Screw Objectivity! ABC's Josh Elliott: 'I'm Proud to Work at a Place That Believes in Advocacy Journalism!'

Sometimes journalists just come right out and say it: Appearing at the Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) Awards, Saturday, ABC News anchor Josh Elliott gushed over media subjectivity: "I'm proud to work at a place that believes in advocacy journalism!"

Elliott, who reads the news for Good Morning America, fawned over the liberal gay rights group: "I will never be in a braver room than this!" The reporter seemed to be under the impression that, so long as the cause is good enough, objectivity isn't needed. Elliott highlighted his own late, gay father: "I took from him the importance of being an advocate for those who need it; and I took from him what it means to be a man."

Elliott isn't the first journalist to make such a determination. In July of 2010, then-MSNBC anchor Contessa Brewer, who was supposed to be an objective journalist, lobbied for gay rights at a fund-raiser by night and reported on the topic by day for the cable network.

GLAAD's website explained Elliott's appearance:

On Saturday, ABC news anchor Josh Elliott accepted the GLAAD Media Award in the Outstanding TV Journalism Segment category for "Battle Against Bullying" by ABC World News With Diane Sawyer, a piece about teenager Jamey Rodemeyer who died by suicide last September. Smash’s Megan Hilty was joined by Ted Allen to present the category on stage.

Boycotting ABC News

Submitted by NotFondOfLibs on Mon, 03/26/2012 - 8:32pm.

So all this time I have been boycotting ABC News because I can't stand Diane Sawyer and George Stephanopoulus. Now I can add the name Josh Elliott, an obvious clown in his own right. Thanks Josh, I'll continue to seek the news elsewhere with journalists who don't have a political agenda that governs their every report. Josh Elliott, boy hero and a legend in his own mind.

SO Mr Elliot, if you were in a room full of veterans, WOULD YOU STILL SAY THAT?.. Would you say that to a Vet that gave up an arm or a leg or both arms or both legs?.... or his or her hearing or sight? YOU ARE A TOTALLY FUBAR JACKWAGON that would not know bravery if it came up to you and BIT YOU IN THAT LIBERAL BUTT OF YOURS! I hope that when the commies come to take over and they start with, and shoot the "journalists" I hope you remember what you said here as your choking on your own blood, and as the light passes out of your eyes you remember that to you a GAY person someone that lives a lifestyle, not defend your rights or your country but to you JUST BECAUSE they are Gay you thought they are braver than anyone else. And not the men and women that gave their lives... the ones that gave you the freedom to throw your country away for your twisted and warped beliefs!

THE AFRICANIZATION OF AMERICA

Wednesday, 21 March 2012

Accra, Ghana. When the early European explorers sailed down the west coast of Africa and established trading posts, they named sections of the coast according to what was there they could most profitably trade.

There was the Pepper Coast (present day Liberia), for the abundance of melegueta peppers, a valuable spice; the Ivory Coast (still called that today) for elephant tusks; the Slave Coast (present day Togo and Benin, where the brutal Dahomey kingdom sold slaves to the Portuguese to be shipped off to Brazil.

The most prized region they called the Gold Coast - and not just for all the gold there, but for the fertility of the soil and prosperity of its peoples. It was a golden land, over which the Portuguese, Dutch, Spanish, and British tussled, with the Brits ending up on top and declaring it a Crown Colony in 1874.

The British were determined to make the Gold Coast a tropical Africa success story, and they succeeded. New crops, such as coffee and cacao (cocoa, the source of chocolate) exploded in production. By the 1920s, the Gold Coast was the largest cacao/cocoa producer in the world. Added to this were huge exports of coffee, timber, and gold, lots of gold.

The Brits poured much of this back into their prize colony with a network of roads and railroads, hospitals and medical services, and especially education resulting in the best educated indigenous population in Africa. By the early 1950s, the Gold Coast had been the world's leading cocoa producer for decades and was an unparalleled colonial success story, peaceful, stable, and prosperous.

