Media, Democrats, and the President Have Been in Lockstep with the Tea Party as Terrorists Message

By Rusty Weiss | July 30, 2011 | 14:29

A  A

Throughout his tenure, there have been several facets in which President Obama has been demonstrably weak on leadership, with the debt debate coming to the forefront in recent months.  Now however, lost in that news cycle has been another failure of leadership for the President – his own request to tone down violent rhetoric in this country.  For it was mere months ago that Obama stood in front of a crowd in Tucson that had anxiously sought leadership amidst the chaos of the Gabrielle Giffords shooting; a teachable moment that had The Guardian gushing about how the President had delivered “calm amid the toxic rhetoric.”

That moment of calm has long since dissipated.  Where once the President had denounced discourse that places “the blame for all that ails the world at the feet of those who think differently than we do”, we hear Republicans blamed for holding the American people hostage to their economic policies.  Where once we were urged to talk “with each other in a way that heals, not a way that wounds”, we now hear Tea Party members being denounced as terrorists.

Make no mistake, this ratcheting up of terrorism and hostage-taking discourse directly coincides with recent events in Norway.  The instant that Oslo terrorist, Anders Behring Breivik, was labeled as a ‘right-wing Christian’, liberals finally had their moment to seize upon - not just a chance to label conservatives as extreme ideologues but a chance to label them as violent ideologues.  This message has been a coordinated and vicious attack amongst the media, the Democrats, and most assuredly, the President.

Prior to the Norwegian massacre, references to the Tea Party as extreme were prevalent, but making the leap in logic to terrorism had been scant.  After the Norwegian massacre however, liberals defining the Tea Party as hostage-taking terrorists have become far more frequent.  In the last few days it has become practically commonplace.

This past Friday Politico ran an op-ed titled, The Tea Party’s Terrorist Tactics, which featured an illustration of an individual with a dollar sign-shaped bomb strapped to their chest, and argued that the party had progressed from hostage-taking to “the intentional infliction of harm on innocent Americans to achieve a political objective – terrorism.”

Joe Klein penned a piece for Time in which he accused Republicans of being beholden to ‘Tea Party robots’, and worse, that their perceived unwillingness to compromise is something that would have made Osama bin Laden proud.  The exact quote being that were he alive, bin Laden “could not have come up with a more clever strategy for strangling our nation.”

Rush Limbaugh ran a montage on his radio show to demonstrate that these attacks on the Tea Party aren’t limited to the ever-biased media, but have been coordinated with their liberal leaders in government.  That montage features Democrats echoing the same sentiment ad nauseam, with over 16 different politicians referring to the Tea Party or Republicans as holding the American people hostage.

Former Democratic Congressman, Martin Frost, also in the Politico, cuts right to the chase with an op-ed titled, The Tea Party Taliban.  Frost argues that “like the Taliban” the Tea Party sees “compromise as an unacceptable alternative”.  He claims that the party’s quest for political purity gives them “much in common with the Taliban.”

In lockstep with the sentiments of his colleagues, the President himself delivered a weekly address in which he denounced the Republican solution to solve the debt crisis as a plan that “would hold our economy captive to Washington politics.”

It is enough to make one wonder, where did our healing President go?  Where is the man that calmed during a time of toxic rhetoric?  Where is the man who urged Americans to talk in a way that helped rather than harmed?

That man is a myth.  He simply does not exist.

We will never hear the President denounce such vile language from his side of the aisle.  In fact, we consistently hear the drone of silence from a supposed leader, where such silence equates to consent.

The better question is – Where has our leadership gone?

I'll go way past this one subject................what has the terrible trio NOT been in lockstep about, as it relates to conservatives, TEA partiers, most Repubs, or anybody else that isn't toeing the line???

It's amazing that you can turn on ANY MSM outlet and hear the exact same thing that is coming out of the REGIME, as well as the ruling class of lib/Dems.

Submitted by Jack Bauer on Sat, 07/30/2011 - 2:49pm.

It's actually AD NAUSEAM.

But you are correct.

I remember thinking as a kid, how could THE PEOPLE allow monsters like Hitler and Stalin to manipulate them, and enable the murder of untold millions.

This is how. There's no pretense any more. No shame. Just brazen, naked lust for continual power.

Conservatives just have to keep going around these totalitarians.

