DU Fraudster Blames Conservatives for AZ Shooting, Has History of Posting Violent Fantasies

Of all the utter hypocrisy currently being displayed by many of those on the left over the tragic Arizona shooting, it would be hard to exceed that of the notorious fraudster of the Democratic Underground best known to the outside world as the perpetrator of the 2006 Karl Rove indictment hoax.. William Rivers Pitt of TruthOut, with enormous chip on his shoulder, has climbed up on his DU soap box and self-righteously pointed his finger of blame directly at conservatives. Ironically, although Pitt blames conservatives for supposed political violence that led to the tragedy in Arizona, it is that same man recently chronicled here in NewsBusters for being caught in an act of plagiarism who himself has a history of posting violent fantasies on the Web. Just weeks prior to posting his "THE WRATH OF FOOLS: An Open Letter To the Far Right," Pitt posted these Hateful Days violent fantasies:

There is a great deal of hate in my heart today. . . . The hate is a free-flowing thing, expanding in all directions. . . . Sarah Palin. . . . George H. W. Bush. . . . makes me want to give up on this tepid reporting job and take up firebombing. . . . Yes, I hate, with depth and passion, and have much cause to do so.

This was no fluke on the part of Pitt. Weeks later, on December 27 of last year, his violent fantasy about a possible car injury to George W. Bush was so over the top that the DU moderators had to step in and lock his thread. Here is Pitt posting his disappointment in the very title of his thread over an AP report about a car crashing into the front yard of the former president because it wasn't close enough for his liking:

This was too much even for the DU moderators and his thread was locked with this note of concern:

Pitt's history of posting violent threats went to such an extreme that last May he was kicked out of the Democratic Underground for two months for threatening physical violence on a fellow DUer, bobolink, who is a homeless woman. Here is the message from DU Adminstrator EarlG on why Pitt was being removed from Democratic Underground:

Last night Will Pitt repeatedly threatened another member with physical violence. After the moderators deleted those messages he sent the threats again to the member via private message, during which he challenged the member to report his behavior to the moderators, implying that he would not be held accountable for his actions.

We don't enjoy banning people, particularly people who have been here a long time. WilliamPitt left us absolutely no choice in this matter. This is entirely his own fault and responsibility.

Pitt's violent threats against the homeless woman were removed from DU but they were preserved for posterity before deletion by the Conservative Cave. A sampling of Pitt's sick threats against DUer bobolink:

Now that you have an idea of the strange violent place that Pitt is coming from, you can better appreciate the utter hypocrisy of him blaming conservatives for the Arizona shooting:

You false patriots who bring assault rifles to political rallies, you hack politicians and media personalities who lied through your stinking teeth about "death panels" and "Obama is coming for your guns" and "He isn't a citizen" and "He's a secret Muslim" and "Sharia Law is coming to America," you who spread this bastard gospel and you who swallowed it whole,I am talking to you, because this was your doing just as surely as it was the doing of the deranged damned soul who pulled the trigger. The poison you injected into our culture is deeply culpable for this carnage.

You who worship Jesus at the top of your lungs (in defiance of Christ's own teachings on the matter of worship, by the way) helped put several churchgoers into their graves and into the hospital. You who shriek about the sanctity of marriage helped cut down a man who was about to be married. You who crow with ceaseless abandon about military service and the nobility of our fighting forces helped to critically wound the wife of a Naval aviator who fought for you in a war. You who hold September 11 as your sword and shield helped put a little girl born on that day into the ground.

...And yes, I'm talking to you, Sarah Palin, you unutterably disgusting fraud. You pulled it off your ridiculous website, but it's out there: you put cross-hairs - literally, cross-hairs - on Rep. Giffords, you blithered about "reloading" instead of "retreating," and you made this country more stupid and violent with every breath you took. Well, congratulations, you failure, you quitter, you inciter of mobs. You put the cross-hairs on her, and someone finally pulled the trigger. Run from it all you like, Lady MacBeth, but this blood will never be washed from your hands.

...I'm talking to you, Rush Limbaugh, and Sean Hannity, and Bill O'Reilly, and Michael Savage, and Ann Coulter, and Laura Ingraham, and to every other right-wing tripe-spewing blowhard blogger and Fox News broadcaster. I hope you are proud of yourselves, because this is the day you get to reap what you have been relentlessly sowing since you were forced to encompass the unmitigated outrage of a Black man winning the office of President of the United States.

Well, if he wasn't sure before, he's probably sure now. Because the liberal left politiicans and media have practically GIVEN him his defense strategy on a silver platter! You think he (and whoever lousy lawyers he gets to defend him) aren't going to take everything the hating left media has said over the last couple days and use it as weapons to get him off the hook?

All he'll have to do is say, 'Sarah Palin made me do it', or 'The right-wing media made me think violent thoughts'.

And the left in media, politics, colleges, et. al., will fall all over themselves with sympathy for this crazy murderer. 'Oh, he didn't mean to do it - he was just brainwashed by Beck and Limbaugh!' 'See, see - Sarah Palin's use of targets on that map drove this poor man to murder!'

You know that, or something like it, is what will happen during his trial.

Paul Krugman, Jane Fonda, this weird Sheriff and the whole school of loons at MSNBC will eat it up like a yummy dessert. And they'll forget that someone facing a death penalty will say or do anything to get out of the noose - and the left has GIVEN this guy a script of exactly what he should say to get their sympathy.
