According to ABC News, it is Mitt.

Riled! Angry Romney Rips Reporter
Sparks fly as Mitt Romney tells reporters lobbyists aren't running his campaign.

According to anyone else who has watched the video, theirs is a difficult assessment with which to agree.

As we stated when we posted the video last night (video below as well), the Associated Press' Glen Johnson angily interrupts Romney on the podium mid-sentence, already visibly flustered, and only proceeds to become more so as he tries to drive home the semantic difference between a campaign "run"ner and a campaign "adviser".

Story Continues Below Ad ↓

Romney, for his part, calmly tries to explain that the lobbyist in question, Rob Kaufman, is a friend who is also providing campaign counsel, who also happens to be a lobbyist.

He amicably clarified by name (Beth Myers - Campaign Manager) the woman who is in fact "run"ning his campaign, and tranquilly agreed with the AP's Johnson that Kaufman was not in fact a potted plant.

Later, Johnson, not yet having had enough, continues his tirade for the benefit of Eric Fehrnstrom, Romney's Press Secretary, who placidly asks Johnson to "save his opinions and act professionally".

This while Romney himself is saying to Johnson (he can be heard, but is off camera save for his his hand which he had placed on Johnson's back in a soothing and friendly way), "Let's talk -- we'll talk".

In short, it is difficult for almost anyone to concur with ABC's conclusion. We have not just Romney, but his staffer Fehrnstrom, showing little or no emotion, while Johnson is enraged throughout the video.

ABC's headline is, shall we say, a might misleading.

Just goes to show you how

Just goes to show you how much the media fears Romney. How much you wanna bet they say nothing about his expected win in Nevada?

They will just mention that

They will just mention that fact Gary P. here and there so they can say they did their job....that's it.

This so called anger that Romney displayed is absolutely stretched to the nth degree...the msm have been trying their mightiest to destroy the man from the beginning...it is despicable IMO.

I am still for Thompson/Hunter '08!

The lady at the end

I liked the woman at the very end of the clip telling the Michael Moore wannabe that he was rude and ugly.

I'm in disagreement with others about the Clinton clip though. I think it is a very similar incident - he just handled it in a slightly different way. In both situations the "Reporter" was being a jerk and was taken to task for it.

I think both questions (to

I think both questions (to Romney and Clinton) were legitimate. I don't think either reporter was being a "jerk" to ask them. The difference comes in the reaction of the candidates and the reporters after the initial question. Romney was annoyed, but polite; Clinton lashed out at the reporter. The reporter with Clinton remained polite, the one with Romney was argumentative and rude.

In one instance we had rude reporter/polite reply; in the other we had polite reporter/rude reply.

ABC jumps on the media's "dump Romney" bandwagon

The purpose of this event is not to catch Romney in a "lie", but to portray him as un-Presidental.

The hope was to get Romney to over-react.  Even though AP's Johnson failed, ABC has joined in with their own deliberate lie.

Reality check

I like to think that I'm fairly savvy when it comes to understanding and interpreting what the media puts out there, but I must admit that I fell for the spin when I first read about this "incident" this morning.  My first thought was "wow...Romney always seems so calm and level-headed."  I should have known better and realized immediately not to believe any description put forth by the MSM.

Then the reality of the situation hit me.  I am a skeptic and got duped.  What about the millions of people who aren't skeptics and believe anything thrown at them by the MSM.

There's nothing earthshattering in my post I realize - this case was just a(nother) reality check as to how liberal media bias can influence people, and it's frightening.

Oh hey look.  The most

Oh hey look.  The most important parts were edited, like the little exchange with Johnson after the end there.

Support a policy of fair play in debate. Tell TruthMonger he owes me a steak!

Another case of

making rather than reporting the news. Probably trying to get a book deal. What a hack.

Go Mitt!

The story was supposed to be that the Romney campaign is run by lobbyists - the reporter had probably received his bosses blessing to pursue this angle.  Mitt did exactly what has to be done, he refused to accept the false premise - he simply and clearly gave examples of why the question was inaccurate and he repeated his key message.  Media 101.

The fact that any network would go near this as a relavant story is scary.

Romney must be worrying someone somewhere because as journalism goes this media blip makes everybody but Romney look bad.  Bias? No, couldn't be.

