There is a charge floating around out there that President Barack Obama knew in advance about the radical background of Van Jones before appointing him as his "green jobs czar." So where is this charge coming from? Glenn Beck? Nope. Fox News? Nope. This revelatory charge was made on the pages of the liberal San Francisco Chronicle in an article on the Jones resignation written by Joe Garofoli:
The middle-of-the-night resignation Sunday of longtime Bay Area activist Van Jones as a White House environmental adviser left many progressives angry at the Obama administration for buckling to conservative criticism of Jones' controversial past comments and actions.
...Supporters say the administration surely knew his background when they appointed Jones, the first African American to write a best-selling environmental book, as special adviser for green jobs at the White House Council on Environmental Quality. In fact, agents interviewed at least one of his former supervisors in San Francisco - Eva Paterson - when the FBI vetted his appointment.
Although Garofoli made it seem like Van Jones was the victim of a "witch hunt," he sure did Jones no favors with this quote from a well-known loon:
"He was swift-boated," said Medea Benjamin, a co-founder of the anti-war group Code Pink and a San Franciscan who has known Jones for 15 years. She spoke to him recently and said he was "very conflicted" about whether to resign.
One highly interesting aspect of this article are the accompanying comments posted in the Chronicle. Although this is a very liberal newspaper, these comments by the readers reveal a very "unprogressive" attitude about Van Jones and Obama:
He was a total racist. It wasn't just signing the 9/11 petition. The article neglects to mention that he recently said that White people were responsible for polluting and people of color were suffering for it. It also neglects to mention he was an avowed Communist, radical, and anarchist.
And yet another person Obama has to suddenly 'distance' himself from. He knew exactly who this guy was and hired him anyway -- what does that tell you about Obama's true colors?
Hey Joe: This is no witch-hunt, the guy said some dumb-a$$ things and now calls it a smear campaign?? He signs a petition, but tries later to divorce himself from what the petition calls for?? Why do YOU and all these other apologists come running to his defense when he can't or won't MAN-UP?
Van is not a progressive, he said himself he is a communist who also stated he believes GW Bush and the CIA caused 9/11. Then he was appointed as Green Jobs Czar by President Obama. The press totally ignored that a radical communist was advising the President. Even the Republicans didn't say a thing.
And if you think the above comments from "cranky conservatives" were on the harsh side, they are nothing compared to the rage directed towards Obama over the Van Jones resignation coming from the leftwing blogosphere. Check out these volleys being fired by the sanity-challenged Democratic Underground:
Obama is being the biggest wuss..he should have told the right wing...we won the election eat s--t and die!!!!
this administration is as weak as water, i can't listen to them anymore, they are so full of it.
Under the bus he goes.
Don't look now But the President of the United States just got pwned by a microphone jockey. I thought I would never see someone top Bush the First, but this may just be the weakest President in my lifetime.
And finally this highly revealing post from the Democratic Underground:
While I agree in private with Van Jones' sentiments, I don't make these opinions generally public.
The above comment was very interesting for its honesty. Much of the left actually agrees with the very radical views of Van Jones including being a 9/11 Truther and declaring an adherence to communism. However, his "mistake" was making his views known to the public.
And if you think the leftwing disgust with Obama is limited just to the Democratic Underground, think again. The Daily Kos is equally enraged by The One:
Definitely the most cowardly administration most of my generation (twentysomethings) have seen so far.
Democrats in Washington are falling apart. Can't anyone stop the stupid?
A gutless administration. No one in this White-house has what it takes. I truly feel its downhill from here on.
Obama tends to throw people under the bus
If you want even more Labor Day entertainment provided by leftwing angst over the Van Jones resignation, then pop up a bowl of popcorn, dip them in salsa (a newly discovered combo treat), and check a more complete collection of DUer and Kossack rage compiled by the DUmmie FUnnies.