The British governor, Sir Charles Arden-Clarke, had groomed a distinguished group of lawyers and businessmen led by Dr. Joseph Danquah to steadily assume more autonomy and self-government. Dr. Danquah, who held a doctorate in history from the University of London, proposed changing the colonial name of the Gold Coast to Ghana, after a West African kingdom of centuries before.

In 1947, Dr. Danquah and his group formed a political party with Arden-Clarke's blessing and decided to hire a full-time community organizer/political activist, offering the job to a 38 year-old penniless professional student about whom they knew nothing. His name was Kwame Nkrumah.

It was a fatal mistake. Nkrumah was a messianic narcissist with a gift for charismatic rabble-rousing oratory. He quickly broke with Danquah and formed his own party. His campaign rallies turned into riots as Nkrumah demanded complete independence for Ghana immediately. Arden-Clarke threw him in prison for sedition which only increased his popularity.

As the protests grew demanding his release, instead of realizing the danger and taking him on a one-way boat ride way out into the ocean - the "no person, no problem" solution - Arden-Clarke capitulated, released Nkrumah from prison and designated him Prime Minister of the colony. That was in March of 1952.

British capitulation to Nkrumah continued, culminating in granting Ghana full independence (the first African colony to gain it) in March of 1957. At that moment, Ghana was the richest tropical country in the world, with huge foreign currency reserves from massive sales of cocoa, coffee, gold, timber, and bauxite. The Brits had provided the new nation with an efficient civil service, an impartial judiciary, a fair electoral system with competent elected politicians, and a prosperous middle class.

Nkrumah was wildly popular, promising hope and change that would solve everyone's grievances. And not just in Ghana, where people believed he had supernatural powers, a new Moses, a messiah who would fulfill Africa's destiny. The world press fawned on him just as obsequiously, starting with a Time Magazine cover story in 1953.

Independence celebrations were euphoric, with high-level delegations from 56 countries. Queen Elizabeth sent the Duchess of Kent, President Eisenhower sent Vice-President Richard Nixon, Mao Tse-tung sent a 4-star general, Khrushchev sent a Kremlin minister, journalists from all over the globe flocked to Accra to report that Africa's future was dawning with Kwame Nkrumah, Ghana's Man of Destiny.

Nkrumah's true identity was plain for anyone to see - a charismatic charlatan, an intellectual lightweight, a self-proclaimed Marxist who hated capitalism, a self-worshipping narcissist of the highest order, and a black racist who hated whites and the West. To the surprise of no one with unblinkered vision, but to the shocked surprise and denial of every fawning liberal on the planet, he proceeded to run Ghana straight into the ground.

As he built a personality cult around him -- Ghana's soldiers, e.g., marched to the cadence "Nkrumah can do no wrong, Nkrumah can do no wrong" - Ghana's fabulous economy collapsed and sunk into a morass of corruption. He ruled by decree, ignoring laws passed by parliament. He demanded total sycophancy from the press, tolerating no criticism whatever. His cronies became immensely rich, his opponents ended up in prison. Dr. Danquah died in solitary confinement where he was denied medical treatment in 1965.

Government debt soared into space, cocoa production imploded, taxes and inflation crushed the middle class, there were widespread food shortages. As the catastrophe deepened, so did Nkrumah's messianism as he accepted no responsibility whatsoever, blaming "imperialists and neocolonialists" for everything wrong even as Western governments poured in aid money by the tens of millions, all of which was squandered. By the end of 1965, Ghana was bankrupt.

Of course by now you have drawn the parallel between Nkrumah and Zero. We have an African "Big Man" as President of the United States. We discussed this last November in How Obama Is African. (This really is a Must-Read if you want to understand who Zero is.)

So this is not about Big Men. It is about what made the emergence of such charismatic charlatans possible in the first place.

It is no accident that the Big Men who ruled Africa's newly-independent former colonies with such flamboyant tyranny were Black African. If they had been of any other ethnicity, the Western world would have treated them far differently, and far less deferentially.

Perhaps you have seen the bumper sticker that says:

If you voted for Obama in 2008 to prove you weren't a racist, you'll have to vote for someone else in 2012 to prove you aren't an idiot

The only - sole, solitary, there-is-no-possible-other - reason anyone paid any attention to Zero's ludicrous presidential aspirations in 2008 was because of his racial identity. A white politician with his record of total non-experience and non-accomplishment would have been laughably ignored. Liberal racist guilt-mongering created this nightmare of the African Big Man Presidency cursing our country today.

