Chris Matthews: GOP Candidates Want to Kill Bugs Bunny

On Sunday’s The Chris Matthews Show, the host used one of Mike Huckabee’s Iowa photo-ops as an excuse to launch into an elitist attack on Republicans and hunters. “Who made killing small animals the test of Republican manhood?” Matthews challenged at the top of his show. Over a clip of a vintage Looney Tunes cartoon, Matthews further upped the ante: “Who declared war on Bugs Bunny?!”

Later with his panel, an appalled Matthews noted how Huckabee “told a reporter that he loved to bag squirrels because he fried ’em up and ate ’em with biscuits and a Coca-Cola. What have we come to!”

Noticing how NBC News chief foreign correspondent Andrea Mitchell was squirming, Matthews asked her, “Are you upset by this Andrea? You must be!”

“Absolutely,” Mitchell confirmed, adding a unique sexist angle: “You don’t see any women out there with a gun.”

Opening the December 30 show, Matthews teased: “Gunplay! Who made killing small animals the test of Republican manhood? Who created the small game hunters test for the presidency? Who declared war on Bugs Bunny?”

After a segment on the leading Democratic contenders’ Iowa prospects, Matthews switched gears: “Before we break, Republican Mike Huckabee has shot to the top of the polls thanks to his Christian credentials, but this week he wanted to show Republicans there’s more to him than his faith, so he went pheasant hunting — and boy, was he proud.”

He then showed a clip of Huckabee, holding rifle and pointing to a row of dead pheasants on the ground: “These three birds all said the would not vote for me on caucus night. You see what happened to them.”

Matthews went on: “It used to be that candidates had to show they liked eating the local food — you know, the blintzes, the Coney Island hot dogs, the Philly cheese steaks. But nowadays they gotta like killing their supper!”

After reviewing how Mitt Romney claimed to be a lifelong “varmint hunter,” how Democrat John Kerry wore a goofy camouflage jacket on a 2004 hunting trip, and how then-gubernatorial candidate George W. Bush shot an endangered bird back in 1994, Matthews played the Bugs Bunny card: “So do Republican voters really believe that using a big gun to kill small varmints really makes someone more qualified to be President of the United States? It all reminds me of Bugs Bunny and good old Elmer Fudd.”

For viewers who might not get the reference, Matthews showed a clip of Elmer Fudd pointing his gun at Bugs: “Now I got you! You’re a dead wabbit!”

Matthews then turned to Newsweek’s Howard Fineman: “Howard, getting back to Huckabee, he told a reporter that he loved to bag squirrels because he fried ’em up and ate ’em with biscuits and a Coca-Cola. What have we come to! What's with the hardware and the gunplay here?”

Fineman cautiously replied, “Uh, limited regional appeal, I would say, on the biscuits. But I’ll tell you what, Huckabee is great at the iconography of politics and Republican campaigns. He really is.”

Matthews: “Fried squirrel?”

Fineman: “Fried squirrels and the crosses in the background — he’s doing great with his voters.”

Matthews to Andrea Mitchell: “Are you upset by this Andrea? You must be!”

Mitchell: “Absolutely. You don’t see any women out there with a gun.”

After another round of jokes about eating squirrel, Matthews ruefully ended the segment: “Somewhere out there a 13-year-old boy or girl is thinking, ‘If I’m going to become President, I’d better get myself a rifle.’”

“Who made killing small

“Who made killing small animals the test of Republican manhood?”

I'm not sure Chris, but if you find someone who knows, ask them who made high taxes and huge government spending proposals the test of Democratic compassion.

O-o-o-o-o-o-o-o!!!!

NICE!

Right, Chris...who WAS that

Right, Chris...who WAS that Republican candidate who tried to show how macho he was by striding into a licensing office and asking "Kin Ah git me a huntin' license here?"

I'm still waiting for Crissy

I'm still waiting for Crissy to go on a hunting trip with Cheney.

BTW is this guy, who drools over how good looking he thinks BJ Clinton is, still trying to pass himself of as an objective journalist?