The thing is that Barack
September 7, 2009 - 11:02 ET by LiberalliesThe thing is that Barack Hussein Obama is as radical as Van Jones. They are not left wingers, they are radicals.
Obama has hurt himself in a manner which I have never seen a President be hurt.
All of my idiotic Republican friends that voted for Obama are in complete shock to who Obama really is. Pathetic that it took 8 months for them to see it.
Most of my Democrat/Liberal friends that voted for Obama are also in shock as to who he is.
For whatever reason these two group of people honestly thought the rhetoric that Obama spewed was real and true. Now they realize how royaly screwed we are.
Glenn Beck is great.
September 7, 2009 - 10:59 ET by sevenNo smears. He just shared how van Jones smeared himself and the white people that were the target of his hate.
Van Jones is anti science. He claimed white people pumped poison into the black neighborhoood. Did he ever monitor poison? No?

September 7, 2009 - 11:00 ET by MassConservativeSo Obama either:
1. Knew how radical this guy was and appointed him anyway.
RNC commercial #1 - How far from the mainstream is Obama?
2. Knew nothing about this guys background when he appointed him.
RNC commercial #2 - How can we trust this guy as a leader with a vetting process like this?

Of course he knew about him!

Valerie Jarrett said they'd been watching him for a long time and were "delighted to recruit him!"
Is Obama now going to say he doesn't know or has no control over what his staff does, even a Senior Advisor and Assistant?
I wonder if Valerie also
September 7, 2009 - 12:36 ET by dscottI wonder if Valerie also signed the 911 truther petition? Anyway to check? Obviously being a self proclaimed communist isn't enough to shame Obama into asking for their resignation. We need to do the country a favor since the Republican Party isn't up to the job, out all the rest of the truthers on Obama's payroll.

Knew about it? Hell
September 7, 2009 - 11:01 ET by ConservativeRexKnew about it? Hell they groomed him for this position! They had been "watching him since he was in Oakland". Their words not mine. These people are radicals, they are not your run of the mill dumb ass liberals, they are Marxist to the core. And they duped some simple people into backing them and voting for them due to hatred, and only hatred.
You are right! but unfortunately
September 7, 2009 - 11:31 ET by doug1950it did not take much of an effort to dupe all those people, Repubs, Dems, and moderates. They were more than willing to be duped. Even an ignoramus should have gotten a gut check when this guy rolled up out of nowhere, enough of his background and history was available to give even the most ardent supporter cause to pause on putting this man in the WH. It didn't, because they wanted "to believe" and cast their votes based on "emotion" rather than logic, common sense and the evidence in front of their faces. America was and still is ripe for the plucking. I personally know some Repubs right now, this very minute who are still every bit in his corner. Many because the GOP did such a piss poor job, GWB didn't act or was not conservative enough so they are trying to "punish" the Republican Party. That is dicounting completely the Blueblood Repubs who think they don't make any noise when they go to the bathroom and are really above all this. (i.e. Peggy Noonan and her country club friends).
Incidently, the Repub Party DOES need to be cleaned out of RiNos and go back to the platform of Reagan and stop being Democrat lite.

September 7, 2009 - 11:06 ET by G. MayNo one eats their own better than the left. No party is more loosely united and harder to hold together than the Democratic party. Too many personal crusades, too many agendas, too many differening ideas of what "progess" is.
I believe we may be witnessing the unravelling of all those extremely loose coalitions. They can barely keep things together even though they have a complicit media.
Keep chumming the water, these radical lunatics will take care of themselves.
Obama is Van Jones
September 7, 2009 - 11:17 ET by flyingmonkeyA Rick Moran blog at American Thinker yesterday hit the nail right on the head. Obama saw absolutely nothing wrong with Van Jones' opinions or actions because he agrees with him whole-heartedly.
This is why he was able to sit in Jeremiah Wright's church for twenty years and not be shocked by what he was hearing.
You indeed can judge a person by the company he keeps.

The radical left's karmic event
September 7, 2009 - 11:18 ET by OxyConThe radical left chose one of their own, and because the stars and heavens aligned, they were able to place their far left radical in the White House.
Now, Americans are starting to see who Obama really is as his mask continuosly slips with the revelations that many of his close associates openly hate America and Whites in particular.
So how does the radical left react to the fact that many Americans are beginning to find their presidential choice to be too radical? By ripping their chosen one apart for not being radical enough.

