Liberal Newsweek Editor Admits: Obama 'Wasn't Ready' to Be President

By Scott Whitlock | September 27, 2011 | 16:18

During an appearance on Morning Joe, Tuesday, Newsweek editor Tina Brown made an off-hand remark about Barack Obama, conceding that the politician "wasn't ready" to be President. Brown has previously attacked Rush Limbaugh and other conservatives for daring to oppose the Obama administration.

While discussing whether New Jersey Governor Chris Christie will change his mind and run for President, the former New Yorker editor blurted, "Actually, I just hope he doesn't, because in the end, you know, his tremendous misgivings, maybe he is right. I mean, We had this with Obama. He wasn't ready, it turns out, really."

[See video below. MP3 audio here.]

On December 31, 2009, Brown mocked Rush Limbaugh, who just hours earlier had been taken to the hospital with chest pains, as a "bad fairy" who ruined the magical story of Obama. She portrayed the radio host as "the bad fairy at Sleeping Beauty's christening" and added, "...Rush Limbaugh utters the words, 'I hope you fail.' 'I hope he fails,' he said, and from that moment, the sort of the Pandora's box opened."

Her full quote on Limbaugh:

TINA BROWN: It's got to be that incredible inauguration of Obama....You started the year with this huge festival of hope and renewal and everything is going to be so different now, and then, like the bad fairy at Sleeping Beauty's christening, Rush Limbaugh utters the words, 'I hope you fail.''I hope he fails,' he said, and from that moment, the sort of the Pandora’s box opened, and the rest of the year has been just this big discord and toxic atmosphere in politics and partisan divide and people shouting at each other and the Tea Parties and death panels."

-Brown announcing her choice for the most important moment of 2009 on NBC's Today December 31, 2009 a few hours after Limbaugh went to the hospital with chest pains.

TINA BROWN: But if he doesn't feel ready to run- Actually, I just hope he doesn't, because in the end, you know, his tremendous misgivings, maybe he is right. I mean, We had this with Obama. He wasn't ready, it turns out, really.

MIKA BRZEZINSKI: Got four little kids.

BROWN: Maybe Christie isn't ready. Maybe he feels like everybody wants him to but perhaps he does need longer.

ANDREA MITCHELL: But, Tina, you could also argue that he might have a better chance at this moment of becoming the president of the United States than being re-elected governor of new Jersey and given all of the problems of running that state.

The bogus potus

Submitted by jon_torlin on Tue, 09/27/2011 - 4:27pm.

He might not have been ready to be the potus(and I will NEVER call him that or even call him an American, that would be a lie) but he's been ready to be a dictator.

How many times has he said he wanted to circumvent Congress or envied China and wished he could rule like that?

Exactly

Submitted by Marcus Porcius on Tue, 09/27/2011 - 5:09pm.

He was NEVER ready to be president, and in fact he never PLANNED to be president.

Everything he does, every person he puts in a cabinet post, etc. is designed to do the exact opposite of what they're supposed to be doing. He works against the country, not for it. His energy secretary is against energy. His health care secretary is against health care. Go down the list.

That's why I call him "Anti-President."

OMG, I've heard it all

Submitted by marpel on Tue, 09/27/2011 - 4:30pm.

OMG, I've heard it all now...Tina Brown actually saying Obama wasn't ready? Of course, he was supposed to be America's savior according to Ms. Brown and her ilk in 2008...

Now, that he's failed the people of the US, NOW she is making the assertion that he wasn't ready after all....Well, Einstein, who the heck voted for him???? I sure as hell didn't!!!

That just chaps my A$$!!!

Submitted by jon_torlin on Tue, 09/27/2011 - 5:10pm.

That's assuming he really was incompetent(and he's not, not according to Lenin and Marx and Muhammed).  Now considering his communist(Ayers, et al) and Islamic background (indonesia et al), he's succeeded at bringing this country down.

Of course, this was very intentional all the while claiming it was what the American people wanted him to do.

We certainly do know that he

Submitted by ForeverOnTheRight on Tue, 09/27/2011 - 4:34pm.

We certainly do know that he was not ready, and Tina Brown is finally admitting it now? We knew that Obama was a president on training wheels, at a time in American history when it was critical that we had a president that knew what he was doing, especially with the economy. Obama could have gotten away with inexperience if he was smart enough to surround himself with advisors and cabinet members that knew what to do. But sadly no, and millions suffer for his narcissism.

Right is never wrong, Left is never right.

Obama is the perfect tool.....

Submitted by adamsmith on Tue, 09/27/2011 - 4:41pm.