Ask John Kerry

about hunting! Remember waffles out there duck hunting a day or two before the 04 election? Chrissy must have forgotten that little embarassing episode. Lurch out there with car-harts & a 20 guage.

Now in r/e Matthews remark, "what have we come to?"  What an ignoramus. I imagine in Arkansas (like here in Indiana) you EAT what you shoot.

Chardonnay sippin' sissy

sheesh

Can't compare to Dem manhood...

Well I guess to Macho Matt, Republicans just can't compare to the macho image of presidential candidate Michael Macho Dukakis riding around in that big ol macho tank.  That too large for him,  helmet bouncing all around, thinking he looks all powerful and such.  I laugh so hard! This guy doesn't know what manhood is, he thinks taking nudie pictures of someone is torture!  I laugh SO HARD!!!

Umm, Mister Matthews, ...

... on what do you dine?

Someone somewhere has to kill what makes up your daily sustenance.

And there are hundreds of thousands of 13-year old American boys (and girls, Andrea) who every day pick up rifles, thinking not of the Presidency, but of dinner, or defending themselves, or simple recreational amusement.

And I am sure those security guards you brushed past on your way into the studio are not packing water pistols.

Thank you for evidentiary Example #129,044,356 that you are a Leftist, elitist snob.

I do believe it was Political Correctness that killed off the Looney Tunes, Chris. We don't hear of Speedy or Pepe anymore, and they've been taken off Looney Tunes' rosters for quite a few years now.

I always laugh bitterly when I hear some liberal complain about the political correctness they helped create, then enabled and encouraged.

They don't have the Looney Tunes on Cartoon Network anymore.

It shouldn't surprise me because it's a Turner network, but you have to have Boomerang or the Looney Tunes Golden Collections to watch them anymore. Thank goodness I have Volumes 1-4 (still need 5) otherwise I would never see the Looney Tunes because I don't have Boomerang.

Then they had to go and ruin the 3rd and 4th volumes by putting Whoopi Goldberg on at the beginning to explain how there are racial slurs, stereotypes, blah blah blah, and that these aren't for children. As the characters of the Looney Tunes would say "Ah phooey."

My wife and I have already said that the only thing our kids will watch are the Looney Tunes. No Barney, or other cartoons, just Looney Tunes. I mean we grew up on Looney Tunes and we are fine.

Southern Cooking

Squirrels, biscuits, & Coca Cola?

Sounds like southern cooking to me.  In making red eye gravy (ham), I believe, Coca Cola is used as an ingredient.  Now, not being a fried squirrel aficiando, I don't know whether red eye gravy is used...but the biscuits the Huck mentioned would seem to give me a clue.  Either that, or he's going to drink the Coke....or maybe he prefers sweet tea.

So what Chrissy...didn't you ever hear of regional fare?  What a joke.

Hunting

Let's see here, Chrissy. I am conservative (I suppose by most standards), yet (gulp!) I don't hunt and do not care to.

YET, I support the right of people to do so if they so choose.  Besides, hunters in TX perform a public service as far as I am concerned.  This state is FULL of deer.  The deer population is kept under control, thanks in large part to those who wish to hunt them for sport.

Who made Chris Matthews a test of being a Puss

What Chris Matthews IS IS a patrician from the east.

For a little history on these eastern patricians we can go back to the French and Indian War and the American Revolution. While Matthews and his English and Dutch patricians were sitting safe in New England to Virginia "not rocking the colonial boat", real Americans in the Scots, Germans and Irish in the Ohio Valley were having GENOCIDE PERFORMED ON THEM by Indians, French and English empires.

These same red state now blue state patricians can be found with glee saying Global Warming will kill off all the red states people as Newsbusters reported.

Chris Matthews is this ilk. For the record, George Washington ate squirrel, Daniel Boone ate Squirrel, Abe Lincoln ate Squirrel, Kit Carson ate squirrel, Buffalo Bill ate squirrel etc.... etc.... etc....

What Chris Matthews IS IS a bigot and should be fired for his patrician slams AS WHAT HE DID WAS THE SAME AS SAYING BARAK OBAMA EATS WATERMELON AND FRIED CHICKEN. That is what his liberal ilk just did. MSNBC SHOULD FIRE MATTHEWS.