Go Newsbusters!

Well, obviously, what the

Well, obviously, what the reporter was after was Governor Romney breaking down and sobbing, "I've now found my voice . . .Thank you! . . . Thank you!" "

"He is so . . . so . . . human!," cried the reporter.

Oh! Wait a minute. This a REPUBLICAN candiate. Ooops!!!
Print: angry and unpresidential - now lets go get Thompson . . .

The reality is that the drive bys are attempting to pick the Republican candidate for us. So far, it looks like they want either McCain or Huckabee. I want neither because neither are conservatives.

Why? Because the drive bys think that either one of these two is the least likely to pose a threat to either of the two bbees - billary or bambi. I think that they are right.

They obviously meant to

They obviously meant to write "Angry Clinton Rips Reporter", but just slipped up. I commented in another thread that Romney was unfailingly polite; he never got nasty, he just kept answering to the question.

Bill Clinton on the other hand says things like (paraphrasing): Since you asked it in an accusatory fashion let me turn it back on you.... to the Obama questioner, and to the Nevada reporter...do you think all the Democrats understood....are you saying you think those people's votes should count five times more...is that your position???

Which of those two people was confrontational to a reporter?

How about "Confrontational Reporter Contradicts Romney"?

mb.... Bingo....Bingo....a

mb....

Bingo....Bingo....and BINGO!

Beautiful post.

Well BT, That's because

Well BT,

That's because it's impossible to get angry when you don't believe in anything, you know, like a guy that will change his fundamental stance on every major issue at the drop of a hat for personal convenience.

On another Note, Do you

On another Note,

Do you think Bush Sr. and W. ever sit around joking about how the Romney's are a family of losers?

2 presidential runs and 2 losses.

Ouch!

Leon, those that have never

Leon, those that have never failed big have never tried big.  I have raised my boys with the mentality that you use the loses to learn from.  Fear of losing (or loosing, as some prefer ; ) ) is part of the problem with America today.

So, no, I don't think people like Bush Sr., Jr., or Bill Clinton for that matter sit around commiserating their failures very much.

I admire the people that run (either side), for at least having the courage to put it all on the line, even though there is little else to admire about a couple of them.

Is that right little

Is that right little one...

If I didn't have to leave pretty quick I would engage with ya here but what the heck, others can....

Btw....you do know that Clinton just went whichever way the wind blew when sticking his finger in the wind with the so-called polls eh? I assume that is who you are talking about right?

LOL...

BT, Not on major social

BT,

Not on major social issues like Mitt.

Guns, gays, abortion, healthcare...whoops!

Anyone catch Ann Coulter on

Anyone catch Ann Coulter on Fox this afternoon. She was talking about why she talked up Romney. Also got some great shots in about McCain.

Tom Delay was on Cavuto just wearing McCain out also.

Whomever controls the media,

Whomever controls the media, controls the country. And is why the ignorant masses will elect a Democrat as our next President.  So much for ignorant masses. Add to them the "stupid" ones who will opt to stay home on voting day because their candidate was not selected at the Republican convention.   These morons would rather got "0" of what they want instead of 50%.

And don't be surprised if the Democrats also gain total control of Congress.

They win.  We lose.

No Big Deal

I first read the report from the news and thought it was a big fight.  Then I saw the video and was surprised by how benign the exchange was.  The reporter can't be heard too well but if you turn up the volume you can hear that the reporter is kinda angry.

Did anyone else notice that the eporter looked like a Michael Moore wannabe?

I always enjoy seeing a "journalist" from Big Media get smacked down.

Didn't You Get The Memo?

Found at: judicialwatch.org/files/2007/0108HRCHealthcareRockefeller_0.pdf

I found part 4 on page 6 very interesting:

- Expose opponents as "professional lobbyists" with values and interests divorced from average Americans.

Amazing

Did ABC write up the headline beforehand and then insert the video without watching it? Sheesh!

I guess the MSM stopped letting facts get in the way of a good story a long time ago, but this is pretty blatant.

And I did love the lady at the end telling off the rude jerk of a "journalist."

Full disclosure - I'm a Romney supporter and can guarantee you that Beth Myers is indeed running his campaign. And, if Beth (or Spencer) are reading, yes, there's another check in the mail now that you're accepting general election contributions :-)
