MSNBC's Tamron Hall: 'Should Rush Limbaugh Be Canned?'

By Scott Whitlock | March 14, 2012 | 15:19

A day after MSNBC featured a guest who compared Rush Limbaugh to a "serial murderer,"  Tamron Hall on Wednesday eagerly wondered if the radio host "should be canned." The News Nation anchor repeatedly teased a new Bloomberg poll claiming 53 percent of Americans want Limbaugh to be fired.

Stoking her liberal audience, Hall wondered, "And should Rush Limbaugh be canned? That's a question that's been floating around, but a new poll shows how many Americans feel it's time to say goodbye." A MSNBC graphic touted, "Fire Rush?" [See video below. MP3 audio here.]

Earlier in the 2pm hour, Hall previewed, "Plus, we have details on a new poll that shows just how many people answered this question: Should Rush Limbaugh be fired? How many said yes? We've got that new poll number out there."

The Bloomberg poll's results:

More than half of those interviewed also say radio host Rush Limbaugh, who called a female law student testifying publicly in favor of birth-control coverage a “slut” and “prostitute,” should be fired based solely on those comments.

...

As for Limbaugh’s derogatory comments about Georgetown University law student Sandra Fluke, men are split over whether the radio host should be let go from his job -- 49 percent say so, while 47 percent disagree. Fifty-six percent of women support the move compared with 39 percent who don’t. Almost one in three Republicans, 30 percent, say Limbaugh should be fired for the remarks.

Hall didn't make clear who, exactly, should do the firing.

On Tuesday, MSNBC anchor Martin Bashir featured Politico reporter Joe Williams. Williams highlighted his background covering the police and mocked, "... [Law enforcement] always would catch the serial murder because he was driving around with a busted taillight, not because he had, like, three bodies in the trunk."

He added, "I mean they would always have some incident to really capture him on and this was Rush Limbaugh's."

Submitted by mad53PA on Wed, 03/14/2012 - 3:25pm.

Tamron, please give it a break! Rush is only under fire from MSNBC. The hypocrisy has been exposed, heck even the President of NOW has said that Obama should keep the million from Maher because we want to see him re-elected. Rush is not going anywhere, the left has overplayed its hand and the blowback is just startin!! Obama: Hopeless Change!!!

Maybe Rush should go on

Submitted by motherbelt on Wed, 03/14/2012 - 4:11pm.

Maybe Rush should go on Twitter and say "Enough people! I've moved on!!" LOL

Hall should have said "it's a question that we here at MSNBC have been floating......"

They are going totheeeze this for every last drop they can get out of it.

Until MSNBC cans Ed Schultz and puts Chris Matthews on notice, they should SHUT UP about it.

Glass houses, people.

"Blowback"

Submitted by lrgon on Wed, 03/14/2012 - 5:53pm.

And to think that the neocons didn't believe in"blowback."

Chris Wallace interviewed Newt the other night and asked him about a coming "blowback" from al-Qaeda. The "blowback" Wallace was referring to had to do with the murder shooting by the US soldier. Perhaps he went crazy but perhaps he believed the neocons' "exceptionalism" theory and thought killing folks was cool.

"Blowback" is a direct result of US backed NATO planes bombing civilians and enforcing a "no fly zone, placing embargoes on medicine and contributing to the murder of hundreds of thousands of people that never even heard of 9-11. That kind of "blowback" is difficult for brainwashed shock jock fans to connect the dots. it doesn't make it any less true despite the fact that GOP shills like Rush have dutifully propagandized on the airwaves for the neocons' policies of war, foreign aid and spreading hate in the world.

The irony is that the liberals, should they be successful in their campaign to oust el tubo, will be doing the real conservative movement a favor by removing a neocon voice that supports Obama's interventionist policies.

So, Irgon - here's some blowback on this ignorant post.

Submitted by acaiguana on Wed, 03/14/2012 - 6:50pm.

"The irony is that the liberals, should they be successful in their campaign to oust el tubo, will be doing the real conservative movement a favor by removing a neocon voice that supports Obama's interventionist policies."

You have got to be kidding.

Aside from the fact that your obvious dislike of 'neo-cons' is prejudicial, if not bigoted, to ascribe to Rush the label 'neo-con' is indicative of an abysmal ignorance of neo-con and the like.

You are an obvious Liberal and as such sneak such crap into these threads to make the entire site appear anti-Jewish and as  a whole a bunch of Red-Necked idiots.

I see through your junk.

I have never heard Rush support Obama's interventionist policies.  Show me the proof.  Show me where Rush said, "I support Obama's......" policy on whatever.

