MRC Gala: Actress Stacey Dash Rips Hollywood 'Hypocrites'

September 27th, 2014 12:05 PM

Actress Stacey Dash, star of the movie and TV series Clueless, appeared at the Media Research Center's 2014 DisHonors Awards and annual Gala. Dash ripped Hollywood as being full of "hypocrites." The conservative explained how the city's residents don't practice what they preach: "Want proof? There are no movies made in Hollywood. They make them in places like Georgia, Louisiana, North Carolina. Do you know why? Lower taxes. Hypocrites."

She also implored right-leaning Americans to get involved in the industry, saying, "Now, we as conservatives must put our money where our mouths are and we have to produce films and TV that show and represent the United States of America like we believe it to be. We can't wait for anyone else to do it."

Dash's comments came in accepting, in jest, the “Dan Rather Memorial Award for the Most Stupid Analysis” which was “won” by Eleanor Clift.

In 2012, Dash endorsed Mitt Romney for president and took incredible grief for it, including enduring racist attacks.

STACEY DASH: This week, I found out that, online, that I have been bleaching my skin so that I can appear whiter to appear on Fox News. Seriously. You can Google it. I mean – Obviously, it's not true. But in a totally unrelated comment, you all have no idea how many of those five ounce plastic bottles that, you know, the TSA approve of Chlorox bleach it takes to fill a bathtub full of– in a hotel. I mean, it's amazing. So many. So many. But seriously, I am just a girl from the South Bronx who has been blessed beyond measure and I truly want all Americans to know that if they work hard and they get an education, the American people is possible for everyone.

But I'm not a pundit, an expert or an elected official -- yet. But if I can leave with anything that you remember that I said tonight, I beg you: Please, do not buy into the belief that Hollywood is inherently liberal. It is the most capitalistic city on the planet. Okay? Regardless of its politics, it exists only to make money. Want proof? There are no movies made in Hollywood. They make them in places like Georgia, Louisiana, North Carolina. Do you know why? Lower taxes. Hypocrites.

Now, we as conservatives must put our money where our mouths are and we have to produce films and TV that show and represent the United States of America like we believe it to be. We can't wait for anyone else to do it. Think of it this way: It's storytelling. Storytelling are parables and I know that there was once a man who changed the world by telling parables. Thank you very much.