That white liberal guilt is responsible for Zero is fairly well-recognized among those who are intellectually honest. What is little understood, however, is that it is also responsible for what inevitably happens as a consequence of African Big Man government: the Africanization of that government.

Rule by executive decree. A Big Man personality cult with worshipful followers and lapdog press. Persecution of critics and opponents. Potemkin democracy with rigged elections and massive voter fraud. Crony capitalism on steroids. The path to wealth not through private entrepreneurship, but political entrepreneurship.

In 1965, a prominent Third World economist, Arthur Lewis, in a study of one-party African Big Man states, wrote that:

"Political activity is seen by ambitious Africans as the most direct way of securing wealth and social standing. Political office carries power, prestige, and money. The power is incredible. Most West African Ministers consider themselves above the law and are treated as such by the police. Decision-making is arbitrary... The prestige is also incredible. Men who claim to be democrats in fact behave like emperors, and generally demand to be treated like Egyptian Pharaohs... And the money is also incredible. There are huge salaries and expense accounts, plus vast pickings in bribes, state contracts, diversion of public funds to private uses, and commissions of various sorts. To be a Minister is to have a lifetime's chance to make a fortune."

This is called "the platinum life" in West Africa. In East Africa, those who enjoy it are called the WaBenzi. ‘Wa' means ‘tribe' - the tribe of the Benz. It does not matter how you got it however honestly or dishonestly, all that matters is that if you drive a Mercedes-Benz, you are one of the elite, you are WaBenzi.

To Africanize a government, economy, and society is to totally corrupt it. There is no longer a distinction between making an honest living and a dishonest one, between becoming wealthy through hard work or through graft and thievery. Those who come out on top are not the brightest and most competent, it is those with government pull, the shysters, hustlers, and con-men charlatans.

That's what happened to one African country after another, because of the white guilt felt by their colonial administrators. And that's what is happening to America today at the hands of Zero, the Democrat Party, and the white-guilt liberal media-academia complex.

How do we get out of this? Ironically, like Ghana did.

Well, not like the process began. While Nkrumah was in Beijing visiting his Chicom buddy Mao Tse-tung, a group of army officers seized power. (He ended up living in exile in neighboring Guinea-Conakry, dying there of skin cancer in 1972.) They in turn were overthrown by another cabal of army officers in 1972. In 1979, they were overthrown by a third military coup, this time by a group of junior officers led by 32 year-old Flight Lieutenant Jerry Rawlings.

He started off badly. Ghana's economy was still a mess, and he made it much worse with the advice of his pals Fidel Castro and Muammar Ghaddafi. By 1983, he figured things out and was following Ronald Reagan's advice to go free market.

The more he got the government out of the economy, the better life in Ghana got. 60,000 public employees were let go. "The zest and zeal of private ownership is the route to sustained economic growth," he declared. Inflation plunged and the GDP started growing at 6% per year.

Yet Rawlings still ran Ghana as a Big Man one-party state. He lifted the ban, allowing other parties in 1992, ran for president in 1993 and was elected in a process international observers pronounced "peaceful, free, and transparent." Reelected in 1996, he stepped down after two terms, with his vice-president John Atta Mills running in 2000. But Atta Mills was defeated by the opposition party leader John Kufuor, with a fully peaceful transfer of power - a rare event in Africa.

Kufuor was reelected in 2004, but Atta Mills defeated him in 2008, with a second peaceful transfer of power. Jerry Rawlings, after seizing power, rescuing Ghana's economy, and firmly establishing real democracy in Ghana, remains retired from Ghana politics.

Today, Ghana's economy is flourishing, with a GDP growth that clocked in at 13.6% in 2011. Public debt is 5% of GDP. It is one of the largest cocoa and gold producers in the world. The race is on for oil off Ghana's coast, with a number of US oilcos like Hess and Anadarko heavily investing to extract an estimated 2 billion barrels of recoverable reserves. No wonder the London Financial Times calls Ghana "Africa's success story."

