MSNBC's Melissa Harris-Perry Charges 9/11 Gave Americans 'Post-Traumatic Stress Syndrome'
The host of MSNBC's weekend program The Melissa Harris-Perry Show used a racially charged speech on Monday to claim that the events of 9/11 sent America into a “nationalist fervor” that resembled post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
While addressing the liberal Take Back the American Dream Conference in Washington, D.C., Harris-Perry asserted that “for about a year, there were African-American men walking around the city of New York with NYPD hats on. That can only be explained as a PTSD response.”
According to a video published by The Blaze, the Tulane Professor of Political Science also said that the terrorist attacks gave people in the United States the ability to “stomach a kind of horrific racial violence in the name of national security,” something that “we have been willing to stomach as a people over and over again in our history.”
Americans, of course, responded in very typically American ways to [terrorism], something that many people in the rest of the world had already experienced. We began with a kind of nationalist fervor that was justified as reasonable patriotism.
Harris-Perry added that “the other thing that happens in that moment, I don’t want to miss this, is that a new version of what America typically needs emerges, and that is a racial enemy,” which includes Muslims, Arabs, Sikhs, “or something else.”
She added that “Americans in part identify who we are, and who deserves what, through our notions of whiteness and of the racial enemies that are the non-whites.”
The weekend program host then turned her attention to the USA PATRIOT Act, which stands for “Uniting (and) Strengthening America (by) Providing Appropriate Tools Required (to) Intercept (and) Obstruct Terrorism” Act of 2001.
That legislation “was not the act of a Republican president working alone,” Perry said. The law was the result of “a bipartisan decision by both parties. It was not bought and paid for by corporations; it was bought and paid for by our fear.”
We have to remember that it was our collective angst that gave permission to Democrats in the House to rally behind Republicans in the White House under the banner of nationalist patriotic security with the goal of both reducing our civil liberties and giving us an entrance into what at this moment is an everlasting war.
“We made those choices,” Perry noted to tepid applause from the audience.
From there, she summarized all of her points by discussing one of the nation's worst disasters, Hurricane Katrina, which “shamed us into an anti-war stance.”
From September 11, 2001, until about September 4th, I'm gonna give it, of 2005, we are trying to participate in the nationalist patriotic fervor against the imagined racial enemy that is those others over there that are activating terrorism against us right until the levies failed, we realized that we've allowed our own citizens to drown, to die, to dehydrate on camera, and we go “Oh!”If you can't get water to an American city for a week, how can you prosecute a foreign war?
I find it interesting that Harris-Perry uses events after 9/11 to promote the concept of America having an “imaginary” enemy, since the terrorist attacks on September 11, 2001, were in no way “imaginary,” nor were they caused by “imaginary” people.
Nevertheless, as NewsBusters previously reported, Harris-Perry regularly uses racial terms to make her points, even on the first day of her weekend program on MSNBC. During her debut on February 18, the liberal host joked about one of her guests being “the last black Republican left in the party.

First name Malicious.
Since she has been rewarded in her life for being a race baiter, I doubt there will be any positive change anytime soon. Every rating's point or industry recognition of her inflammatory performances further cements her behavior like a pet Pavlov dog on the Democrat plantation. She is Harvard professor, and beer summit buddy of Obama, Henry Louis Gates but with twin X sex chromosomes and a daily national microphone.

And the problem with the Race Industry . . .
Submitted by Galvanic on Thu, 06/21/2012 - 9:52am.
. . . is that everything in the world is tied to their concept of race. When one wears Race Goggles, everything looks like a racial issue.
I recall a brief encounter I had with a college-age black woman in Washington DC in October 2001, weeks after 9-11. I was downtown as part of a small counter-protest group during a big ANSER-sponored anti-US/capitialism parade and rally. The young lady asked why we were hated Osama bin Laden, and after we explained the obvious, she said -- and apparently in all sincerity -- "You all hate him because he is a man of color."
I can only imagine that this young woman was steeped in the kind of dogma that Harris-Perry, Sharpton, and Jackson promote. That dogma includes the assumption that whites can never accept non-whites as equals, and as Harris-Perry espouses, must always have a non-white enemy to fight. They are blinded by the dogma, and when they appear on TV, they blind white liberals who don't have the brains or the courage to call them out on it.

Every thought this woman has is based on hatred. And I don't think I'm overstating it. She blazes with hatred for this country, and especially whites. 9/11 to someone like that just becomes a new medium to espouse her hate. The brush that applies the colors to her own demented tapestry. Her theories are illogical, but that doesn't matter to her. Just spitting her venom at us is her "kick", and that's all she's inteterested in.
And for the record professor, the muslims, Arabs, Sikhs and all the "something elses" (like Africans, Italians, Irish, Chinese, Asians etc. etc. are what make up America. To hate an American is to hate the world. Which the terrorists do) Her rage is limited. Just whites. Specifically white men. Most definitely white Republican men. Another phony intellectual who's an 18 carat genuine bigot. I'm sick of A-holes like her.

I suspect we'll see this theme replicated by many on the left, particularly among African Americans and the CBC. If so, it's either plagiarism by everyone who follows, or a concerted effort (plan of attack) to divert American's with another shiny object. Anything to not talk about Obama's failed record.

It really irritates me when leftists in the US and Europe say that 9/11 wasnt a big deal because terrorism is nothing new to the rest of the world, implying that this was a new experience for us. Besides Israel, I cant think of another country who has been the victim of terrorism more than we have since 1979. To me, 9/11 wasnt the first act, but rather the last straw. It was a "no more Mr. nice guy", moment for us. As far as what happened in New Orleans, she seems to have forgot that its african American civic leaders bolted before the storm hit. As far as I know, they still havnt returned.

Such and such is because the skin color. Yadda yadda opposes this becasue skin color. He's the best, but his skin color makes people not think so. Asking a question - never dare if his skin color was white.
Its almost absurd at this point. I wish someone out there had enough free time to compile a "best of" video that wrapped all their doosies from the past year into one clip. Although, it would probably end up being closer to movie length.

The principles of racism have been pounded into her skull with vengeance by lefty academics and peers to the extent that her world view is completely shaped by this distorted gestalt. She been richly rewarded for repeating the approved mantras and has no reason to change her viewpoints or expand it so that she sees the entire picture of the world around her, rather than a tiny sliver of it.
