On Sunday night's episode of "The Simpsons," the normally left-leaning cartoon show took a jab at the New York Times and suggested that the liberal newspaper just might end up helping aliens attempting to invade the Earth. During the Halloween special, a visitor from another planet requested that Lisa help him find the "secret locations of your country's missile defense facilities." The younger Simpson excitedly replied, "They were in yesterday's New York Times!"

A transcript of the exchange, which occurred at around 8:10pm on November 4, follows:

KANG: You are very observant, Lisa. That's why I have a special job for you. Go find out the secret locations of your country's missile defense facilities.

LISA SIMPSON: They were in yesterday's New York Times!

I can't help but wonder how

I can't help but wonder how many peoples heads that went right over.

Still glad for the zing though.

I am still furious nothing has been done to hold the NYT's and WaPo accountable for their treasonous info. intentionally on the front page.

Sad, isn't it, when we have

Sad, isn't it, when we have to latch on to the very few times the liberal media is lampooned. We're like an ugly dog grateful for some attention...

ROTFL

Yes, I caught that reference.  I couldn't stop laughing until I realized that the facts upon which this was based isn't actually funny.

Not always left-wing

While they drift left, the Simpsons zing the Dems on occasion.  One of the best lines was awhile back after Clinton had gotten elected. Bart and Lisa were drawing checks by writing "Itchy and Scratchy" episodes.  Since they had to have the checks sent to an adult, they had them go to Grandpa at the retirement home.  When they went to recover the $$ they found that Grandpa had spent it all.  Lisa said to Grandpa....."Didn't you wonder why you were getting money for doing absolutely nothing?"  Grandpa replied "I thought it was because the democrats were back in power."

Another Episode

I can't remember the name of the episode, but in one segment Marge called Clinton "Slick Willie".

Was that the one....

where Clinton was playing sax in a parade? Someone told him to get back to work, and he replied "Biiiiiite me!"

Ignorance is bliss. It's easier to repeat a mindless slogan than to do some actual research.

Funny buys forgiveness

I'm not sure how left-leaning they really are. My impression is that they'll take a shot at anyone, so long as there's a joke there. And yes, I am completely using a double-standard, because they're funny and I'm willing to forgive more because they're actually funny.

Funny buys forgiveness. To a degree, anyway.

Mayor

Yeah they generally take shots at how a "democrat" mayor Joe Quimby runs the town. I haven't really seen a big bias either way.

Agreed

No one is safe from the Simpsons.

They've been around for a long, long time for a reason.

Well, for once, the rich white man is in control. --Montgomery Burns

you just wait..

you just wait until Hillary gets elected. They're gonna tear her a new one.

And then shortly after go off the air or have their entire writing team dies from suicides/accidents/etc.

I disagree that The

I disagree that The Simpsons are "left leaning".  When the grocer scans Maggie in the very beginning the scanner says "gonra" so quickly you can't see it.  They were always very respectful of GHWB and never had a nice thing to say about Clinton.  Their spoof on the Republican party and Birch Barlow running the city was great.

Lisa is a die-hard greenie, vegan, and other lefty stuff but she's always shown to be a know-it-all who thinks she has all of the answers but rarely thinks of the consequences of her liberalism.  When she wished for world peace, Kang and Kodos took over the world with a sling shot because everyone got rid if their guns.  They were finally defeated by Moe the bartender who had a board with a nail in it.  They were sad and predicted that the humans would get bigger boards with bigger nails and pretty soon they'd have a board with a nail so big it would destroy them all.

Not much lefty about that!

Since government is coercion, politics is largely the exercise of deception regarding the intended use of coercion - George Orwell

George Bush Sr.

What about when Homer and G.B. Sr. get into a neighborhood feud after Bush Sr. moves in across the street. They had a nice battle going then Bush Sr. moves out and Gerald Ford moves in and he and Homer are like twins. Very funny.

The Simpsons slams both

The Simpsons slams both parties.

One of my favorite lines is when they are hauling Sideshow Bob off to jail and he yells, ""I'll be back. You can't keep the democrats out of the White House
forever, and when they get in, I'm back on the streets with
all my criminal buddies!"

And the corrupt mayor, Quimby, is clearly a Kennedy.

When the grocer scans

When the grocer scans Maggie in the very beginning the scanner says "gonra" so quickly you can't see it.

Sorry but that was a myth the show put out during one of the "Special Episodes"  Troy McClure (the late Phil Hartman) said that of Matt's  Right Wing Views that he put that in every show.  The truth is that the cash register rings up 362 dollars and some cents.  I can't remember the exact total.

They do lean more to the left of center on most issues but will still zing both sides of the aisle all the time.

Not only that

The show has been relatively-fair to large-L Libertarians, putting their party HQ next to Flanders' "Leftorium" and only slightly crossing Ayn Rand with BF Skinner in the episode where Maggie retrieves the pacifiers.

And lefties, if they weren't so media-savvy, would probably complain more about the antics & accent of Mayor Quimby, who practically breathes "Kennedy." I recall the days when Bill Bennett would go nuts over episodes of The Simpsons which were, ironically, little morality plays -- where good is usually rewarded & evil punished. Thankfully, conservatives like him have somewhat gotten over it these days, but it was fun back then to see Bill fulminate.

Still some left-leaning comments

They still had their left-leaning zingers last night. Bart showed the alien his Iraq soldier action figure without proper body armor.

Also, in the closing credits, one of the credits was "America's healthcare". It was mixed in among other scary names.

"American healthcare"

"American healthcare" scary? I'd think Cuban healthcare is far scarier, with pictures of their hospitals looking something like the bathroom in "Saw". Of course, only a few of us have seen those pictures, so most wouldn't get it...

American health care could

American health care could be the best on this planet.

Provided to exclusively American citizen taxpayers.

The Canadian health care system had a good thing going for us until illegals who had never contributed to the plan sucked the life out of it.  Listen and learn, It can be done for taxpaying citizens.