What we need is to recreate an American success story - which requires the De-Africanization of our government. The first step, of course, is for a substantial majority of voters to throw America's Big Man out of the White House in November. It will not be easy, for Big Men cling to power at all costs. There will be voter fraud, aided and abetted by Eric Holder's Injustice Department, on the most massive scale our country has ever seen.

Zero's defeat, though, is only the first step. The next, and harder one, is to derail the Government Gravy Train, ending, e.g., all forms of crony capitalism, corporate welfare, and public union freeloading. Even harder will be the abandonment of white guilt, looking upon it as a form of racism, for it treats blacks as victimized children who have to be taken care of, rather than regular grown-up adults responsible for themselves.

Rectifying the gargantuan damage perpetrated by Zero upon America will take years. It took Ghana over 30 years just to start repairing the damage of Nkrumah. It shouldn't take anywhere near that long for us, but there's no overnight quick fix.

Americans have allowed their government to become Africanized. They need to understand how and why they allowed this. Ghana De-Africanized itself. So can America - once a majority of Americans reject racial politics, guilt-mongering, and envy-pandering, to embrace personal responsibility and honest work as they once did. Let the De-Africanization of America begin!

HOW OBAMA IS AFRICAN

Written by Dr. Jack Wheeler

Thursday, 17 November 2011

Malabo, Equatorial Guinea. It took coming here, to the darkest pit of hellhole Africa, for it to finally dawn on me who Zero really is, to what total extent he isn't American at all, but African.

This is my first time here, and assuredly will be the last. Yet I wrote about Equatorial Guinea back in 2006 as an example of Why Africa Is So Stupid. It discusses the research on global IQ explaining why sub-Saharan Africa is at the bottom of humanity's barrel in terms of tyranny, corruption, and poverty - because the average IQ of sub-Saharan Africans is 67.

The average IQ in Equatorial Guinea is 59, the lowest of any country on earth.

Freedom House, in its 2011 Worst of the Worst report, highlights Equatorial Guinea as "one of the world's most repressive societies." Its dictator, Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo, is a murderer who ran the Black Beach Prison where countless prisoners were tortured to death. He has ruled since 1979, declared himself to be his country's God who "can decide to kill without anyone calling him to account and without going to hell" in 2003, and last January was elected by leaders of the 54 member-states of the African Union (AU) to be its Chairman.

His picture is everywhere in the country: (sorry foto did not copy)

Although the AU is headquartered thousands of miles away in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, Obiang has built a huge AU conference center outside of Malabo, a hyper-luxury hotel, and a beautiful 18-hole golf course. Along the links are 54 identical multi-million dollar villas for the exclusive personal use of each of the AU's 54 leaders. Obiang himself has a number of Presidential Palaces, and bought a $31 million dollar home in Malibu, California (and a $15 million dollar apartment in Paris) for his playboy son Teodorin, whom he is grooming to succeed him.

Obiang uses his country's oil revenue as his personal piggy bank, enriching his friends and family while the average citizen of his country lives on $1 a day. But there is nothing at all exceptional about him. He is merely yet another example of what in Africa are called Big Men - narcissistic charismatic sociopaths who gain power however they can, never let go of it, look upon themselves as demi-gods for whom ordinary morality does not apply, utterly convinced they deserve to be worshipped with total obedience, and to live in complete extravagance while being completely indifferent to the poverty of others.

Remind you of anyone in America?

Africa's most infamous Big Man today is Robert Mugabe, Zimbabwe's dictator since 1980. There are many others. Jose Eduardo dos Santos, a Communist guerrilla leader, has been dictator of Angola since 1979. Idriss Deby of Chad since 1990, Meles Zenawi of Ethiopia since 1991, Isaias Afewerki of Eritrea since 1991, Yayhya Jammeh of Gambia since 1994, Paul Biya of Cameroon since 1982, Yoweri Museveni of Uganda since 1986, Blaise Campaore of Burkina Faso since 1987 when he murdered his predecessor in a coup.

