ABC reporter Jake Tapper contended on Wednesday's "Good Morning America" that John McCain can still win the presidential election and observed to co-host Diane Sawyer, "...If there's one thing the American people like doing, it's having the media say that this is all over, that one guy's going to win, especially a Democrat." [audio excerpt here]
He added, "And then they say, well, not so fast. Not so fast, media. We have a say on this on Election Day." Tapper also argued, "I would never count John McCain out. It is a very, very big hole he's in. But he can get out." Earlier this week, Tapper was one of the few journalists to highlight a false claim by the Barack Obama campaign that John McCain would "cut" $882 billion in Medicare benefits.
A transcript of the brief exchange, which occurred at 7:10am on October 22, follows:
DIANE SAWYER: Okay, so, overall, as of this morning, can John McCain pull it out?
JAKE TAPPER: Sure. I would never count John McCain out. It is a very, very big hole he's in. But he can get out. And believe me, if there's one thing the American people like doing, it's having the media say that this is all over, that one guy's going to win, especially a Democrat. And then they say, well, not so fast. Not so fast, media. We have a say on this on Election Day.

Dems gloomy over an expected landslide.....
October 22, 2008 - 12:18 ET by semolina_filcherPolitico's Roger Simon puts out an article where he thinks the Democrats are gloomy over their prospects of winning a landslide. In other words, they'd be disappointed if they don't sweep both houses of Congress and the presidency. Talk about high expectations...nothing more I'd like to see than a downer for all libretards on Nov. 4.

wow - that says nothing about contempt for your average viewer now does it?
Kind of looks...

unfortunately
October 22, 2008 - 13:55 ET by mbuelI live in the libtard west. I just hope we can get enough votes to push Rossi into office even with the ACORN cheating.
IMO, without the cheating of the last four decades, conservatives would have won FAR FAR more seats. And I'm not just talking about ACORN, I'm talking about the unbalanced media.
Good Morning
October 22, 2008 - 13:25 ET by MillerTimeWarpGood Morning America....makes me miss the days of Joan Luden. How sad and pathetic is that ?
I would rather be a Conservative nut job, than a Liberal with no nuts and no job
...ahhh Sawyer and Tapper
October 22, 2008 - 13:50 ET by bigtimer...ahhh Sawyer and Tapper along with the other talking heads may want to take a look at this...AP Poll
Polls always tighten in the last two weeks, they have too if any credibility is going to happen for these pollsters to keep their jobs...of course most of the talking heads will ignore these as much as possible...even on election day...lol!

Oooh, do I detect a slight
October 22, 2008 - 13:57 ET by winston smithOooh, do I detect a slight flinch from the media? Remember around this time 4 years ago there were polls that had Kerry up by 9 and 11 and no one in the media believed Bush would pull it out. I think it was Lawrence O'Donnell who was saying that Bush was about to be 'swift-boated'. Then, much to my surprise, I woke up on the morning of the election to see Bush up by 3 in Rassmussen and Bush would win the day. Kerry won the '04 campaign because the media choreagraphed it for him --- but they couldn't choreagraph him a win. I'd bet that internally the media are starting to see some things that don't look so pleasant for Obama. Never a good idea to do the end-zone celebration dance before you get into the end-zone.
Rasmussen/Fox poll has
October 22, 2008 - 14:01 ET by bigtimerRasmussen/Fox poll has McCain ahead by 2 in Ohio, because of Joe the Plumber ect...and up by 1 in Florida now too...plus the latest AP poll I put above with a link...they are tied up now among likely voters nationally.

I wish McCain and Palin
October 22, 2008 - 14:10 ET by winston smithI wish McCain and Palin would have Joe with them on every major campaign stop right out through election day. This guy has really helped inject life into the campaign.
One media guy's prediction
October 22, 2008 - 14:27 ET by nkviking75Jake Tapper: Americans Like Proving Media Predictions of Dem Wins Wrong
Really? Well, since I work in media, here's my prediction: Obama by a margin of 50 million votes and a total of 500+ Electoral votes. ;-)
P.S. On my local level, Tom Harkin wins 99% to 1%.
When you put the clowns in charge, don't be surprised when a circus breaks out.
God help me, I cannot stand that man
October 22, 2008 - 15:08 ET by Iowa BoySenator Harkin, I mean. Generally, I don't get personal with politicians or with people of differing political beliefs. (Notice that I did say "generally".) However, I interviewed him earliy in my radio career when he was still in the House and found him to be arrogant and condcesending with an I-wish-I-was-from-anywhere-other-than-Iowa attitude.
He'll win, sadly because the Iowa Republican party won't or can't find a good candidate to run against him. (God bless you Christopher Reed. For what it's worth, you still have my vote.)

73% disapproval
October 22, 2008 - 14:46 ET by billbFor the past two years, the democrats have held the majority in a congress that enjoys a 73% disapproval rating. The MSM and their polls will have you believe that the American people want to INCREASE this majority. To which I ask; WHY?
