USA Today Editor Sneers at 'All That Wasted Noise Over Benghazi'

In the wake of a House report from last week concluding that the CIA and military had reacted properly to the 2012 terrorist attack in Libya,  USA Today editor Rem Rieder on Tuesday complained about "all that wasted noise over Benghazi." Rieder sneered, "For the last three years, the right has worked feverishly to turn Benghazi into a major scandal, a cudgel with which to batter President Obama and former secretary of State Hillary Clinton."

He mocked, "Benghazi became a major obsession for Fox News and other right-leaning news outlets." But then the editor added, "Yet it got plenty of attention in the mainstream media as well."

In reality, the networks often ignored new details on the terrorist attack. On September 11, 2012 ABC, NBC and CB skipped the two year anniversary.

On September 17, 2014, the networks blacked out coverage on the Benghazi hearings.

On Sunday, Senator Lindsay Graham referred to the House report on Benghazi as "full of crap":

Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-South Carolina, has some harsh words for the recently released Benghazi report, led by his own party.

"I think the report is full of crap," Graham told Gloria Borger on CNN's "State of the Union" on Sunday.

"I don't believe that the report is accurate, given the role that Mike Morell (deputy director of the Central Intelligence Agency at the time) played in misleading the Congress on two different occasions. Why didn't the report say that?"
