Film About Murder Spree Titled 'God Bless America'
From denying God’s existence, to attacking Christians, to attacking the Bible, Hollywood has launched an all-out war on Christianity in America. A new black comedy titled “God Bless America” is Hollywood’s latest effort mocking God and the United States.
Comedian ‘Bobcat’ Goldthwait produced the new film titled “God Bless America” featuring a hopeless man named Frank fed up with an increasingly crude and vapid society. Frank and a teenage girl he meets along the way decide to “off the stupidest, cruelest, and most repellent members of society” – and proceed to do so with reckless abandon. Frank poses the question: “Why have a civilization if we are not longer interested in being civilized?”
The trailer makes sure to include a hate-mongering Christian minister attacking Jews and homosexuals among the killer’s many targets.
While Frank’s rage against a shallow society is understandable, “God Bless America,” like Showtime’s hit TV show “Dexter,” celebrates a man who justifies using violence against people he considers evil, claiming “I only want to kill people who deserve to die.”
Unlike “Dexter,” the movie is clearly a black comedy that does not take itself seriously.
However, the movie’s title takes a gratuitous shot at the Christian God, by implying that God has “blessed” America with fools and idiots that need to be eliminated, and at those who revere America’s Judeo-Christian heritage. Goldthwait also depicts Christians in the usual Hollywood manner – by equating them all with the members of the extremist Westboro Baptist Church.
If a director were to make a movie titled “Allah Bless Saudi Arabia,” and had his protagonist indiscriminately shoot hatemongering imams, teenaged girls and people in movie theaters, he would be instantly blacklisted in Hollywood as a hateful bigot. But attacks on Christians garner only praise from the artistic community.
A movie that invokes the name of any religion’s God to justify gratuitous violence, no matter how cynically or “humorously,” goes beyond the pale.

“Why have a civilization if we are not longer interested in being civilized?”
I would argue that war is not a "civilized" activity, but it has sometimes been necessary (and it will be again) to get some very "uncivilized" and barbaric rulers out of the way so that civilization can survive, Hitler being a prime example.
To accomplish this, our country has asked some of our best citizens to step up and perform the "uncivilized" acts so that all of the others can survive.
The premise of this show is obviously stupid, but the question that Frank asked above isn't. Sometimes civilized people have to do things that they hate, but it is the only way they can survive in what is a very cruel world. There has never been world peace; there is not world peace; and there will never be world peace.
So unless the RBFSOB's goal is to unilaterally disarm this country so that others may destroy us, he needs to go, now.

From anything I have ever been able to tell about Goldtwerp, this guy is a blathering and unmitigated idiot............I think you'd need a sub-ALGORE IQ to even come close to understanding his 'humor'. So I'm sure that this so-called 'movie' is a reflection of his own shallow, vapid, and useless mind.
And, of course, since it's 'God' and 'Christians' and the 'USA' - it's fair game to tear'um down. Maybe ol' PoleCat outta go to some moooooooooooooooslem country, or North Korea, or Venezuela, and do a send-up on their culture............and he can take LardAss Moron with him, if the guy can get up the stairs to the plane and pour himself into his two side-by-side first-class seats.
Not all of us

“Why have a civilization if we are not longer interested in being civilized?” Not all of us are willing to become uncivilized. But we have things that are forced upon us that we have to react to in order to protect ourselves and our families. Ever watch Gangland on Spike channel? Talk about uncivilized. These urban gangs have degenerated to an animal state. It is truly the survival of the fittest with them. It is because of THEIR incivility that average Americans can no longer move about freely. The gangs have made it plain: "If you cross us, we'll kill you." Law enforcement and the courts cant do much. Even when they arrest these vermin there is not enough room in prisons to put them. These gangs and the lack of will to do anything about them has turned America in to one, big Dodge City. The problem is, we dont have a Marshal Dillon.
I can't wait to see this.

Falling Down, only funnier.
And I think you're taking the name too seriously. "God Bless America" is such a common term, and often used sarcasticly in response to something stupid that likely would only happen in America. There would be no difference if it was called "Only in America."
Of course there's a difference..

between it being called "Only In America", and "God Bless America". You're being disingenuous, because I don't believe you're stupid enough not to know the difference.
You're ignoring the subject

