Leno Mocks Opponents of Gay Marriage, CBS Highlights Quote
The idea that marriage is a sacred institution is apparently a joke to Jay Leno and CBS.
Leno declared that those who wish to defend the sanctity of marriage should "ban Kardashian weddings." CBS apparently thought that Leno's crack was too good to pass up, highlighting Leno's quote on at the start of its February 8 "CBS This Morning" show.
In his opening monologue on the February 7 "Tonight Show," Jay Leno expressed support for gay marriage: "A huge victory for gay rights. A federal appeals court today ruled that California cannot ban same sex marriage. Here's my feeling, let me tell you. If you want to respect the sanctity of marriage, ban Kardashian weddings. Ok, why don't you ban those? Those do more damage…"
The February 8 CBS "This Morning" show touted Jay Leno's joke mocking the sanctity of marriage in its "Eye Opener" segment, quoting this line: "If you want to respect the sanctity of marriage, ban Kardashian weddings."
CBS, which previously invited a guest on who attacked traditional marriage by declaring it a "morality cage," is now touting sophomoric jokes bashing supporters of traditional marriage for not respecting marriage.
Ironically, one of the homosexual couples who first pushed for homosexual marriage in California in 2008 is now filing for divorce.
CBS' use of Leno's quote wasn't the only way in which CBS signaled its support for same sex marriage. Leno was referencing a recent decision by the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, which declared Proposition 8, which banned same-sex marriage in California, "works a meaningful harm to gays and lesbians." CBS "Evening News'" coverage of the Proposition 8 ruling was skewed in favor of the court's decision, quoting 2 supporters of gay marriage and one opponent in a segment about the ruling.
By contrast, NBC and ABC gave comparatively balanced views on the ruling. NBC "Nightly News's" segment on the overturning of Prop 8 read from the ruling, and featured one supporter and one opponent of the ruling. ABC's "World News Tonight" did only a short, factual segment on the ruling.

Owe-bummer, Stillary, and Bitten (off more than he could chew) have demonstrated time and time ad-infinitum that they will speak out of both sides of their mouths -- whatever it takes -- to guarantee their political livelyhoods, and their respective agendas.
Don't take their positions on marriage too seriously. I doubt that even they believe it.

Although I find Leno to be more reasonably moderate than his counterparts, make no mistake that Leno is a Lie-beral, and his quip on SSM combined with his past statements qualifies him in my book as a major component in favour of the culture of death.

snip in part:
Same-Sex Relationships are not the Equivalent of Marriage
A growing body of research indicates that in key respects homosexual and lesbian relationships are radically different than married couples.
-- Relationship duration: While a high percentage of married couples remain married for up to 20 years or longer, with many remaining wedded for life, the vast majority of homosexual relationships are short-lived and transitory. This has nothing to do with alleged "societal oppression." A study in the Netherlands, a gay-tolerant nation that has legalized homosexual marriage, found the average duration of a homosexual relationship to be one and a half years.8
-- Monogamy versus promiscuity: Studies indicate that while three-quarters or more of married couples remain faithful to each other, homosexual couples typically engage in a shocking degree of promiscuity. The same Dutch study found that "committed" homosexual couples have an average of eight sexual partners (outside of the relationship) per year.9
-- Intimate partner violence: homosexual and lesbian couples experience by far the highest levels of intimate partner violence compared with married couples as well as cohabiting heterosexual couples.10 Lesbians, for example, suffer a much higher level of violence than do married women.11
What about the Children?
In his exhaustive examination of human history, Giovanni Battista Vico (1668-1744), Professor of Rhetoric at the University of Naples, concluded that marriage between a man and a woman is an essential characteristic of civilization, and as such is the "seedbed" of society. Vico warned that chaos would ensue in the absence of strong social norms encouraging marital faithfulness and the loving care of children born to the union.
Since reproduction requires a male and a female, society will always depend upon heterosexual marriage to provide the "seedbed" of future generations. The evidence indicates that homosexual or lesbian households are not a suitable environment for children.
Data from the 2000 U.S. Census and other sources indicates that only a small percentage of homosexual households choose to raise children.12 One reason for this is that the raising of children is inimical to the typical homosexual lifestyle, which as we have seen typically involves a revolving bedroom door. With the added problem of high rates of intimate partner violence, such households constitute a dangerous and unstable environment for children.
Homosexuals and lesbians are unsuitable role models for children because of their lifestyle. Dr. Brad Hayton observes that homosexual households "model a poor view of marriage to children. They are taught by example and belief that marital relationships are transitory and mostly sexual in nature. ... And they are taught that monogamy in a marriage is not the norm [and] should be discouraged if one wants a good 'marital' relationship."13

