New NBC Show Claims Gay Parents Are ‘The New Normal’

By Ryan Robertson | June 27, 2012 | 21:05

From the twisted imagination that spawned the pro-gay high school show “Glee” comes another new sitcom that is poised to take the gay agenda even further. Aptly-named “The New Normal,” the show depicts a gay couple’s quest to have a child via a surrogate mother and the awful conservative grandmother who dares oppose them.

The show premieres on NBC in September, but it already shows the stamp of its conservative-hating creator Ryan Murphy. The show sets up a typical TV comparison. The gay couple in the show is portrayed as loving. And the “small-minded” grandmother who is against her granddaughter serving as their surrogate mom has “Callista Gingrich” hair, is a “bigot” and must be from the South. Throw in pro-Obama comments and you have a show.

Actress Georgia King will play the ‘gay friendly’ surrogate mother who dreams of a better life with more money. She underlines the show’s theme when she says she has no qualms about her unborn child growing up in a non-traditional family. “A family is a family,” she said in the trailer while the couple is shown in bed. “And love is love.”

The series will follow a gay couple, played by Andrew Rannells (“Book of Mormon”) and Justin Bartha (“The Hangover”) on their quest to start a family together. In search for the perfect candidate, they are told by an adviser that whomever they pick is nothing more than an “easy bake oven, with no legal rights to the cupcake.”

Initial press for the show has been generally favorable, despite awkward promotional stills that feature male characters with baby bumps. Lesley Goldberg of “The Hollywood Reporter” predicted “Modern Family” like success for it down the line because of character similarities. “The New Normal's duo could be a window into the early years of their Modern Family counterparts,” she said.

The grandmother, played by veteran actress Ellen Barkin, gives Murphy a chance to target conservatives and therefore is portrayed as a callous and homophobic bigot. This is evident throughout the trailer. Not only does she admit to thinking her own daughter was a “fibroid tumor,” but she goes out of her way to offend the only black character in the show played by NeNe Leakes of “Real Housewives of Atlanta.”.

Barkin’s character was initially confused meeting Leakes’ character and adamantly opposed the involvement of a black woman in the process of impregnating her grand daughter. Leakes’ character responded by bashing opponents of the gay agenda. “Last time I checked it was 2012,” she said. “So why don’t you take your Callista Gingrich hair cut and your racist mind back to the past or the South where it belongs.”

Murphy, the openly gay creator of “Glee,” “Nip/Tuck” and “American Horror Story” has publically expressed his aspirations to push past the boundaries of sex depiction on television. Even “Glee,” once called a “nonpartisan funfest” by Tim Goodman of the “San Francisco Chronicle,” consistently put its teenage characters in explicit situations. Sex and violence were far more prevalent in “Nip/Tuck” and “American Horror Story.”

As the website explains about “The New Normal,”: “These days, families come in all forms - single dads, double moms, sperm donors, egg donors, one-night-stand donors... It's 2012 and anything goes.” It’s a Ryan Murphy propaganda show. Anything goes is correct.

They must be sitting on this stinker. Even when I read about it on a liberal leaning site, the comments all panned it as smarmy with smug dialogue and the NeNe Leaks black character is the typical "sassy black Aunt Esther character that every gay couple has living next door". You know, "Come over and entertain us, sassy black lady".

This is why they want to ban corporate political spending

Submitted by andrew - des moines on Wed, 06/27/2012 - 10:10pm.

The Dems and media are still up in arms about the Supreme Court throwing out bans on corporate political spending. Under these rules, would GE be allowed to put out programming like this and run MSNBC? Of course -- restrictions on the Right and not the Left -- that is what they want.

What do you expect from a cesspool like NBC? It's either lies about conservatives (see Andrea Mitchell) or this morally depraved agenda driven propaganda that turns viewers off. This is recruiting not entertainment, and it gives a whole new meaning to the "proud peacock".

Be aware that a major new study shows inferior outcomes for

children raised by homosexuals. There is pressure to suppress & discredit the study and virtually no reporting on it.

What this means is that there is affirmative moral obligation to protect children from adoption by homosexual "parents". Thus SSM
is not "just" a religious issue.