The Chron vs SanFran
September 7, 2009 - 11:23 ET by 4 Borders PunditSure, the Chron appeals to a liberal market -- that's good for business, which itself makes the paper less liberal than some would like, if they thought about it.
It should be noted that SanFran is far less liberal than the Chron or Code Pink or Olbermann, or as starry-eyed, would-be-immigrant gazers from afar would like it to be.
The City's blue-collar roots are ignored by cheese-sniffing, upper-middle class hypocrites who cry out for single-payer equality for all from their $750k Bay Window-sporting shacks or $1.5m Victorians.
The number of residents who can afford to espouse liberal ideals while shopping at the Ferry Market drops every month.
SF is a gritty city, and always was. It is, and was, a hard-nosed town that liked hard liquor, hard people and hard work. It was, nearly, kidnapped by Summer of Love miscreants and gay-friendly gussies.
Nothing wrong with gay-friendly, but gay-friendly usually means being gay-friendly by looking out a Bay Window and applauding all the rainbow flags flying gleefully (though not from your place).
Modern SanFran is a monolith built to celebrate hypocrisy. The rest of the City just tries to get on with its people surviving.

The Obama fish rots from
September 7, 2009 - 12:12 ET by eaglewingz08The Obama fish rots from the a-hole up. Valerie Jarett gave Van Jones a massive thumbs up on August 12, 2009. That was even after Glenn Beck had been excoriating that self avowed anti white anti capitalist communist, Van Jones for more than one month. Incredible. The media is trying to tie this to an 'incompetency' 'naive' theme about the Obama Administration, whereas anyone with half a brain knows that Obama and his Administration believe almost everything spewed by Van Jones (see Valerie Jarett video). The mask has been removed by our right-eous blogosphere and by the intrepids of Glenn Beck and Fox News on the tv.
It is wonderful that liberals are saying this is a 'smear campaign'. It merely reminds people of Pres. Reagan's aphorism (paraphrased), Republicans merely quote the truth about what liberals say and the liberals call that slander/smears.
We need to know who overruled the FBI and Secret Service on allowing Van Jones and other commies to serve in the WH and why those FBI and Secret Service officials haven't resigned for violating their oaths to protect USA from enemies foreign and domestic.
Ya know....
September 7, 2009 - 21:20 ET by gailannrDoesn't it scare the crap out of you when you wonder and question whether the FBI and Secret Service are on top of all of this? But I get the impression that someone in the WH knows these people--and what they are about and maybe even agrees with them.
Knew? Of course Obama KNEW....
September 7, 2009 - 12:16 ET by SlyrrThat's not news, really. Obama is a corrupt radical himself. He's spent his entire life dandling at the knees of other corrupt radicals. He's been groomed and raised to be the next generation of corrupt radicals.
So of course he knew who this corrupt radical was when he appointed him. It was probably agreed on during the campaign, along with him farming out the IRS to tax cheats, and lining up all his other corrupt radical friends to fill the offices of his new corrupt 'czardom'.
If Obama wants a czardom, he should go to Russia and set up his own czardom there. Since every foreigner 'loves' him so much, I'm sure they'd be delighted to take him and let him set up 'Obamaland', with Rev. Wright as his minister of religious inquisition....

September 7, 2009 - 13:06 ET by BKeyserThis, from the drooling Obamabot Liz Sodoti:
"They seethe about the expansion of government. But they also shrug that
the country got what it elected — a Democrat whose Senate voting record
tilted to the left."
And that pretty much sums up the problem. Below, I have painstakingly reproduced President Obama's complete resume from the time he began community organizing:
__________________________________________________Prez
That's why the AP's Sodoti identifies Barry's voting record as "tilted to the left" rather than "resoundingly Progressive." Barry knew Van- they share ideology and vision for America's future- a country dominated by socially and economically repressed minorities whose sum vastly outnumbers the majority. Oh, and they vote Democrat.

A friend of his, potentiallly an invitee, was expeditiously refused because of a former arrrest. Ol' Jonesy already has two under his belt! Not to mention unashamed Communist admissions...
This twit would barely be trusted to clean out the White House public access toilets under armed supervision, let alone be allowed unfettered access to the President.
As Mr. Lord writes, it would take someone at least at the level of the President's inner circle (or the Prez himself) to overrule the Secret Service and permit an "ordinary" person with Jones' backround entry to the White House.
No wonder "czars" are so popular -- they can do an end-run around Congressional (read "the people's") oversight.