For the record to patricians, squirrel is a spectacular meal. While they will eat eggs from bird nests and mine apparently love suet which is beef tallow, they eat mostly seeds rich in fats and their meat is is akin to antelope in being savory, sweet and not the least bit gamey. I do not like Huckabee, but he is correct in fried squirrel is wonderful.
I instead make mine as stewed. The last one I put into Brunswick Stew which was very good too.

What kind of sorry world do we live in when Matthews does not realize that cabbage bleeds sap when you kill it and it too does send out impulses or cries in death. This Vegan stupidity and patrician flat world nonsense of all things are not living when you are a liberal and buying them out of a deli is pure ignorance.

Too much preaching here to the masses..........but I certainly hope that young boys and girls are begging for Crossman and Red Ryder bb guns and target shooting with them for the day when Mom and Dad both take them out to harvest the bounty of nature which Conservatives created in our Game system of renewable resources.

Theodore Roosevelt showed time and again that the hunter was the training for the best soldiers in the world. Take to the field and forest, move through the hill and glenn, breathe in your souls the breath of life.........and breathe the Spirit God has waiting for you to Life in you.

I pity Chris Matthews as he is void and will never understand what it is to be a gentleman or a child of God.

God bless Chris Matthews to find Peace.

Squirrell stuffed with black olive, MMMM, MMMM,MMMM.

What wine do ya think would go good with that Chrissy?

It's funny far-leftist's like Matthew's and his ilk think that "only conservatives" like to hunt. But I'll tell ya' by golly here in central-Va. there are plenty liberal hunter's, African-American's especially.

It was a few close black ("gasp, he said "black") friend's of mine and their families through the year's by the way, who introduced me to some of the south's most haute' cuisine, concerning animal's of all sizes and genuses, and I'm sure they would take offense at Chrissy's little remark.

And may I say Blonde your mention of the red-eye gravy absolutely had my mouth watering, but I dont' know how well it would go with black olives. I was thinking maybe some feta cheese sprinkled on it, along with those olives.

Now I wonder what ol' Matthew's and Mitchell would think about some cow tongue, hog's head cheese or some turtle soup to round out the meal?

YeeeeeeHaaaaaaaw !!!

And how do the actions of

And how do the actions of Republican Presidential hopeful Huckabee in his zeal to demonstrate he is a hunter to the NRA vote differ from the actions of John Kerry 4 years ago when HE went on his ceremonial hunt to re-affirm HIS NRA credentials?   I don't recall hearing Matthews crticize that.

Matthews has either a short memory or a hypocritical bias.

gunplay

Since we make fun of liberals for mangling details about guns, let us note that Huckabee is holding a shotgun. You wouldn't use a rifle to hunt birds.

I will ruefully end

I will ruefully end Chrissy's segment with: "Somewhere out there a 13-year-old boy or girl is thinking, 'If I'm going to become a journalist, I'd better get myself a lobotomy.'"

Liberal: a power worshipper without power. George Orwell

I take it Matthews is not

I take it Matthews is not a Teddy Roosevelt fan, either. I read once he ate squirrel in the White House!

Ever notice how many liberals like to romanticize ancient hunter/ gather tribal groups, but are completely turned off to hunting? I have not hunted in years, but I will say that both Fried Squirrel and Squirrel Gumbo are very delicious.

If I were an animal and had the three choices 1. of being raised on a factory farm, 2. Living in the wild but being killed by animal predator fangs when I was weak or  3. Living in the wild and being shot.  I would probably choose the third.

The poison of Multiculturalism has made people so that if the "Borg" of Star Trek were to show up saying "resistance is futile, you will be assimilated", half the Western World would call those of us who resisted "Bigots" and "xenophobes".

