Michael Moore Holiday Message Cites Quote Lifted by Rove Indictment Hoaxer

By P.J. Gladnick | December 27, 2010 | 22:12

A  A

Michael Moore, in his Christmas Message to his readers, cited a quote by William Rivers Pitt who is best known to the world as one of the perpetrators, along with Jason Leopold and Marc Ash of TruthOut, of the journalistic hoax that Karl Rove had been indicted on May 12, 2006. Here is Moore quoting Pitt who is quoting without attribution Douglas Adams in "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy":

Hey Everyone,

I just wanted to wish you a Merry Christmas (or a Merry Everything) and hope you are all well today.

Here's a good thought from the writer William Rivers Pitt:

"Before Santa and presents and shopping and all the attendant Christmas (stuff) got involved, this holiday was enshrined to commemorate a guy who got nailed to a tree for daring to tell people to be kind to one another. If you have two cloaks, He said, give one away. Remember those who have less than you, be charitable, be good, be merciful."

Hear, hear.

One "small" problem...Pitt never credited Douglas Adams in the piece cited by Moore. Here is the Douglas Adams quote that Pitt lifted:

...nearly two thousand years after one man had been nailed to a tree for saying how great it would be to be nice to people for a change...

And how do we know that Pitt intentionally lifted that quote from Adams? Because Pitt himself admitted as much but only AFTER he was called on it in the Democratic Underground thread he posted to let everyone there know that Moore was quoting him when he was really quoting Douglas Adams. Here is a DUer "ruining" the party by calling Pitt on his plagiarism:

Mister Douglass Adams Would like to have a word with you for plagiarizing his word, if he wasn't dead. For shame, Mister Pitt. For shame.

Pitt then attempts to laugh it off but does admit that he stole the quote:

Good eye.

"Good writers borrow from other writers. Great writers steal from them outright." - Sam Seborn

I ain't great, but I definitely nabbed the line.

Thank you for that admission, Will, AFTER you got caught in the act.  Although William Rivers Pitt has been condemned to political purgatory following the exposure his Karl Rove indictment hoax, there is still a small opening for him that might be available...on the staff of Joe Biden.

Please, don't ever do that

Please, don't ever do that again! I saved a comment on another thread, I click back to the home page and - AIEEEE! I see a close up shot of Moore staring out like a great white shark, eyes bulged and mouth fully open - like he was coming through the screen to swallow me whole! I literally recoiled in horror!

Rather than giving advice

Rather than giving advice about charity, Moore should practice charity.  He gives very little.

The newsworthy haedline would be MICHAEL MOORE DONATES 95% OF HIS WEALTH TO CHARITY.

Moore is just another pampered Baby Boomer celebrity.  He rants and rants about giving everyone's tax dollars away, but he'll never understand that the best way to get folks to believe and follow is to walk-the-walk himself.

Remember what Jesus said

Submitted by CobraMan on Mon, 12/27/2010 - 11:39pm.

"Remember those who have less than you, be charitable, be good, be merciful."

It's always fascinating when Liberals quote or, as in this case, paraphrase Jesus.  It's to bad they pick and chose which "peaceful" message to quote. Jesus wasn't as peaceful, as charitable, as the liberals like to claim.  After all, it was Jesus who said: "Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword."

The Lord did implore us to give. He did NOT implore the government to confiscate it from us and give it to those who would never try to provide for themselves again but insure their vote inperpetuity.

Michael Moore is an adept propagandist who is advancing the lies the liberal elites want advanced, therefore he wins accolades and prizes for that reason and that reason only. The crockumentaries he did that were on subjects the libagentia didn't care about fell on their asses. Speaking of enormous a&&es.

Moore finally gets it

Submitted by dtruth27 on Tue, 12/28/2010 - 2:25am.

Moore used this quote in his message:

..."this holiday was enshrined to commemorate a guy who got nailed to a tree for daring to tell people to be kind to one another.  If you have two cloaks, He said, give one away. Remember those who have less than you, be charitable, be good, be merciful."

And then Moore added a "hear, hear."

Good to see Moore is on board with the Conservative philosophy.  Notice it says "give." This means of your own free will, not taken away from you by the government and redistributed to others.  Mr. Moore, get out your check book and immediately give all of your wealth to the needy.  If you think the government needs the money, write them a check.  They accept overpayments as gifts.  There is nothing stopping you, not even the extension of the current tax laws for ALL.

And for all of the Liberals who says that Jesus would be a Liberal if He were alive today, all you would have to do is show that Liberals support abortion and it would be game over.  No way would Jesus support this act, especially against children, who He considered to be precious in every way and would have done anything to protect them.

Game Over.
