Chris Matthews Slams '300 Plus' Pounds Chris Christie, Too Fat to be President

Hardball host Chris Matthews appeared at a local event in Washington D.C. on Thursday to trash Republican Chris Christie as too fat to be President. The Washington Examiner reported that Matthews derided the New Jersey governor, mocking, "Chris Christie is moon over New Jersey, he should not wear white shirts, I tell you that."

He continued, "I saw him the other day and I was amazed by it, he must be 300 plus, and that’s something he’s just gotta deal with because you’re not going to say, ‘I’m going to cut the budget,’ well, how about starting with supper?"

Matthews, who appeared at the WMAL radio event, continued to cheer for the man who gave him a thrill up his leg. Lobbying for more time, he insisted, "Shouldn’t this President be given another year before you dismiss him? Give him another year in the presidency before you begin to try to destroy him."

The MSNBC anchor added, "I think we should give him another year. I’d give him two more years, but I’m not the country. I think we ought to give this guy more chance before we get into pure partisanship

On Thursday, the MRC's Tim Graham wrote about Matthews' appearance at the Georgetown Ritz Carlton and the bizarre comment that "'Hardball' is absolutely nonpartisan."

The cable host on the 2012 Republican contenders:

There’s not going to be a great Republican candidate for President in 2012 from I can see. I don’t see a great one looming right there right now. So, if you’re an American and you care about the country, do you really now want to begin rooting for the Republican candidate no matter who it is – because there’s a couple of them running who wouldn’t be great Presidents.

Continuing to riff on various MSNBC guests, Matthews lauded Newsweek's Howard Fineman as "my Spock."

Standing up to and mocking prejudice is not racist or racism though the line may be smeared at times.  However, using race as a tool or component for political, financial or social gain is racism and in a form most harmful to society.

Submitted by JamPony on Fri, 12/10/2010 - 11:36pm.

Yep, the black vote was racist for going with Obama when Sarah "Grizzly Adams" Palin and John "Millionaire Stud" McCain were such a better choice for the black community.

They voted against their own interest just to support the black guy.  Just like I am sure Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton during their Presidential runs also got 90% of the black vote.

When are black people going to wake up?  The GOP is pro-black or else they wouldn't have elected Michael Steele to head their party

Chis Matthew's is the new face of the " Special Correspondents " in Washington. In years past, like back in Matthew's former boss Tip ( three martini lunch ) O'Neil's day the excuse for these retards was all the booze.

Well Matthews and a few others ( Cafferty, Press, Burnstein, etc. ) are still as big of a waste today as back then, without the booze or a good excuse.

I think this crowd ought to be forced to wear safety helmets so we know who they are before they open their mouths. Also this way they won't hurt themselves or the sensibilities of the American people.

Not a very good President?

Submitted by TheHistorian on Fri, 12/10/2010 - 6:45pm.

Not a very good President? You don't know your history.  Let's try these things that William Howard Taft did:

How about Governor of the Phillipines?  1901-1904

Secretary of War, 1904-1908.  Taft was administratively in charge of construction of the Panama Canal.

President of the US after Theodore Roosevelt (1908).  Unfortunately, the Progressive Roosevelt decided he didn't like how he was not so progressive, and ran against him as a third party member.  As a result, the uber-liberal Woodrow Wilson became President.

How about as a Supreme Court Justice?  Warren G Harding appointed him Chief Justice in 1921.

For not being a very good President (your words) he certainly appears to me to have a lot better credentials both before and after than the current office holder.

I do in fact know my history.  Nice try.  One of the biggest problems with Mr. Taft, it has been argued, is that he was more of a judge in temperament than an executive; a fact recognized when he was nominated to be Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.

I notice also you counter the idea that he wasn't a very good president with a resume of his.  So?  What about what he did while in office?

One of the things that makes Christie popular in New Jersey and elsewhere  right now is his standing up to the teachers unions, which have destroyed public education in his state.