Some 10 years ago when I

Some 10 years ago when I was running a bar and restaurant. I  was talking to a guy at the bar about grouse hunting. I had a great Brittany and I would hunt the northern Catskills. It’s hard hunting, if you bag one or maybe two a day you have had a day worth bragging about. Just about that time a woman seated three seats away starts to give me grief that I hunt and how could I kill defenseless animals, while she was eating a hamburger. After I told her that as a grown man I did not have to defend myself because it was a legal activity. But.. in this case I would, I started to tell her that that grouse had a hell of a lot more chance then that cow did that she was chomping downon. Then I went step by step how that hamburger got to her plate. I mean STEP BY STEP, leaving nothing out. She slammed her burger down and walked out, I yelled you forgot to pay your bill she shot me the finger. The whole bar roared.

The hypocrisy of the left is just unfathomable.

I can abide a true Vegan

I can abide a true Vegan who is anti hunting.  I will not agree with them, but at least I can respect them.  But meat eaters that are anti-hunting I have a lot of problems with.  Now I understand if someone who eats meat cannot bring themselves to kill, just as long as they do not try to stop others.  I say this because every time I have killed a mammal or bird I felt a little bad, yet I eat meat all the time. So who am I to oppose hunters, as long as they eat the meat? I do not have as much sympathy for fish, though I do believe you ought to kill them before "cleaning" them. I always try to kill catfish with a hammer before skinning them.

Andrea's Leftist Elitism Confirmed

This just proves how utterly out of touch with reality Andrea really is.

• According to the National Sporting Goods Association, 2.4 million women hunted with firearms in 2005, a increase of 72 percent over 2001. Participation in target shooting grew by 50 percent over the same time, while the number of women bowhunters grew by 176 percent.

• More than five million women enjoy shooting, according to the survey. That's up 50 percent since 2001.

• Among female target shooters, the number using air rifles grew by 55 percent between 2001 and 2005. Use of rifles grew by 53 percent during, use of handguns by 33 percent, and use of shotguns by 16 percent.

• Women ages 18 to 24 represent the fastest-growing group of female hunters and shooters, followed by those aged 35 to 44.

A couple I know are great

A couple I know are great shooting sports enthusiasts.  Both are avid large and small bore competition shooters, have competed at Camp Perry and done well, and both are NRA instructors.  She is deadly accurate with her favorite rifle (used to be an M1A, not sure what it is now) out to about 800 yards plus.  One of their summer vacation trips is to go West and shoot prairie dogs for farmers/ranchers from a few hundred yards away.  The property owners want them to visit their properties and "bid" (room and board) against the other for their free services.

She is also a great nurse who has helped save lives and comforted many in the ICU.  She is one of the nicest, most even tempered persons I know and has more common sense and manners than Matthews and Mitchell combined.

Well, there you go....abortion is OK because it's cheaper than feeding and clothing all those babies.

Syrius, why should I pay for either the abortion or for the raising of the child? If I didn't get the gal pregnant, why should I be held responsible? Now, if you are so disturbed by their situation, you can start a charity to take care of all the little b*****ds, and those who also feel guilt can freely contribute.

Did you ever stop to think that if all of the socialist programs weren't around to relieve these females of the responsiblity for their actions, there wouldn't be so much of that activity going on?

Certainly people have the right to reproduce. They also have the responsibility to take care of their own children as I did mine. If they can't assume their responsibility, then they don't need to be reproducing.

Why are their mothers aborting them in the first place?  I'll tell you....laziness and poor planning. And don't even go there with "in cases of rape".  That won't wash here.

Why are couples forced into overseas adoptions?

But it's fine, we know you're a liberal and will come back at us with nothing but talking points.  It's too nice of a day to get into it here, yet again, with the likes of you on the filthy topic of abortion.   So you don't have to answer, I know what you'd say, anyway.

Blonde...

Actually, I'm a fiscal conservative wanting the social conservatives to come to the ramifications of a policy they are unwilling to broach. Call me what you like you won't be censored (I'll keep my comments civil in this debate). Beyond the laziness and poor planning, how would you care for those who are unsupported? They would be human beings and if born here, American citizens. Depending on how you care for them they could grow up to be Rightwingers or Leftwingers. What would you like to see?

I think it's time to pull the trigger on having a better policy for the unsupported.

Fiscal conservative + social liberal = contradiction?

