'Nasty' Rush Limbaugh Is Behaving Like a 'Werewolf,' Ex-Newsweek Editor Smears

Former Newsweek editor Howard Fineman on Monday lashed out at Rush Limbaugh as a "nasty" "werewolf" who is making the national discourse extreme. Hardball anchor Chris Matthews played a clip of the conservative radio star asserting that Barack Obama "hates" America.

Fineman spewed, "So, if you have an establishment Republican [Mitt Romney] behaving like an attack dog, you're going to have the Rush Limbaughs of the world behaving like werewolves." [See video below. MP3 audio here.] According to Fineman, Romney "dragged the center of the gravity of the discussion over to the nasty realm which...brings what happens in talk radio and elsewhere in the conservative grassroots, legitimizes the nastiness that you're seeing there."

The former Newsweek editor, now editorial director for Huffington Post, warned that this is only the beginning. He added, "They're going to become increasingly hysterical as the months wear on."

Fineman previously smeared another conservative, Newt Gingrich, as a "mad bomber."

A transcript of the July 16 exchange can be found below:

CHRIS MATTHEWS: Your thoughts on what this Rushbo thing means?

HOWARD FINEMAN: My take on this, Chris, is that Mitt Romney was as one point, and to some extent still is, an establishment Republican, and yet he has run a campaign from the very beginning that's been for the most part all attack. It was that way in the primaries. It's that way now. So, if you have an establishment Republican behaving like an attack dog, you're going to have the Rush Limbaughs of the world behaving like werewolves. [Laugher] Mitt Romney has dragged the center of the gravity of the discussion over to the nasty realm, which brings- which brings what happens in talk radio and elsewhere in the conservative grassroots, legitimizes the nastiness that you're seeing there. And, again, has only begun. Has only begun. They're going to become increasingly hysterical as the months wear on.

Poor Howie. Always the last chosen for the dodgeball team.

He goes from losing venue to losing venue.

My trained ear heard Howie's envy of Limbaugh's success, and that is just something Howie will not let go. For all of their whining, petitions to FCC and idiotic boycotts, Limbaugh's numbers continue to be steady or growing in many markets. If there is one thing that Howie can't stand, it's the public's rejection of the liberal claptrap.

You had better pray that things don't get so bad that you see the bad side of us bitter clingers. You would seriously reconsider all the times you've thought we were really mean.

President Obama is a Muslim (from his own lips), Kenyan (read it from his publicist) a homosexual (read it on a news magazine cover) and a Socialist (I'm alive and can see it for myself)

Submitted by pepsiman on Mon, 07/16/2012 - 9:38pm.

president choom gang is sending people to to jail for weed crimes.. funny but i dont remember weed being legal in the 80s either.. this foreign marxist hypocrite criminal has no moral roadblocks... he will say anything or do anything to achieve a result legal or not.. he should be removed from office and indicted for any number of crimes this administration has committed.. culminating with the deaths of 200 mexicans and a border agent ... using the us treasury as a campaign donor payoff racket. intimidating another equal branch of government ... circumventing congress with edicts and anyone that believes andrew died of natural causes is underestimating the resolve of this administration .. these are dark days

on Laura Ingraham's radio show from time to time and pretends to sound sane and reasonable. He realizes that if he said the same stuff to Laura that he says on MSNBC, she would hand his head to him. What a jerk and a coward he is!