Omar Bongo was Gabon's Big Man from 1966 to his death in 2009. In Gabon's capital of Libreville, there is this small monument on the ocean front.

Some homeless guy was sleeping on it when I took this. (so solly, no foto) This was Bongo's execution site, where folks he didn't like were shot with their bodies falling into the sea. It was erected by families of the victims, with no sign or any indication saying what it is. When he died two years ago, his son, Ali Bongo, was promptly "elected" president.

Gnassingbe Eyadema seized power in Togo in 1967, establishing a president-for-life personality cult that included comic books with him as a superhero and an entourage of 1,000 women who danced and sang in his honor. When he died in 2005, his son, Faure Gnassingbe, was "elected" to be Togo's Big Man.

Nowadays, these banana republic tinpot dictators are viewed by the international community as anachronisms. The only reason anyone pays attention to them is resources, like oil in Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, and Angola.

But when Zero was born in 1961 and during all the years when he was growing up, Africa's original Big Men bestrode the world's stage. The first leaders of de-colonized independent Africa - none of them elected, all handed power or seizing it - were lionized internationally as Heroes of the Third World. Whatever extravagances or bloody "excesses" they engaged in were whitewashed.

Occasionally, when some psychopath became too flamboyant, like Uganda's Idi Amin, he was condemned. But Ghana's Kwame Nkrumah - whose soldiers' marching chant was "Nkrumah can do no wrong! Nkrumah can do no wrong!" - really could do no wrong internationally. TIME Magazine ran a cover story on him as "dawn's early light" in Africa, while the Soviet Union awarded him the Lenin Peace Prize in 1963.

He was a Marxist, of course, who hated the West and its capitalism. Ghana, as Britain's Gold Coast colony, was amazingly productive and prosperous when Nkrumah took over in 1957, and he ran the economy straight off a cliff. Julius Nyerere did exactly the same thing when he took over Tanganyika/Tanzania in 1961, ruling until 1985. He's lionized to this day: in 2009, the UN General Assembly designated him a "World Hero of Social Justice."

Big Men ideologues ruined their economies -other examples would be Northern Rhodesia/Zambia's Kenneth Kaunda or Guinea-Conakry's Sekou Toure. Those who weren't, didn't - like Felix Houphouet-Boigny ran the Ivory Coast from its independence in 1960 to his death in 1993, or Hastings Banda who ran Nyasaland/Malawi from 1961 to 1994 when he died at age 99. Nonetheless, they were presidents-for-life in a one-party state.

Many others were just full-blown kleptocrats, Guinness record holders of arrogance and corruption like Congo/Zaire's Joseph Mobutu (ruling from 1965 to his overthrow and subsequent death in 1997).

Africa's biggest Big Man of all was Kenya's Jomo Kenyatta. He was too smart to be a Marxist, and kept the economy going with British help as Kenya's first president from 1963 to his death in 1978. He was also utterly ruthless. If he couldn't buy off a potential political opponent, he had him assassinated. One of them was a charismatic fellow named Tom Mboya.

Mboya had gone to Oxford where he learned his Marxism. He was best friends with Ghana's Kwame Nkrumah, and the author of The Principles of African Socialism which Nkrumah loved and Kenyatta ignored. As Mboya's popularity grew, Kenyatta tried to placate him with a cabinet position as Minister of Economic Planning and Development. It failed, as he openly talked of challenging Kenyatta's rule. On July 5, 1969, Mboya was shot to death by a gunman on a street in Nairobi. He was 39 years old.

Ten years earlier, in 1959, Mboya organized with Nkrumah's help the Airlift Africa Project granting scholarships to students from Kenya and a number of African countries to attend US universities. One of the first to receive such a scholarship was a young friend of Mboya's and fellow Luo tribesman named Barack Hussein Obama.

After his dalliance with Ann Dunham at the University of Hawaii and Ruth Baker in Massachusetts, Obama returned to Kenya in 1964, where Mboya got him a job as senior economist for the Ministry of Finance. When Mboya was assassinated, Kenyatta had him fired, and according to his son's book, Dreams of My Father, he became an alcoholic. A Big Man, Jomo Kenyatta, destroyed Obama Sr.'s life and his chance to be a Big Man himself as the protégé of Mboya.