Who pays for your social programs...the tooth fairy?

Yours is God? Mine would the US Congress...

Actually, social programs aren't bad if used correctly. SOCIAL SECURITY, pensions, workmen's compensation, Medicare, Medicaid, Transportation infrastructure all can be attributed to LIBERAL policies before you were born.

Syrius

The GOP going for the Gold!...

http://www.youtube.c...

On what do you base that statement, Syrius?

Why do you assume I would rely on God?   Have I said or implied anything of that nature?

However, religious people and groups have an excellent record of caring for those in need.  In fact, studies show that they give and do far more in that area than secular folks.

On the other hand, the government has a record of badly misusing our money, including in the areas you mention.  Now, you would increase government's social responsibility?  Again I ask: who pays for it...the tooth fairy?

Clearly, your claim of Fiscal Conservativism + Social Liberalism is a contradiction that doesn't hold up to scrutiny.

RJ...you again?

"However, religious people and groups have an excellent record of caring for those in need. In fact, studies show that they give and do far more in that area than secular folks."

The proof would be...in the pudding?

Secularism is not a religion. The US has cared for many the world over not just religious groups.

I have asked the question on how would you pay for the unsupported unborn. I have not proposed a larger gov't or programs. I'm just asking should we pray it away like it doesn't exist? Personal responsibility? Tell that to a young passed out girl having sex with a predator? A broad statement meant for the debate.

I notice you are totally dodging the issues I raised in my post....rather, you are trying to derail the thread by provoking RJ.

You can't be Syrius (I was

You can't be Syrius (I was waiting for an oppurtunity to throw in that pun).  Actually the pregnancy rate for rape is less than 0.6%, so if you think that is a valid argument for killing children, I don't agree.  And yes, rape and incest are tragic.  How would adding another tragedy aleviate that?  Two wrongs never make a right.

Those who beat their swords into plowshares usually end up plowing for those who didn't. - Ben Franklin

Syrius, if you kept yourself informed

you'd have a memory (or not!) of the various studies that showed religious people and groups give much more to charity than secular people do.  It also showed that American citizens give much more per capita than individuals in any other country.  (Here's one, and it took me all of 5 seconds to find it) and (Here's another)

Yes, you asked the question "how would you pay for the unsupported unborn" and it has been answered by me and several others.  Also, in spite of your denial, you've suggested that government social programs would be the best way to care for those babies.

You've again suggested that I think "God" or "praying" would take care of it.  You also claim that I think secularism is a religion.  For the second time, I challenge you to provide backup that I've said or hinted at any of that.

Fiscal conservative? HA!

Actually, Syrius, your beloved social programs are NEVER used correctly. Most importantly, they create a culture of dependency. Don’t believe me? Go visit the Nanny States in Europe sometime.

Social Security would be much better off if we began a gradual program of privatization. I know that I will have a much better retirement than what Social Security can HOPE to provide, do to MY savings and initiative.

Ditto Medicare and Medicaid.

Transportation programs...mostly done in the name of national defense, a concept that Leftists are allergic to. (To ensure the Constitutionality of the Interstate highway program, all that is needed is to tie it to the post office. But I digress.) Let me remind you that the rails were built on private initiative; the rails were and are owned by private companies. (Of course, I’d rather see the federal government dump Amtrak...) Also, mass transit is a creature of city governments. Any federal dollars spent on such programs is, IMHO, pork spending that should be stopped, regardless of party. (But then, Leftists love to confuse what cities provide in the form of services with what the federal government can do.)

You, a fiscal conservative? HA! Res tantum valet quantum vendi potest.

Syrius

You're so-called fiscal conservatism vs. social conservatism has nothing to do with this.  Although I find it interesting that a so-called fiscal conservative would immediately jump to a big government solution for a community-based problem.

Two words for you...personal responsibility.

The time for "choice", as I've posted here a thousand times before, is before one hops between the sheets.  This little distinction applies to both men and women, BTW.

When I grew up, unwanted pregnancies ended up in a prolonged vacation, and an adoption.