The killer is a Christian clergyman going berserk. The title is tied to the theme.
My guess is that there isn't much market for the film, and it goes straight to DVD.
The only religious reference
Submitted by RDD on Thu, 02/16/2012 - 5:08pm.
The only religious reference in the trailor I saw was a group that's suppose to represent the Westboro Baptist Church (a group that could use a good killing.)
Nothing I saw said the lead character was a clergyman or even religious at all.
Hell, his apparent primary targets are the same annoying "lack of morals" reality television stars this site complains about on a regular basis.
The bigger cultural problem
Submitted by redfish on Fri, 02/17/2012 - 11:40pm.
The bigger cultural problem is not the Westboro Baptist Church, its the media that's obsessed with them. ITS 40 PEOPLE. THE POPULATION OF THE UNITED STATES IS 310 MILLION PEOPLE.
That's my first reaction to the movie.
If the killer really wanted to target stupidity in the culture he'd off reporters who tell the average person what is important and not important, not some stupid idiots who nobody would notice if the camera wasn't on them.
But if the movie goes the other way and targets the WBC, its doing its part to contribute to the stupidity in our culture -- whining about things that don't matter, while diverting criticism away from the real idiots.
Dumb girls on reality shows are also not the problem, its the culture that creates the shows and encourages girls to act that way. The TV programmers who create that stuff want us to look at how dumb they are also. Think of Jerry Springer. Was the problem his show, or the guests on his show? What about Morton Downey Jr.? Our entire political news coverage is like one long, extended Morton Downey Jr. show.

How perfectly consistent is the reality-denial mind(I use that word loosely)set and violence-(and-other)projection of the Lib/Dem/Prog polemic.
What a rifled-barrel-of-laughs this must be.
No wonder their ranks keep psychiatrists' couches perpetually warmed and filled.
For them, a mind is a terrible waste....so why bother trying to use it? Just goooo with the (often barely-sublimated primal) feeeelings of the moment.

I wonder if this film will show Obama telling his supporters "If they bring a knife to the fight, you bring a gun." Will it show Wanda Sykes standing 5 feet from the President, accusing Rush of being the 20th hijacker and rooting for him to die an excruciating death from kidney falure? Will it show Obama being introduced at a rally by the country's top union thug, who says "We need to take these sons-of-bitches out", when referring to Republicans?
Will it show any late-term abortion providers or their Planned Parenthood sponsors and liberal political advocates being blown away, for killing unborn children capable of surviving outside the womb? Will it comment on Rahm sending political opponents dead fish? Will it show the clip of Ed Schultz saying "We oughtta rip Dick Cheney's heart out and kick it around", or calling Laura Ingraham a talk slut? Will it show Chris Matthews wishing for someone to murder Rush by stuffing a grenade into Rush's mouth? Will it quote Bill Ayers saying that ten to thirty million US citizens need to be murdered to complete their socialist revolution? Will Alec Baldwin be heard verbally assaulting his own young daughter? Will it show Dana Carvey as George HW Bush thinking of killing his son George W, to prevent him from becoming President? Or SNL's sketch of Mitt Romney shooting Rick Perry in the head during a debate?
Will it show Bill Maher, SNL skits, or any of countless other "comedians" mocking perfectly lovely Christians for their faith? Will it show Bill Press telling Tim Tebow to "shut the f*ck up?" Will it show Luke Russert, Jane Fonda, Sherrif Dupnik, and other Democrats falsely blaming Sarah Palin for the Gabby Giffords shooting? Will they show liberal cartoons depicting GW Bush as a monkey, or with a Hitler mustache wearing a Nazi uniform, or Naomi Wolf's hours-long video comparing the Bush administration to the Third Reich? Will they show the liberal cartoonist's depiction of Ronald Reagan being hit by a hail of bullets while "Hail To The Chief" is played? Will they show the liberal Florida congressman saying that Republicans should be dragged out into a field and shot? Or liberal talk fiend Mike Malloy spewing that Republicans should be beheaded? Or Keith Olbermann telling a sitting President to "Go to hell"? Or Rachel Maddow and Anderson Cooper and Bill Maher and other hard-left media liberals saying that Tea Partiers have testicles in their mouths?
I'm just wondering if any of these (and countless other) examples of "liberal civility" will be making their way into the film.

Good points, and of course we know they won't make it on film. That would result in a movie that would make money!
Your early mention of Sykes reminded me of a recent commercial. I can't recall the product, but I believe it's a woman's skin care lotion or something similar. There is a beautiful, young, black woman shown throughout the commercial. She never opens her mouth to say a word. The spot is narrated b none other than professional harpie, Wanda Sykes.
I personally find her voice to be less appealing than a hog truck crashing into a razor blade factory. But I fully understood using the hot chick to counteract her screeching. I look froward to seeing it again so I can laugh about it.

Why would an American filmmaker make a movie about a religion that accounts for approximately 1% of the American population? I'm missing why you've made the transition.
Natural Born Killers, anyone?

Looks like Hollywood is trying to remake Natural Born Killers. Good luck with that.
