth and nail to NOT produce a document that all of us are so capable of producing?
3) When he was adopted by his step-father and became Barry Soetoro, did he become a citizen of Indonesia?
4) If he was a citizen of Indonesia, where are the documents that prove he is no longer Indonesian?
5) Was he or was he not listed as a foreign student in his college days?
Mind you, none of these questions are making assertions that Obama is not an American. They are simply designed to honor and defend the carefully crafted constitutional requirements that all presidents must honor. -- Unless, of course, that President happens to be black, which means that standards must bow down to the specter of perceived racism.
Are these the questions of a "a conspiracy-addled doofus"?
And how can anyone compare a so-called "birther" to a person who would seriously believe that thousands of Americans actually teamed up in a massively complex and evil effort to murder -- or aid in the murder of -- thousands of innocent people?
Anyway, I'm looking forward to "Demolition Derby Night" when Barry rides his bus over the Van. And then good ol' Joe will come out afterwards, dressed in his clown suit riding up high in his monster truck to deliver the coup de grace...at least that's how I HOPE it will all turn out. Hey! All this "Hope 'n' Changey" stuff does have its good points!
Does the United States
September 4, 2009 - 11:49 ET by olddog3006still have a Department of Labor? Why is this "czar" necessary? If and when this czar creats a "green job", will that job fall under his jurisdiction or the Dept. of Labor's?
This creating of a sub-government has got to stop!
For the sake of argument
September 4, 2009 - 12:08 ET by StarAZSay, just for drills, that Jones is really supposed to be "creating" green jobs. Are these all govt jobs or would he need "capitalist" connections such as links to venture cap and energy firms? I know GE is a lock, but would he need entrees to others? Would he have to know about linking say, windmills, to the grid? What are his technical skills--besides rabble-rousing...?
Dear Van Jones
September 4, 2009 - 12:08 ET by candanceThis is a letter to say thanks for all the many favors you've done for the American people. You got Geico to remove their stupid talking lizard from Glenn Beck's show. Watching the show is much more enjoyable now. You also exposed several other whimpy, spineless company executives that can now be boycotted at will.
Most of all, you littered the internet with a ridiculous amount of evidence against you. This has made the job of conservie bloggers so easy. We knew you were kooky, but signing an online truther petition - that takes the cake.
But you know what the best part is? You were so confident that Beck would get censored, you didn't even plan a line of defense to spare Obama the embarrassment. Signing a petition you supposedly never read? We could not have asked for a lamer excuse. You look like a jerk, Obama looks like a jerk for hiring you, and Fox News is laughing all the way to the bank.
Please give our condolences to your friends at Color of Change, and advise them in the future not to pick any more fights with Glenn Beck.
Have fun in the unemployment line.
Yours truly,
the vast right wing conspiracy

Leprechauns
Green Lantern
The Wicked Witch of the West's Winkie Guards
The Geico Lizard
The Green Blade
Shrek

Mr. Toad
The Grinch
Kermit the frog
Mean Joe Greene

Green Jobs
September 4, 2009 - 13:14 ET by VengeanceIsMineHere are a few "green" jobs. Windex-ing solar panels, scraping up dead bird parts around wind turbines. Sounds like a couple of really fulfilling gigs. About as appealing as recycling "jobs".

Green Jobs and Minority Jobs
September 4, 2009 - 13:22 ET by Kingfish17The state of Arkansas is looking for an employee for a new position in the Arkansas State Lottery: Small and Minority Business Coordinator (Diversity and Green Purchasing Manager).
Here is a quote from their website:
The Arkansas Scholarship Lottery (ASL) is recruiting for a key position to fulfill two important initiatives of the organization. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with an interest in moving business practices towards more sustainable and responsible models. The position will take on two areas of responsibility: Green Purchasing and Supplier Diversity. Green Purchasing means aligning the procurement of goods and services with environmentally sustainable principles. Supplier Diversity refers to the incorporation of historically underutilized business segments (including minority- and woman-owned companies) in the purchase of goods and services.
(End of quote.)
http://lotterycommission.arkansas.gov/about_commission_staff_openings.html
Now an argument can be made that "Green Management" or "Green Jobs" are important, and an argument can be made that diversity in utilizing minorities and women's businesses is important, but for some reason it seems that government, be it State, Local, or Federal is in the process of intertwining minority interests together with Green interests. I don't for the life of me understand why these two seperate issues are being merged into one.

September 5, 2009 - 10:14 ET by jessieHHe isn't any good at his job, whatever it is. For the price of the cash for clunkers, we could have had a lot of solar panels for our homes. I don't think the govt. cares about green jobs at all.