Granted, there will always be instances of abuse and neglect, we have laws on the books to deal with that.  The severing of parental rights at an earlier stage in the abuse/neglect cycle would mitigate a child living in foster care for an extended period of time.

There are plenty of private agencies who do an excellent job of working with these children and placing them.  I used to work in the non-profit sector for many years, now as my community service I review grant applications locally.   So, I still have my hand in.  I'd most highly recommend volunteering locally, in whatever capacity, to have an impact on local issues.  Whatever they may be.  Rather than looking to Big Brother to fix what ails you.

<edit>  BTW, I would much rather my tax dollars be used to support programs for American children in such unfortunate circumstances, than to pay for illegals' medical care, in-state tuition, incarceration, etc, etc.  I just saw another poster here quote the figure $338B per year to support illegals...you think that might be enough to do something about abused/neglected/unwanted children here, by funding private programs rather than the big Nanny-state solution?  We need to get our priorities straight, once and for all.

David Gregory, do you know which damn network you lie for? ~ Uncle Jimbo, @Blackfive

I think we

I think we
would all, Syrius included, be surprised at how many people would step
up to their responsibility if we didn't have the convenience of
abortion. Back in the day "having to get married" was an option. Guys
stepped up and married their pregnant girlfriends; some of them even
made their marriages work out. Now when a woman gets pregnant the guy
says "I'll help you get rid of it." And more women would rather kill their babies than give them up for adoption. Somehow, I can't come around to thinking that's a good thing.

But Syrius thinks that Joycelyn Elders had the right idea:

"Every child a planned and wanted child."

That would solve all our
problems. Let women abort babies they didn't want, and the there would
be no child abuse. Look at how well that has worked out. Child abuse
is nonexistent now, right?

Well put Blonde

I could not agree more; when I was in high school a long, long , loooong time ago there was one girl pregnant in our senior class. Believe me it was a shock. As we all know now schools have day care for all the out of wedlock children. Which we pay for. I debated medicare with my debate team at that time. Boy, would my view change....

Anyone who thinks the illegals don't use the "free" or "you and I  pay of it" services is crazy.

What part of conservative do you not understand?

You're starting the conversation too late. A true social conservative believes that if you don't want children, or can't support them, don't have the sex in the first place. It still amazes me that social liberals demand that government be responsible for the children of the unresponsible.

  • Why are you criticizing government? Government didn't procreate these children. The blame goes to the biological "parents" who performed the sex without being prepared for the consequences.
    • By the way, it wasn't social conservatives who taught these young and poor parents that sex was OK whenever you can get it. Social conservatives didn't teach anyone that hooking up was OK. That was a social liberal "achievement," as I recall.
  • Quite the contrary, social conservatives teach respect for the family, and to build a family according to the traditional way.  And if you're going to wave off that criticism that kids and the poor are "going to do it anyway," or that it's "just part of modern life," then so is the unwillingness of the rest of society to pay the bill.
  • If you're a true conservative, you should be suspicious of the effects of government to solve a problem. You should know that when you create a safety net for having unwanted children, you're protecting the very behavior you're trying to avoid.

We'll do what we can, but if you think we owe anyone to fund their irresponsible sex life, get that out of your head immediately. And if you want to help out, you can start by teaching kids to be responsible, instead of whining about the lack of a huge, worthless, self-perpetuating bureaucracy.

Just for a start ...

Fiscal conservative? Spoken

Fiscal conservative? Spoken like a true communist hypocrite.

 BwaaaHaaaHaaaHaaaa !!!!

I cant' help but to get a good ol' rip-snort of that whole "but I'm just a fiscal conservative" b.s. line.

Here's new's for ya' bud, Stalin, Lenin, Pol-Pot and Mao were fiscal conservatives too. They took full advantage of a system they could manipulate and not have to pay into, just the people.

Quit tryin' to phone in your phoniness on being a conservative on whatever the platform is.

When it comes to fiscal conservatism, liberal's are the biggest follower's. They didn't become limousine lib's for givin' thier million's away, they'll just take it from me n' you.

Alway's remember, Democrat's reach for everyone elses wallet's before they reach for their own. There's a waitress in Iowa who can back that up.