Don't be dispirited. Don't let the basterds grind you down. That's what they are trying to do.

THEY HATE YOU way more than Islamo-fascists. Bin Laden. And every enemy of America.

You are THE ENEMY. It's come to this.

All of the above Mr Obama? --- How about ALL OF THE BELOW, instead.

A lot of these coordinated talking points amongst the media and the Dems are obvious. But sometimes the obvious needs to be stated.

Him, the MSM, the dems, and the billionaires helping them.  ALL of them are enemies of America.

The military better figure out if their oath to the Constitution means anything at this point too and decide which side they will be on.

Redifining Terrorism

Submitted by HardRightTurn on Sat, 07/30/2011 - 2:53pm.

Breivik is not a terrorist, as globally defined. Breivik struck at his perceived enemy's ranks, not at random civilians. The American left is distorting the definition of terrorism to suit their needs to vilify the right, and eventually to justify violence against them. Thus it is with every proletariat.

To more fully comprehend the Left, one must read “Leftism As Psychopathy” by John Ray, M.A., Ph.D. Caution, it might scare you a little bit.

Mob tactics

Submitted by Slyrr on Sat, 07/30/2011 - 3:10pm.

This is a time-tested tactic of those who want an excuse to slaughter the people they disagree with.

They get the media, politicians, teachers, and others to keep insulting, mocking, demeaning and threatening those they don't 'like' (in this case, over half the American people).

Then they start making veiled calls for violence, like saying 'I'm not saying we SHOULD kill them, but would it be a bad thing if someone did?'

They stir their followers, the gullible and the inherently violent up to anger. Eventually, one of them does something to act out on that violence.

They continue stirring the people up to anger, driving them to more and more violence.

Eventually, some member or other of the targeted group does something to defend him/herself.

The mobsters seize upon that moment of defense as 'proof' that the targeted group are evil and must be destroyed. They openly call for more violence against the targeted group who are 'out of control'.

Ultimately, their friendly politicians will pass laws that say members of the targeted group are 'enemies of the state' who must be 'driven out or exterminated' for 'the greater good' or 'to protect the public peace'.

Hello, Nazi Germany.

If a Liberal/Democrat politician/media figure wants to put their arms around you, or pat you on the back, all they're doing is looking for a good place to stick a knife.

No surprise

Submitted by jon_torlin on Sat, 07/30/2011 - 3:16pm.

I and a few others here have made the comparisons between what's going on today and Hitler 1939.  Some people have said he was more like Stalin or Lenin, but as you pointed out, they are all complicit in labeling the TEA party like that.  Just right out of Hitler's playbook.  Too bad a few of my friends "poo-poo'd" the idea.

What scares me is that only the Republicans who actually identified themselves as TEA Party or at least sympathetic in Congress may now be targets.  Then there are those people, especially since it's not a true organization but people with the same ideals, they may or may not be targets unless it's like the situation where someone might suspect someone they know is connected to it and does Janet NoBrainitano's "See Something, Say Something" nonsense and a lot of innocent people could be rounded up.

Actually, anyone not part of the Dems, the bogus potus, Soros(and others like him)and the MSM are the ones not innocent, everyone else is.

Oh boy.  I hope it doesn't get as ugly as it sounds like it could.

tea party terrorists?

Submitted by ohio granny on Sat, 07/30/2011 - 3:13pm.

I have a question to ask the media, democrats and little barry and that is if we are terrorists does that mean we can start shooting and bombing?

Of course we won't do that because we think human life has value. But maybe you could be just a little bit honest when you are talking about the tea party. I know that would be expecting too much from all you liars in the media, democrat party and obama.

Lies, name-calling, petty insults -that's all the democrats have

Submitted by Phryj1 on Sat, 07/30/2011 - 3:37pm.

But because they have the MSM's 24 hour pro-democrat spin machine, they can get away with it.

The fact that dems consider folks who think the Constitution actually means what is says are 'radical extremists' says a lot about what the dems think about the Constitution.

They call us out of touch with reality even though they're the ones that don't seem to understand that you can't just go into debt indefinitely, or that's it's reckless to raise tax rates when the economy is struggling and joblessness is high, or that by and large the American people rejected the leftist agenda in 2010. They can't even grasp that compromise is a 2-way street.