Especially in the under 30 category where it's runs at about 70% in favor. 7 states now have same sex marriage, Canada, most of Europe and it is projected that 4 more states will approve this year. Important is that NY and the northeast and west coast with high population densities will put about 40% of Americans in gay marraige states by 2013.

No good arguement against it once you close your eyes and say what ever floats your own boat, and not consider reality and society's (and ultimately the individual's) best interest.

A Man and His Horse
In what some call a denial of a basic civil right, a Missouri man has been told he may not marry his long-term companion. Although his situation is unique, the logic of his argument is remarkably similar to that employed by advocates of homosexual marriage.
The man claims that the essential elements of marriage--love and commitment--are indeed present:"She's gorgeous. She's sweet. She's loving. I'm very proud of her. ... Deep down, way down, I'd love to have children with her."1
Why is the state of Missouri, as well as the federal government, displaying such heartlessness in denying the holy bonds of wedlock to this man and his would-be "wife"?
It seems the state of Missouri is not prepared to indulge a man who waxes eloquent about his love for a 22-year-old mare named Pixel.
The Threat to Marriage
The Missouri man and homosexual "marriage" proponents categorically reject the definition of marriage as the union of a man and a woman. Instead, the sole criterion for marriage becomes the presence of "love" and "mutual commitment." But once marriage is no longer confined to a man and a woman, it is impossible to exclude virtually any relationship between two or more partners of either sex--even non-human "partners."
To those who object to comparing gay marriage to widely-rejected sexual preferences, it should be pointed out that until very recent times the very suggestion that two men or two women could "marry" was itself greeted with scorn.
Of course, media stories on same-sex marriage rarely address the fact that redefining marriage logically leads to the Missouri man and his mare. Instead, media reports typically focus instead on homosexual couples who resemble the stereotypical ideal of a married couple. Ignored in such reports is social science research indicating that such idealized "families" are utterly atypical among homosexuals.
In this pamphlet we will show the following:
1. Gay marriage threatens the institutions of marriage and the family.
2. Same-sex relationships are not the equivalent of traditional marriage
3. Gay marriage is not a civil rights issue
4. Americans overwhelmingly reject gay marriage
5. Gay marriage is not a moral alternative to traditional marriage.
6. Homosexuality is rightly viewed as unnatural.

Steve, I think Leno is a horrible comedian, his show is boring, and he stinks at interviewing. However, you asked, "Why should he be allowed to speak on subjects having to do with marriage?"
I think he can speak about marriage because he's been married to the same woman for over 30 years. I'd say that's pretty impressive this day in age where 50% of all marriages end in divorce. He clearly has some credibility on the subject.

PH, don't bother getting back on the horse, you just fell on your a$$ with that statement.
It doesn't MATTER one bit how long anyone's been married to anyone, just because one couple's been married for a long time doesn't mean whatever worked for them will work for others. No two couples are the same, ever.
Sure, some things might work for one couple to advise another and another couple could advise the first couple, but for to say one couple has got all the answers is just plain asking for trouble.

- government interfering in the church
- evolution
Is God not around? Is God just not concerned with millions of innocent children beign murdered each year?