Yea, a Brittney, I can hear

Yea, a Brittney, I can hear her snore right under me now.She is almost blind I have to lead her to the back door, she can’t hear too well. So most of the time I have to walk into the back yard and let her follow me back to the house. Quite a change from her younger days when I would follow her up and down the hills and mountains of the Catskills. Its saddens me to see her get old. She was bad off a few weeks ago, the vet suggested I put her down but if she is not in pain then we will manage. I had to carry her outside for a few weeks but she has come back. Its good that she remembers some of her bird dog commands, like easy.. she slowes down when I can yell it lough enough so she does not run into things in the house.. Or come- a- round, she turns a 180 and goes in the other direction. Some people say you only get one great dog in a life time, I have had two, she is my second.

So I guess I have better luck then the average...lol

Syrius said: “Wouldyou be

Syrius said:

“Wouldyou be willing to feed and clothe all the unborn through a big gov't program?Increase taxes to make sure we can pay for it? Would you open your doors andcare for them? What you say? No more killing and you get to take of them, right?”

I think that some how through time, we have taken care of babies with out government programs, or killing them. Its called responsibility. When you have a child..you take care of said child, BECAUSE    ITS   YOUR    CHILD.  Not the government, or the butchers at the abortion clinic. It is sad to see that babies have to pay for with their life, that fact that being born is an inconvenience.. or a struggle, but that being said: (I see you made it safe)

So keeping with your thought we should kill every one in the inner city that cost us money? We have to pay to feed them,( food stamps) We have to help them with  their housing,  Section 8 housing. We have to pay for them NOT TO FIND WORK, unemployment. We pay for their health care.

And by theway I have been a foster care parent a few years ago, I put my money where my mouth is..  As well as a big brother as well as a scout leader, and soccer and softball and basketball coach.

How about you?

These are the boys of Pointe du Hoc. Ronald Reagan- 40th Anniversary of D-Day

Your entire strawman is

Your entire strawman is false.  Let me try:

"Would you be willing to feed and clothe all the unborn" - Yes, there are long lines of people waiting to adopt.  I know several couples who have gone to China, Guatemala, etc. to find a baby to love.  The prolife counselors in your neighborhood will gladly connect expectant mothers up with good families.

"all the unborn" - they are babies, not the living dead.  Calling them unborn implies that they are less than human.  I reject that and so would anyone who is honest.  For example, each human being has unique DNA (except for identical twins, who share identical DNA).  The "unborn" has DNA unique from thier mother.  We (criminalists, paternal testing cliniques, etc.) identify people by their DNA, ergo the "unborn" is a human.

"through a big government program" - No need for a government program at all.  All of the Body of Christ would be willing to step up to the plate here and have shown so over the years.  Before FDR, it was the churches role to take care of those who were less fortunate than others.  The Great Depression and the New Deal changed all that (because it is hard to feed someone when you are starving yourself).  I am not hammering FDR, he did what had to be done at that time, it just should have had a sunset clause.

And yes, I would open my doors to them.  Have in the past, will in the future.  and I agree with my friends here, the real problem is the idea, prevalent in our society, that actions should have no consequences, when the reality is that actions always have consequences.  That is the main problem with social liberals - their thought process is divorced from reality.

"What you say?" - I say yes.  And I am not alone.

Syrius, Happy New Year,

Syrius,

Happy New Year, jackass.

I saw this guy in a biker

I saw this guy in a biker bar down in Daytona for bike week and just to tweak the abortion people he had a Tshirt that said

The difference between hunting and abortion is

We plan to eat what we kill

Is is just me, or is the

Is is just me, or is the hatchet-faced Ms. Mitchell, starting to look like Stalin's mother?

Check out my exclusive edit of BBC News America's interview with Mrs Clinton: It's news to me!

Jack-

That is so unfair ...

I mean, what did Joe's Mum ever do to you, huh?

women with guns

“Absolutely,” Mitchell confirmed, adding a unique sexist angle: “You don’t see any women out there with a gun.”

**what, you don't remember ann richards .. nuff said ..

never look a gift skunk in the tail ..