When you read Zero's account of his father in the context of decolonized Africa and its tradition of Big Men, you realize what his dream is: to be an African Big Man himself. The current President of the United States is not an American, not in his soul. He is an African. Not an "African-American," for that term only appropriately applies to descendants of Africans brought to America as slaves.

Zero is completely lacking in that ancestry and cultural heritage. His ancestry and heritage is half black African, which he embraces, and half white American, which he despises. He has no interest in being an American president. He wants to use the presidency to be a Big Man, to be worshipped and obeyed, to rule by executive decree, to live like a king and play more golf than conduct the business of state.

By now, you are no doubt focusing on the most worrisome feature of this, that Big Men never give up power willingly and will do whatever it takes to retain it. America has the deepest, most historically entrenched traditions of elected government in the world. How will America's Big Man attempt to subvert them?

IQ, general intelligence, has a genetic component. It also has a nutritional component (as in Africa), and certainly a cultural component. In addition, it can affected by attitude. That is, it is quite possible for smart people to make themselves really stupid - just look at all the devotees of the religion of Warmism. Or for folks of ordinary intelligence to be really dumbed down - just look at our public education system and its OWS products. The term "libtards" is not simply one of derision - liberals, often quite bright, have inflicted mental retardation upon themselves.

Big Men in Africa flourish because average African IQ is so low. A majority of American voters willingly retarded their brains to African levels in November 2008, and according to polls, 40% or more still are doing so. We, you and I, really are in the fight of our country's life. Yet many Republicans are willing to have Mitt Romney fight for them.

The good news is that we are in the fight. It is far from over, it's outcome far from determined. Let's hold on to the insight of Winston Churchill, who observed: "Americans can always be counted on to do the right thing... after they have exhausted all other possibilities."

America's African Big Man has got to be evicted from the White House. Now that we understand who and what he really is, it will easier to serve him his eviction notice.

"Late, GAY father"...???

Submitted by gopcongress on Mon, 03/26/2012 - 5:44pm.

This struck me as odd...

If his dad were gay, how was he conceived?

I like how MRC is going after MSNBC new owner ComCast. Time to turn the tables and shine a strong light to disinfect the very hostile media. A whole bunch of traitors that need to be flushed.

Gosh, Josh, we've all long ago figured out that you and your compadres in the MSM are openly (and with no shame, evidently) practicing liberal advocacy "journalism". And we understand that you are very pleased with yourselves for participating in the MSM propaganda machine. No news here. So what's your point?

It's seems the media is experiencing a bit of schizophrenia. One minute they've decided to out themselves and admit to advocacy journalism. Then it appears that someone notes that viewers like to think there's objectivity in the reporting, so it's back to "bias, what bias?".

You can't blame poor Mr. Elliot. He probably missed the morning staff meeting that told the reporters which hat they'd be wearing today.

It's advocacy but it is disingenuous to call it journalism. Advocacy Indoctrination maybe? Or possibly Advocacy Propaganda? But not journalism.

I agree, that's a brave room.

Submitted by bkeyser on Mon, 03/26/2012 - 8:05pm.

I mean, you've got to be pretty brave considering that the CDC reports:

  • MSM account for nearly half of the approximately 1.2 million people living with HIV in the United States (49%, or an estimated 580,000 total persons).
  • MSM account for more than half of all new HIV infections in the United States each year (61%, or an estimated 29,300 infections).
  • While CDC estimates that only 4 percent of men in the United States are MSM, the rate of new HIV diagnoses among MSM in the United States is more than 44 times that of other men (range: 522 – 989 per 100,000 MSM vs. 12 per 100,000 other men).

MSM = Men who have sex with men

Of course, there's nothing wrong with that. /

reveal themselves.

Orc:

Orcs were described as man-shaped, roughly man-sized, ugly and filthy. Although not dim-witted and somewhat caring towards their own, they are portrayed as dull and miserable beings, which corrupt words (an insult to a philologist like Tolkien) and are only able to destroy, not to create. They have sour black blood; suggestive of reanimated corpses.