The perfect "Lenin's useful idiot"....He was raised Communist from birth and had slid out of representing blacks as a Community Shakedown Artist and got baptized full-on Commie in William Ayers' apartment. He's filled his role as Communist puppet to George Soros and all the other Socialist/Progressive/Democrat/Commies that are the Left's powers that be. He really could lie at the beginning really well. Out right lies that 53 million moronic Americans pulled the lever for. The problem for him now as evidenced at the CBC speech the other night, is he no longer has that smiling charm "Messiah" thing going for him. He's screaming like a black guy who really hates Whitey, and is wearing the obligatory chip on his shoulder. He has made it full circle to "Angry Black Man" with the Man oppressing him. He still has trouble understanding he now is "the Man"......Twenty years from now people will be asking, "How the hell did that fraud ever get elected?" I will answer, THE MEDIA DID IT!!!!!!!!!!!!

Obama is still not ready.

Submitted by Boil It Down on Tue, 09/27/2011 - 5:06pm.

It's not like all the evidence wasn't right in front of the public when Obama was campaigning in 2008. Of course he wasn't ready and I was one of millions who said so.

If not for the likes of Tina Brown promoting Obama and telling the public he WAS ready, he might never have been elected. Obama was the MSM's pick. That is why the 2012 election must be made a referendum on the MSM too!

After all this time, Obama rejects many of the lessons he should have learned in the office. I don't know how many times I have commented that he wouldn't have survived after the probationary period if he were my employee.

He's had enough on the job training that he should be performing much better by now. The fact that he has been such an indoctrinated and rigid ideologue has retarded his progress. -bidn-

And, Andrea Mitchell had to add her own ignorance to the brew

Submitted by Gary Hall on Tue, 09/27/2011 - 5:52pm.

This seems rather fresh of fthe presses:

September 27, 2011

  • A Fairleigh Dickinson University PublicMind poll released this morning shows 54 percent of New Jersey voters approve of Christie's performance, while 36 percent disapprove. That's up from a 44 percent even split in May.
  • The number is the highest approval rating Christie has gotten in a Fairleigh Dickinson poll,

Or, as Andrea Mitchell put it::

ANDREA MITCHELL: But, Tina, you could also argue that he might have a better chance at this moment of becoming the president of the United States than being re-elected governor of new Jersey and given all of the problems of running that state.

Consistency in being wrong - that's Andrea Mitchell.

The only thing that Boy Barry

Submitted by killa37 on Tue, 09/27/2011 - 6:47pm.

The only thing that Boy Barry HAS been 'ready' for is what he's been his whole life - an immature, petulant, spoiled, pampered, lazy, irresponsible, self-asbsorbed little punk-ass who thinks he's some kind of 'black' guy, and has been riding that horse from day one. Oh..........and along the way he became a commie, an America-hater, and a guy who wants to see the USA knocked down a few notches in the eyes of the world..............but he's still the same self-absorbed little punk-ass that he always was. I swear I could see that long before he was 'selected'..........................so the MSM and the voting fools who put him where he is are either blind, deaf, dumb, and stupid.................or they're blatent liars. I"m thinking that both descriptions covers them..............

"Got four little kids"? In the context of talking about Obama not being "ready"?  I'm sure that PMSNBC could find someone, maybe one of the clothing mannequins from Macy's to sit there and not be that dumb....  But, they're probably afraid that the mannequin would show up the rest of their all star line up.

To re-elect Obama would be like the Titanic backing up and hitting the iceberg again.

Obama

Submitted by Cranky_Curmudgeon on Wed, 09/28/2011 - 11:34am.

I cannot help but remember the "post turtle" thing, and Obama was/is truly the poster boy for the phrase. The media and the "leftist liberal elite" (talk about an oxymoronic statement) got what they thought they wanted. Now their problem is to live with it and still be able to go out without disguises and big-dark sunglasses.
To give Mr. Christie credit- he may well know that he is not ready for prime time and is sparing the nation another set of travails.
We cannot but wish that the Obomber had been that smart.

Brown's inadvertent comment revealed what many liberals...

Submitted by PrairieSky on Wed, 09/28/2011 - 4:06pm.

are thinking, but will never willingly admit. Obama, the left's great liberal hope and icon, has turned out to be a crashing failure, even to them, but for somewhat different reasons than those held by conservatives and Republicans.

With next year being an election year, if Obama's approval numbers continue to be as dismal as they are now, we will no doubt see many Dems attempt to separate themselves from him...Obama will be seen as being radioactive, and Dems campaigning for office won't just be running away from him, they will be sprinting away, as fast as they can...Should be amusing to watch.
