Spreading the Word
On yesterday's Situation Room, CNN's Drew Griffin completely mischaracterized the nature of a "quote" from National Review's Byron York during his interview with Alaskan Republican Governor and Vice Presidential nominee Sarah Palin.

Griffin said to Gov. Palin: "Governor, you've been mocked in the press, the press has been pretty hard on you, the Democrats have been pretty hard on you, but also some conservatives have been pretty hard on you as well. The National Review had a story saying that, you know, ‘I can't tell if Sarah Palin is incompetent, stupid, unqualified, corrupt or all of the above.'"

This is a complete distortion, a falsehood. The full quote from the National Review's Byron York shows he was in fact dressing down the media, NOT Gov. Palin. "Watching press coverage of the Republican candidate for vice president, it's sometimes hard to decide whether Sarah Palin is incompetent, stupid, unqualified, corrupt, backward, or - or, well, all of the above."

MRC President and Newsbusters.org Publisher L. Brent Bozell, III issued the following statement in response:

"CNN ripped the National Review's Byron York's quote completely out of context and stood its meaning on its head, all so they could dishonestly bash Gov. Palin with it. This is the lowest form of sub-tabloid journalism. CNN's distortion simply proves York to be correct: the media are out to destroy Sarah Palin.

"York's quote, properly cited, assails the media for its horrible misrepresentations of Gov. Palin. And CNN reinforces his assessment of their tactics by misrepresenting what he wrote so they could again bash Gov. Palin.

"CNN clearly knows they did something wrong, as evidenced by their removing the question from their online video. But that's not enough. CNN should immediately correct the record, and apologize to Gov. Palin, Byron York and National Review and their viewers who were again subjected to their special form of journalistic malpractice."

Case in point

By doing this, CNN merely proves York's point: the media will go to any lengths to tear down Gov. Palin, even such blatant and easily debunked mis-quotes.

The question is, WHY? And the answer is, she SCARES them!

"I do not... believe that the same God who has endowed us with senses, reason and intellect has intended us to forego their use."  G. Galilei

CNN apologize?

Only if you can separate them from their celebration today, and their planning for tomorrow's attack.

NOW PLAYING:
Governor Palin Get Your Gun

Society of Second Rate Democratic Strategists

You know why I don't watch CNN? Its not the editorializing or commentary that bothers me -- its because they cant even admit a simple factual error.

This proves the point.

Just once, once could each of these moronic media outlets ask the savior a tough question?  I believe that people could look at all of these media outlets, being tough on Governor Palin, if they had done the same to Obama.  They have scrupulously avoided asking any question that might put him on the spot.  Hell, we had a plumber ask a question the media wouldn't ask, and they started trashing him.

Let it be written that, starting in 2000, the American media started a cult that was based on Bush Derangement Syndrome.  It ended up taking over the psyche and bring them to their ultimate downfall, just after the 2008 election, an election that their nemesis wasn't even running in.

During Bush's time in office, they sacrificed their integrity to release national security secrets, in an attempt to bring down the administration.  They told lies about how CIA operatives were outed, they told lies about lies, and still we had an administration that remained in office.

During this same time, however, their lies tended to tear the country apart. People, that once trusted the media, have a difficult time differentiating between their lying spin and the truth, which makes it all the more difficult to support the press at this time.  They were willing to sacrifice their credibility, along with the trust the country places in our government, for a goal to bring down the administration, based on ideological differences.

Why would our forefathers waste constitutional amendments on a group such as this?  I mean, if it was just one or two papers you could just say their ideology gets in the way of their reporting.  What we have here are reporters who all missed that one ethics class they used to conduct in journalism school, perhaps they don't teach that class any more.

It's sort of like ACORN, you'd think they would tell all their workers, who are going out to sign people up to vote, how important the right to vote is for a democracy and that people need to have confidence that the people that are voting are entitled to that vote and aren't abusing that right.  Somehow, the ACORN workers missed that point.  Ironically, both of these diverse groups seem to miss the point of American Democracy.  A free press is supposed to look at all the political parties and not be an advocate for any of them.  They are supposed to protect the public from the lies and deceipt they are prone to spread, but this group has taken it upon themselves to assist in those lies.

ACORN and the media have both shirked their responsibilities in our society.  They should both be ashamed of themselves.

Democrats: Stuck on Stupid since 2000.

PB thinker Right On

The slippery slope that the media has slipped down is truly amazing .... I am not sure it is even possible for them to climb up from the bottom ... course Im not sure they have arrived at the bottom yet ..... Im an old guy and went back to college recently for a degree in Graphic Design ...had to take some media ethics courses and the media should be required to go back and take some basic level ethics courses to refresh their memory ... their behaviour is beyond unethical, beyond all levels of decency and fairness .. though I am right wing kook I would feel the same way if the Media was in the tank for Mc Cain ... it is undemocratic .....as Michele Obama stated that this is now the first time she has ben proud of her country ... this is now the first time I have been ashamed of my country since I was a young Socialist when I was in my 20's .... I woke up as I grew older ... I can only hope our country wakes up before too much damage is done

In the past, I have...

flipped over to CNN during commercials on Fox.  Here is my pledge.  In the future, even though Fox is on channel 25 and CNN is on channel 22, I will not flip over to CNN during commercials on Fox, ever again, never!  Bill Bennett, come home!  Jim Webster

I quit watching CNN this