If liberals can love a loathsome rich boy like Ted Kennedy -- the man who Jimmy Carter recently fingered as having prevented health care reform in 1980 -- why can't conservatives love Christie?

Ha-Ha, the libs are s-o-o-o predictable - they ALWAYS resort to personal attacks when political dialogue is beyond their capabilities.  Yawn - nothing new here.

But you krissie

are too stupid to have a talk show and yet you do.  Boy is life full of surprises.  Is the best you can come up with is to goof and someone's weight.

If you can tell tell me how your behavior isn't juvenlile.  That this isn't just like some twerp bully youngster in a school yard being abusive,  I'll walk down main street anywhere wearing my favorite tie (only).

Christie is will go down in history as a great leader.  You on the other hand will at best go down in history as what the worst of librat cable partisan programming.

Christie will be remembered in a good light.

Oddly, enough, JamthePony states that Christie is a slob.

Christie is indeed a big boy, maybe carrying more poundage than he should, but every time I have seen him on television, he is well dressed, well groomed, and appears neat.

He most certainly is not a slob.

As Governor Christie slices and dices his liberal opponents relentlessly, adroitly, and mercilessly, the best liberal twits can do is squawk about his weight.

Biggest bunch of whiners to ever draw breath.

MR. TINGLES NEEDS TO JOIN AA!

Submitted by gruyere cheese on Sat, 12/11/2010 - 12:04am.

Hey Chrissy:

Why not attack Gov. Christie with facts and his political record not his weight? Am I to assume everyone at MesSNBC is fit, thin and healthy?

Chris Christie already knows how much he weights. He does not need some alcoholic low life to remind him of it.

The Human Resources dept. at this sorry TV station should have a chat with management about making derrogatory personal comments by their employees, because is a reflection of how they really feel.

Making jokes about someone's weight is equal to making jokes about race, religion or sexual preference. Mr. Tingles is an employee of MeSNBC and represents his company whenever he opens his mouth.

Kathy Griffin insulted Bristol Palin over her weight gain while on DWTS...the media did not make a fuzz out of it!

When Don Imus made a comment about some Rutger's players, his resignation was demanded. Same scenario with Rushbo.

This IDIOT has some real issues glorifying the "all mighty one" or POTUS....this dude needs help!

Matthews is a 'fat head'. Christie can lose weight, but...

Submitted by jawebster1 on Sat, 12/11/2010 - 2:26am.

Matthews will always be a 'fathead'.  Modern history is showing that William Howard Taft, a very hefty President, wasn't all that bad, in fact history shows that Taft, a Conservative, was a very solid President, unlike the socialist string bean who currently occupies the office.

Matthews

Submitted by canuck on Sat, 12/11/2010 - 9:24am.

How does he keep his job?  Move the 300 decimal point one space to the left and it will give you the average IQ of his audience and two spaces to measure their societal productivity.  Even the libs with measurable IQs run from this guy and his ratings demonstrate that.

Submitted by Free Stinker on Sat, 12/11/2010 - 11:37am.

I remember Liberal commentators referring to George Bush's " . . . obsession with exercise that borders on the creepy."

Sarah Palin is a runner.  Watch them (especially Matthews) criticise her for that in 2011.

more liberal tolerance on display

Submitted by wizardjr on Sat, 12/11/2010 - 12:40pm.

Over and over, ad nauseum we hear about tolerance from the lefties.... that is until it's someone they don't like. Then it's okay. The person deserves it, ya know.

The same guy who supports Obama for being black.

Submitted by humanzee on Sat, 12/11/2010 - 1:19pm.

Why do liberals have to be so shallow, superficial?  It just show their mentality.

Obama is black enough to be the messiah.  Christie is too fat to be president 'cause only people the "look" a certain way should be president.

Hot damn.  Where does the brain, mind come into play?

I wouldn't mind if he was an equal opportunity insulter. I can't say I ever remember him saying that Helen Thomas had a face like the bottom of a rat catcher's bait bag.
