Video: Media Fawn Over 'Grown Up,' 'Adult' Obama vs. 'Childish' Tea Party
By Rich Noyes | April 08, 2011 | 11:16
Prior to this week, President Obama had been so detached from the budget debate that some in his own party have openly criticized him. Obama, West Virginia Senator Joe Manchin declared in early March, has “failed to lead this debate or offer a serious proposal for spending and cuts that he would be willing to fight for.”
Yet when the President chose to parachute into the budget talks earlier this week, most of the mainstream media neglected to remember his long absence, but instead acted like White House stenographers in praising his “adult” and “grown-up” approach — conveying the obvious implication that House Republicans and/or the Tea Party have been acting like children.
A video compilation of some of the more noteworthy these comments appears below the fold; a link to audio of remarks by CBS’s Chip Reid, CNN’s Gloria Borger and CNN’s Eliot Spitzer, all from April 5, is here.
CHIP REID (CBS Evening News, April 5): The President said he’ll call congressional leaders back here to the White House every day this week if they can’t reach a deal on their own. One thing the White House is hoping to do is have the President appear like an adult breaking up a childish battle.
CNN’s GLORIA BORGER (CNN Newsroom, April 5): Politically, what he’s trying to do is to be the grown up....
ELIOT SPITZER (CNN's In the Arena, April 5): Every parent knows that voice. That was the president's version of, hey, kids, you don't really want me to pull this car over, now do you?
CNN’s GLORIA BORGER (CNN Newsroom, April 5): [The White House decided] that it was time for the President to come out and sort of be the adult and say, look, there are things we can control in this world and there are things we can’t control in this world, much like you would talk to your kids, and say, OK, this is one of the things that we can control, so let’s just get it done.

DOH-bama when he said, "They [Republicans] could have passed this [budget] 3 months ago. They could have passed it 2 months ago. They could have passed it one month ago, but....."
Uhhh, excuse me, most intellectual one, but didn't you just have a super majority for the last two years? Wasn't this budget due last October? Ooooohhhhh, that's right. Your party didn't want to appear to be big spenders when you knew you were going to get your asses handed to you in October, 2010, and could then point your finger at the Tea Party.
Yeah, right.
By all means – be adult.

Conversation:
Parent: “Son, I know you want a new pair of $89.00 sneakers so you can look cool in front of the other kids… but we can’t afford it right now. So the answer is no."
Child: “Aww Dad, you’re just being mean!”
Parent: “Oh! I didn’t realize that was a mean thing to say… by all means you can have the sneakers! Can we now be “friends” again? …Pretty Please?"
Sheesh!
Adults, huh?

I happen to be somewhere yesterday morning while this was airing live. (Click the video for the full effect.) I was watching this and just stunned at the utter distortion presented by this unfathomably ignorant woman.
This is a testament to the level of intellect of the DC voter. I'd be thoroughly embarrassed to be a constituent of this indignant and obviously unqualified delegate.
[Edit] There's a second video that's equally worth a watch. She actually implied that Boehner and Congressional Republicans are in-effect, "masters." Stunning.
Right, bob...I saw the story

Right, bob...I saw the story online earlier.
Only a person completely without shame could say this straight-faced.

Here's the "adult" Obama

ridiculing the guy with the 8 MPG van.
How mature is this???
Reading about this was bad enough; seeing the supposedly "mature" president acting like this is just sickening.
How badly do you think he wanted to make a nasty crack about the fact that the guy has 10 kids?????
MB - How badly did he? He Did!
Submitted by Grumpy in Arizona on Fri, 04/08/2011 - 11:50am.
IMHO - Although not spoken, Obama clearly communicated his disdain and contempt for the man with 10 kids. He did it through his condescending laugh and long pause before launching into his tone-downed Don Rickels routine.
Thanks MB for posting that link! What a sorry excuse for a man this guy is!

....the Machine realized it painted their Messiah in a not-so-favorable light. So they tried to scrub it. Too bad for them, once something like that hits the internet, issy doomboo.
Every time Der Chairman tries to be cute and funny, he ends up coming off as the condescending jerk he is.
November 2012 can't get here soon enough.

And the really irritating thing is...

I have yet to hear a argument against the Democrat’s intransience to control the budget from the media! All we get is “republicans are mean,” etc. - but not a single acknowledgement of the fact we are in a real budgetary mess!

That's what I meant, Grumpy;

That's what I meant, Grumpy; he was clearly struggling to keep himself from saying something insulting, and it showed.
Talk about making an ass of oneself.
Obama is a master at making himself look asinine!

... It’s just that he has the largest public-relations firm the world has ever seen (the MSM) to run cover for him.

Poll This Morning on News
Submitted by NavyBuckeye on Fri, 04/08/2011 - 11:50am.
I saw a poll this morning while running that said a larger percentage will blame Republicans than will Democrats or Obama if the Government shuts down.
Who cares. I will blame anyone that votes yes to a budget that doesn't reduce spending. I will blame anyone that passes a budget that increases taxes on those already paying taxes (they have 50% of the country they can tax because they are not paying income taxes).
This is ludicrous. Instead of focusing on how the Republicans will not vote yes unless the budget is reduced to a level we can pay for the MSM focuses more on the Government shutdown and tries to force that fear down peoples throats. What a group of devious miscreants.
Shutdown the goverment because then at least they will spend less.
I say cut the IRS first. How much does that save?
Whom are they polling?
Submitted by rogue operator on Fri, 04/08/2011 - 12:48pm.
People who don't pay attention to the news and who don't vote? That doesn't matter that much. The tea party will blow up if the left tries to blame the Republicans for doing what they're supposed to.
Which is more "adult"?
Submitted by rogue operator on Fri, 04/08/2011 - 12:10pm.
Let's play a little game called "Which is more adult?" Is it more adult for a president to:
Support spending as much money as the government takes in or less, or to support spending eight times what one makes?
Flee town when the going gets tough, or to stick in there when things are hardest?
Blame everyone else for the nation's problems, or to take responsibility?
Believe that government is the solution to all problems, or to expect others to have personal responsibility?
Know exactly what the mission is when committing military troops to combat, or to ignore the advice of the representatives of the people being sent into combat, and to outsource responsibility to third parties?
The tea party is inherently a movement about personal responsibility, government accountability, fiscal sanity, and limiting political power.
President Obama is a narcissistic, self-indulgent, liar and hypocrite who is incapable of taking responsibility, and reflexively blames his predecessor or his opposition for every problem in the country.
So I understand the angle here...
Submitted by thescoots on Fri, 04/08/2011 - 12:49pm.
The Tea Party...which is demanding that politicians on both sides get ahold of an out-of-control spending spree and deficit....are acting like children? Well, lets review: How many people do you know have children who have said..."Mommy and Daddy, we need to get our household budget in order....and we need to watch our spending, especially at Christmas time and birthdays"....Um, don't think so.
Blaming those who sounded the alarm rather than those who started the fire will go over like a turd in a punch bowl.....
Hmmm

This pretty much sums up Obama's so-called adult approach.

how in the world did the aggregate IQ of this country descend to depths sufficient to elect this guy? Or is it possible that we have always been this dumbed down?.....No, that can't be...there's no way this country would have survived 200 years of such ignorance.