I have met Mark Regnerus, the author of the study.

Submitted by drsamherman on Thu, 06/28/2012 - 12:56am.

He is being vilified by all of the usual leftist elements, from the LBGT fringe to the other dependent personality disorder lib crowd like the Kos inmates.

His study, which is available at http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0049089X12000610 is notable primarily for questioning the underlying assumption that there is no difference in outcomes between children of LGBT households and those from traditional households. As with most social sciences research efforts to a psychiatrist, we apply a few tons of salt in wondering about the rigor of these studies as they always wander into the emotional claptrap of political correctness. His study appears to be a more thoughtful analysis than much of the "family and children's studies" departments (we used to call that "Home Ec" for short) which are notorious for their predetermined conclusions and politically expedient dropping of evidence that does not fit into their shrill propaganda.

The Emperor has no clothes

Submitted by Mattheus on Thu, 06/28/2012 - 2:11pm.

Whenever I think of liberals and their causes, it brings to mind the tale of "The Emperor's New Clothes". It is obvious that the Emperor is naked, but the weavers convince the Emperor that their cloth is invisible to all but the wise. In much the same way, liberals spin their ideas from nothing, convincing the public through the media that only the wise see the logic in their positions.

And yet, even if one starts with their own assumptions, the conclusions still are illogical. Regarding the "gay issue", the whole basic assumption is that homosexuality is "natural", and that it has a special purpose. So if you are gay, and homosexuality has a special purpose, shouldn't you find out what that special purpose is which makes it distinct from heterosexuality? That would seem to be the logical push: to find out what is this special role that homosexuals have in human society.

But we've really dispensed with that pretense. Now homosexuals demand rights to an "artificial heterosexuality", of adoption and "bio-dads". After all the talk about how boring those straight people are, it's rather ironic that they are fighting to live the "breeder" lifestyle.

Things change, ideas change, but ideas need to be evaluated on their own merit. The ideas which form the basis of "gay rights" crumble under the mildest scrutiny.

"change is enviable" [sic]

Submitted by lotr on Thu, 06/28/2012 - 1:24pm.

This is a banal mantra that mindless pop-libs employ -- that "change is enviable" [sic] (or rather, change is inevitable), and that to resist it (i.e., "change") is futile -- yes, "resistance is futile" -- and they like to pat themselves on their back for their supposed "enlightenment" on this, when in fact it is nothing more than tactic (whether they realize it or not) to take the wind out of the "resistance."

Don't believe the hype.

The fact is, the vast majority of the world, and especially the world's poor, are among those on the supposed "losing side."

Among other things, when people are struggling to get by, perhaps even struggling to survive... such people don't have the LUXURY to engage in such wasteful, narcissistic, imbecilic behavior. As everyone knows, whether lib or conservative, such people "have their priorities straight."

Don't believe the hype. Resistance is NOT futile. And Nature shall not be made a fool.

Submitted by Caringwhiteguy on Thu, 06/28/2012 - 5:52am.

There is nothing funny about "Callista Hair". However, there's no one other than Callista to blame for that. Newt's campaign was doomed after the third time he said "Callista and I . . . . " Unfortunately for Newt that was the line he used the most, and whatever good ideas might have followed fell upon deaf ears.

We are in an era of minority

Submitted by DontFeedTheTrolls on Thu, 06/28/2012 - 6:42am.

We are in an era of minority rule where the majority (heterosexuals, responsible persons, savers, hard workers) is looked down on as abnormal.

This show is one example where about 2% of the population wants to now define marriage and child rearing for 100% of the population.

Look at how black Americans, our supposed leaders and representatives, walk in lock step to support a black criminal as one other small example.

National Treasure movies just took a nosedive for me

Submitted by gopcongress on Fri, 06/29/2012 - 8:51pm.

As enjoyable as the National Treasure movies have been for me, especially with the pro-American heritage positions that the main protagonist, Ben Gates (Nicholas Cage) portrays, Justin Bartha's portrayal as a liberal gay man will take away from any enjoyment I get from watching the films, in much the same way that OJ Simpson negated my enjoyment of the Police Squad movies with Leslie Nielsen.