Are you really so naive as to believe that these so-called canards can be used against the NB folks as proof that they are fascist 'neo-cons' running the world with a bunch of 'code words' that mean 'conservative values' is racist?  You don't say such here, but your posts can be used as ammunition for Liberal Web Bloggers that NB is such.

If you are a Libertarian, then you fall under the Rubicon of Libertarianism; that is you are woefully ignorant of monetary reality and you hate Jews.  Oh shucks, did I hurt your feelings.  Take a course in Economics, read Adam Smith and study the real history of Gold as a key currency.

You will be disappointed.

So, Libertarianism is actually a very shallow industry and you haven't obviously delved it into it in any depth.

Trying to explain economics to  you and your  ilk is like trying to explain the 'magic' of electricity to a savage.  Either stop with the bigoted crap or take the heat.

Irgon, you like other liberal trolls/posters on here need to

Submitted by gmaniac1 on Wed, 03/14/2012 - 8:55pm.

be asked this question again... why are you here? You are not changing anyone's mind to believe the copy and paste nonsense you get from the liberal media. Heck, I'd be surprised if any of you liberals on here knew exactly what you represent other than vitriolic fallacies about someone you disagree with. So again, you're just spreading venom which does nothing but make you look like a fool. You provide no valid links or sources to your immature garbage and you leave the most bigoted comments about things you do not understand.

Unless you plan on discussing things rationally, which I have yet to see from any liberal minded poster on here, then just go away. You are just proving our claims about liberals instead of intelligently debating them, which again I have yet to see from any liberal poster on here.

However, feel free to make yourself look like a horse's patootie because that's really all that you are doing.

Sincere Regards,

I would more believe that dolphins fly alongside pink pigs...

Submitted by gopcongress on Wed, 03/14/2012 - 3:33pm.

I would more believe that dolphins fly alongside pink pigs than 3 out of 10 republicans, even if all the republicans surveyed were RINO's, think Rush needs to be fired.

And of COURSE they don't say how Rush should be fired. They can only go after the radio stations that carry his broadcast. Even if Rush used the most vile language on radio, he couldn't be fired or fined; only the radio stations feel any effect.

NOTE: I still think RINO's are our worst enemy, though, as they provide a purposely ambiguous position to deflect conservatives away from engaging the socialists, which defaults to the Democratic party ideals as they have no more moderates of note.

Oh you MIGHT try to get his sponsors to pull out...but given HOW MANY people are fans of his and will CONTINUE to listen and BUY from his sponsors - AND are willing to DROP sponsors who drop Rush.

And what's REALLY delicious about all this? You not only look hypocritical in that you fail to chastise those who are many times worse than Rush could EVER be...but you also give Rush a LOT of free advertisment...which simply makes his base LARGER and stronger than ever.

The Poll Question

Submitted by Dirjj on Wed, 03/14/2012 - 4:33pm.

For once, I'd like to know how the question re : Firing Rush, was posed. Does it call Fluke a private citizen minding her own business who was called to testify in front of Congress? or is it honest, and note that she's a hard-core left wing activist who was called before an "unofficial", "unsanctioned" committee of nothing but Democrats? Hmmm

Rush...Keep your eye on Colby Hall

Submitted by OxyCon on Wed, 03/14/2012 - 5:53pm.

Colby Hall created the ridiculously biased far-left website called Mediaite, which is a mish-mash of Media Matters, MSNBC, Jon Stewart and ThinkProgress disguised as a blog about the media.

Just recently (curiously just before this latest attempt to get Rush thrown off the air), Colby Hall left Mediaite and became an executive at Clear Channel. I wouldn't trust Colby Hall one bit. In my opinion, he is a far left activist who is working behind the scenes to slant the media against Republicans and Conservatives. Isn't that what the whole idea behind Journolist was? To implant far-left activists in meaningful positions within the American media?

Watch your back Rush and make sure you get all of your friends at Clear Channel to keep an eye on that snake Colby Hall.

Nonsense poll, of course....

Submitted by Kingfish17 on Wed, 03/14/2012 - 6:13pm.

If this poll is true, isn't it a sad commentary on America when they think someone should be fired because they used the words "slut" and "prostitute". Most of these people probably laugh their rear ends off while watching network television, where the "F" word is barely bleeped out during what used to be called the Family Hour.

Rush will be on EIB when Tamron is long gone from NBC

Submitted by libBuster on Wed, 03/14/2012 - 7:48pm.

So far Rush has outlasted hundreds of newsreaders like Tamron. I suspect Rush will be at the EIB long after Tamaron is gone from MSNBC and looking for work.

Tamron won't even be a footnote in a book on bad journalism. She is unworthy of a response from Rush or anyone else. Rush lasts for one simple reason, he makes money for his sponsors. Tamaron doesn't make anyone a dime.