They want to make the U.S. into a European style redistributionist welfare state and give the gov't more control over people's everyday lives (right down to what you're allowed to eat!) like some kind of authoritarian hell hole, and they call US un-American.

Reckless fiscal and monetary policy is destroying the dollar, draconian environmental regulations are killing jobs, union cronyism is driving away business and sending state and federal debt spiraling out of control; dem policies are ruining the middle class, and they say we're the ones who are killing the American Dream.

To put it as bluntly as possible, comparing what the democrats have done and continue to do to this country to terrorism would be a grievous and unfair insult to terrorists.

Progressives seem to be completely averse to facts and logic. Apparently, reality has a conservative bias.

most divise President ever

Submitted by MidAmerica on Sat, 07/30/2011 - 3:37pm.

I don't believe obie has much of a chance at reelection simply because when voters are staring at the ballot they have to consider 'Do I want four more years of this?'.  Most will not.

One of the principles of Alinsky's Rules for Radicals is to sow chaos in order to confuse the people so that they will accept radical change that they otherwise wouldn't.  This will only work with people who feel helpless.  However the character of many (maybe most) in this country is independent individualism and not inclined to seeing government, and especially the Federal Government, as a necessity for day to day concerns.  If the established government breaks down Americans will just form new groups and alliances and carry on.  obama is going to be the victim of the whirlwind of his own making.

As strange as it seems but the media is doing to obama what they did to George Bush.  They constantly feed negative stories which turns off the public.  They are creating a poisonous atmosphere which the public hates and will vote against obama to (hopefully) get rid of it.  The hope for a positive feeling in the country is what many thought they were voting for when they voted for obama and now it is just as bad but with a terrible economy.  Someday maybe the people will come to realize that it is the media itself which is creating the poisonous mood and will turn on them.

Obama too big an idiot to be a Hitler, Stalin, Mao, etc.

Submitted by Newsbubba on Sat, 07/30/2011 - 4:12pm.

The theme is correct, but we're missing one main point.

Obama is a dupe, a sock puppet.  He is nowhere near bright enough to be the brain behind this coup d'etat (that would be "coop de tat" to Obama -  Kind of like Marine Corpse) that is currently under way.  He has proved time and again that he borders on downright stupid.  Besides he is a coward, plain and simple.  If his backers walk, he folds like a cheap suit.

I suspect that the real brain is George Soros and a group of other delusional SOB's who truly want to rule the entire world.  The man is a Nazi and learned at an early age just how destruction works.

Regardless of who is shoving a hand up the sock puppets butt, Bambi is just the blabber mouth, but he is still extremely dangerous. He is untouchable because of his race, and literally can and will get away with murder,  and the vast majority of the MSM are too damned stupid to even be curious about what is happening.

We have two saving graces that other countries didn't have when they were toppled.  We have a Second Amendment and 250,000,000+ gun toting citizens who will literally fight the bastards if it comes to that; and we have a military currently that I do not believe will do the will of this RBFSOB if push comes to shove, which it is soon.

Watch for two moves soon.  One to literally confiscate weapons in the hands of most civilians, and one to drastically reconfigure the military, either through retirement of top leaders, drastic budget cuts and reconfiguration of mission, or both.  When you see that happening start practicing at the range.

Treason

This is real treason that we are seeing these last couple of years and especially in recent times.

You are right that Soetoro couldn't be Hitler himself, but at the very least, Goebbels or someone high up there.  It doesn't change the fact that the ACTIONS we are seeing are those out of Hitler's playbook, out of the SS.

I keep wondering when the balloon will go up, or the other shoe will drop.  It's like watching a dam breaking, you know it's going to be a huge wall of water, you know it's going to happen, but you just don't know when, even if you see the cracks already.

I feel like a lot of us are like Almighty Evan who was trying to warn people.  And even his kids knew how to recognize signs of trouble coming by observation(in this case, the animals).  Not the best movie, but a good one for thought.  Even if it has Wanda Sykes in it.

I can see why the liberals would say the Tea Party is a threat. The Tea Party is cramping their style, watching what the liberals are up to. It threatens their way of life- corruption, theft, underhanded deals with union leaders, fraud, collusion, buying off media outlets, ect, ect, ect... Yes, I can see how they would think the American people are terrorists. Luckily, we outnumber them by about 250 million to one.
