Newsweek Features Carville Mea Culpa: 'My Timing Was Off' With Prediction of Dem Dominance
According to James Carville, his timing was simply a "little off" with a 2009 prediction that Democrats would rule for 40 years. The political operative and frequent guest on ABC appeared in the revamped Newsweek magazine to offer an apology for the inaccurate assertion.
The first-person piece in the March 21 issue included an admission that the title of his book, 40 More Years: How the Democrats Will Rule the Next Generation, was designed for the sake of publicity.
He admitted, "I know a bit about selling books, and you need a good title—a catchy concoction with a little Cajun spice, something that will make folks stop in the aisles, turn away from the Grisham novels and the latest crazy diet fad, and pick up your masterpiece."
The Democrat began, "All right, maybe my timing was a little off."
Carville claimed his prediction was simply premature, but added, "Will I be vindicated by 2049? Given my hard-living past, I probably won’t be around to worry about it. That title will outlive me."
This is only the second issue of the "new" Newsweek featuring Tina Brown as editor.
Carville stopped by ABC's Good Morning America on May 09, 2009 to tout the book. (See photo above.) Talking to friend and former political colleague George Stephanopoulos, he fumed, "...These tea baggers, they turned everybody off. There were a bunch of like 75-year-old cranky white guys mad at everything. It just couldn't have been a better event for the Democratic Party. I hope they come back and tea bag some more."
When Carville returned on November 4th, 2010, Stephanopoulos didn't bring the subject up. Although he did on January 25, 2010.

I hope the Tea Party comes back again this election cycle too. I'd also like to see a reporter ask Obama to explain to the American people what exactly the act of "teabagging" entails. Follow up by asking why he chooses to apply a term from an unspeakable sex act to smear half the country, people that former presidents normally referred to as "My fellow Americans".Excellent points.

I'd also like to know why the 40-60% of the American populace who normally disagree with any sitting President's policies are, with the election of Dear Leader, suddenly branded as "racists". These fools actually expect 100% support for the Teleprompter of the United States? This is the problem with 19th century Marxian Socialists...

"According to James Carville, his timing was simply a "little off" with a 2009 prediction that Democrats would rule for 40 years. " They think of themselves as rulers of Americans. Real Americans don't suffer "rulers" well.Beat me to it

You beat me to it, I was going to say the same thing.
It makes me so damn angry when I hear words like that from these socialist dems. It makes me even angrier when I see people voting for these dems which tell me they are either stupid, very misinformed(they were for the little guy!) or just plain don't care and want to be taken care of.
They seem to can't bring themselves to leave this country to be ruled elsewhere for some reason.

Carville and fellow Clintonites like Begala and Stephanopoulus are among the worst political commentators. That's because they are propagandists falsely labeled as analysts. They are aligned with other Democratic initiatives like the Center for American Progress (headed by Clintonista John Podesta) and MoveOn.org to provide a "variety" of information to the shallow fraud calling itself network news, NPR, PBS, and major newspapers. I'm sure the few copies of the Carville's book that sold were on the $5 table at Barnes & Noble and the bird-cage-lining shelf at PetsMart."$5 table"? You're in a very generous mood today or

Being a fellow Louisianan I do too, as most of us here do. We can take a 5-minute trip to the grocery store and stretch it into a 30 minute monologue. That said, most everything that spews from liberal mouths is meant for publicity and attention. And getting people to listen, facts be damned. That's the one true thing Carville admitted.Too late Metamorphs*

Well, @cajun2, I don't know about that.
Anybody's paran could probably have upstaged Carville, IMHO.
What Carville's "audience" (the media, pundits, critics, etc.) don't understand is that THEY are the punchline, and he is laughing all the way to the bank.
That said, the Cajun Court Jester is an effective shill for the Democrat Party which he so obviously loves. Why he still does I don't know except that the Republican elites don't have any sense of humor or ... timing.
And don't think Carville doesn't relish being able to fast-talk these city slickers, no matter which side they're on.
I almost "caught a heart attack" after seeing how the Republicans are snatching defeat from the jaws of victory handed them on November 2, so hopefully Carville won't have the last laugh.

The only time Carville dare stray off the democratic plantation was when he fought to end the ridiculous moratorium. But that lasted a very short time. I'm sure he was quickly put in his place. But Carville has always been a coullion long before politics even when sober. And would you believe, a lawyer who couldn't pass the bar exam is teaching at Tulane University.

Like so many "boomers"( and Barry himself), Carville is probably a pot head. Makes 'em believe they are "sooo special" when, in reality, they are nothing but pathetic, overgrown adolescents who can only make excuses for themselves when outed for the fools that they are. Just laugh at them all. NEVER,NEVER trust a "liberal" (progressive)As a "boomer" I don't

"...something that will make folks stop in the aisles...and pick up your masterpiece." -Delusional demoncrat. He didn't stop to think maybe most Americans would turn away in revulsion at a book celebrating the idea of 4 decades of freeloading, mooching, and central planning statism?!?! And, by the way, where's Sam Tannenhaus' mea culpa over "the death of conservatism" or whatever his book was titled?? Why do people at MSNBC and the New York Times seem to think they're experts on conservatives?! It's like listening to Sri Lankan Cricket commentators talking about the infield fly rule in baseball.