Any guess just how many

Any guess just how many times Andrea has gone hunting to verify this factoid?

I guess Mitchell thinks all

I guess Mitchell thinks all hunting parties should include a woman, a black guy, and an oriental dude so the critter can be shot by a politically correct hunting party.

What have we become?

Elitists ie Chris Matthews & Andrea Mitchel who feel superior because they have someone else kill the meat they eat?

Kerry hunting trip OK

Didn't John Kerry promote his hunting trip during 2004?

As to Andrea Mitchell's unique sexist angle: “You don’t see any women out there with a gun.” That's why, Mitchell, when they come for the women, there'll be no one left to speak up. Nice legacy you're leaving the girls, dumb-ass!

Anyone else notice....

That the liberals are the ones much more likely to generalize and group people together under a "catagory" and then assign that catagory motives? Isn't this the heart of prejudice - to pre-judge someone based on their group or catagory that you place them in.

The day that "politician" became a career choice is the day we started losing the Republic. Let's get it back! Alan Keyes '08.

I pick up *my* rifle

because I'm worried about who's gonna become president! yikes!:)

“You don’t see any

“You don’t see any women out there with a gun.”

That's a rather sexist statement from Ms. Mitchell. Is she saying that no women hunt game or ever would?

If you didn't live in NY all your life..

You might remember your Gandfather hunting Squirrels and eating them yourself, if you didn't live such a citified live......and nobody in Iowa lives a NY city life.  Maybe the reason  why they don't have guns in NY is that all the Central Park Squirrels would be food for the "homeless" ?

But hey, those Squirrel eating relatives I remember were from the "Depression" era.....That was before the Global warming Polar Bear huggers and the Green Environmentalist.

JT, remember your cholesterol

I think he has a point, actually

I never watch MSNBC or Chris Matthews because I get plenty of Liberalism reading AP stories.  But in this case, I think you guys are getting your dander up over a relatively accurate observation.

Huckabee deserves criticism and mockery for doing a photo-op with a gun and dead animals.  All blatant political ploys such as this deserve scorn.

It's like Huckabee is trying to say "Look at me!" "I'm just a normal conservative guy.  See?  I shoot things!!"

(You'll never see Fred Thompson doing that.  Ever.)

And this comment by Matthews is particularly funny...

He then showed a clip of Huckabee, holding rifle and pointing to a row of dead pheasants on the ground: “These three birds all said the would not vote for me on caucus night. You see what happened to them.”

No doubt Matthews is a flaming Lib, but I wouldn't refer to the commentary as examined by Mr. Noyes above to be unfair liberal bias.

Also, Syrius is not the only "moderate" on this board concerning abortion.  I consider abortion to be just a symptom of the overall moral decay that faces this nation.  Until/unless we as a nation acknowledge the decay as a problem, there is little usefulness in fixing one of the symptoms.

Um, Syrius is no "moderate", Timothe

Where on earth did you get that idea?

As for Matthews, if he had left it at the "holding a rifle"  (it was a shotgun, not a rifle, by the way) it would have been one thing, but he, typically, didn't know when to shut up and went overboard.

"Who made killing small animals the test of Republican manhood?"  Republicans?  Liberals have notoriously short memories, but remember Kerry?  JFK?  Many other Democrats?  So, yeah, it was another hit piece, not just on Huckabee, but on the right in general.

 That's funny Chrissy, a

That's funny Chrissy, a Wino making fun of a Rino.

Here's one for ya' Chrissy:

Who made the killing of small fetuses, the test of liberal manhood?

Or better yet:

Who made being a lying sack-o-sh't, biased, slobbering-idiot, a test of manhood?

That's easy Chrissy, you.

So when your out tonight Mr. Matthew's getting uber-drunk, the alcoholic you are (say hi to Randi Rhodes for me), making fun of all of us un-civilized conservatives, oogling and salivating all over every female (not your wife), that comes within 2 meter's of you (just like on your show), Have a Happy and safe New Year (dont' puke, piss, sh't your pant's, wreck your car or break your neck doing a kegstand).

In your case definitly take a cab !
