Michael Moore Asks Daily Kos for Help on Next Film

  • Bookmark and Share

Michael Moore is in the middle of shooting a movie about Wall Street and the financial industry. So who is he now turning to for help? The Daily Kos. I kid you not. Yesterday Moore posted a thread on the Daily Kos titled, "Will You Help Me With My Next Film? ...a request from Michael Moore." Here is the text of his request asking for Kossack "expertise" about high finance:

Friends,

I am in the middle of shooting my next movie and I am looking for a few brave people who work on Wall Street or in the financial industry to come forward and share with me what they know. Based on those who have already contacted me, I believe there are a number of you who know "the real deal" about the abuses that have been happening. You have information that the American people need to hear. I am humbly asking you for a moment of courage, to be a hero and help me expose the biggest swindle in American history.

All correspondence with me will be kept confidential. Your identity will be protected and you will decide to what extent you wish to participate in telling the greatest crime story ever told.

Story Continues Below Ad ↓

The important thing here is for you to step up as an American and do your duty of shedding some light on this financial collapse. A few good people have already come forward, which leads me to believe there are many more of you out there who know what's going on. Here's your chance to let your fellow citizens in on the truth.

If you have any info that would help, please contact me at my private email address: bailout@michaelmoore.com.

An email address that is so "private" that Moore posts it out in the open on the Web.

For the rest of you on my email list who don't work in the financial industry, you're probably wondering, "What the heck is this all about? I thought he said he was making a romantic comedy!"

Well, I just can't say much right now. I'm sure you can understand why. One thing I can tell you is that you're gonna like this movie when I'm done with it. Oh, yeah...

So, again, if you work for a bank, a brokerage firm or an insurance company -- or if you have seen things or heard things that you believe the American people have a right to know -- please contact me at bailout@michaelmoore.com.

Thank you in advance for your help!

Yours,
Michael Moore

And the "help" offered by the Kossacks who responded on that thread ranged from completely useless to highly laughable. How laughable? How about by suggesting that Moore interview the disgraced Democrat former governor of New York, Eliot Spitzer, for the movie? Stand by for laughs as you read these suggestions from the Daily Kos:

Actually, I think Spitzer could come out from behind his 'shame' and do some good here.

He did what a lot of people do, what David Vitter did, only he, like Siegelman, was on the wrong side of the aisle, and was brought down.

Spitzer could easily talk to US Attorneys, and spill, and it would go a long way, IMO, to wipe the slate clean, even if it probably couldn't rehabilitate him politically.

Yeah, testimony from Love Client #9 would work wonders for spurring interest in a Michael  Moore film.  And now we hear from the Don Siegelman (another disgraced former governor) contigent of the Daiy Kos:

Of course Spitzer was sleeping with hookers, whereas Siegelman was the victim of a Republican witch-hunt.

They just can't let go of that Siegelman as a "witch-hunt" victim conspiracy theory even though it has been discredited.  Of course, this also caused speculation that poor widdle Eliot was also a victim of a nefarious conspiracy:

Spitzer's problem wasn't hypocrisy...it was that he went after WALLSTREET and was going to continue to go after wallstreet as gov so he HAD to be 'taken out' and the easiest way to make sure no one complained (to much) was to take him out by making a federal case out of a private sexual matter (sound familiar) (mumbles monica)...

For all anyone knows this was a total set up and spitzer was to stupid to see it coming.   little head vs BIG HEAD syndrome brings people like spitzer down all the time but if you want to point the finger of hypocrisy at someone in the spitzer mess, point it at ALL the people who clucked their tongues and wagged their fingers and demanded Spitzer resign for doing what most of THEM were also doing.... CHEATING.

Spitzers real crime was going after wallstreet but no one was going to demand he resign as NY's gov for that.

My favorite quote was this gem:

Talk to Eliot Spitzer he must have stories.

I'm sure he does but I'm not sure his wife would want to hear them.

I'm surprised that no one at the Daily Kos suggested that Michael Moore interview another former Democrat politician for his film. This former presidential candidate worked for a Wall Street hedge fund so he could "learn about poverty." I am of course referring to John Edwards. And since Moore has claimed that this movie will also be a romantic comedy, both Spitzer and Edwards would be perfect for this film. It isn't even out in the theaters yet and I am already laughing.

I would like to meet Michael Moore

.. in person. Really, I would.

Why doesn't he just ask

Why doesn't he just ask Barney Frank and Chris Dodd...they would have more answers than anybody on the Kos?

Oh yeah...they are (D)s.

Being one who works on Wall

Being one who works on Wall Street, it would be very hard for me to resist planting my foot on his keister if I saw him.

I blame the Dems for the majority of our financial troubles.

ScoobaDude

Well with that attitude, I seriously doubt he will even WANT you in his movie.  :-(

Moore

Actually I think Moore would want that.  He probably wants to paint Wall Street as misbehaving, rule breaking frat boys, much like they tried to paint Bush.

As usual, this movie will be long on Moore's tunnel vision and short on truth.

Scoob,

LOL-I'd be careful if I were you. You might not get that foot back.

Confidentiality

I work in the financial industry. I hope that people who listen to Michael Moore aren't as dumb as he is.  People that work in the financial industry are required to sign reams of paper before starting work, and usually one of those papers is a confidentiality form.  People need to be careful.  I doubt Michael Moore will pay people's legal fees to fight off confidentiality claims.

"Moore facts....."

"Moore facts" do not equal truth.

I was going to post

but decided that this steaming pile of monkey sh*t wasn't worth it

 Is there a sleazier guy

Is there a sleazier guy on this planet than Michael Moore.  Before long, he'll just be paying people to say whatever he wants them to in front of the camera, assuming that hasn't happened already.

"The race is not always to the swift nor the battle to the strong, but that's the way to bet."

Maybe he could do one on the Unions?

He's had the chance to do so

He's had the chance to do so every time he mentions the auto industries, but seems to shy away from mentioning the unions while attacking the companies that provide jobs rather than trying to regulate them.

I am pretty sure this hotdog-inhaling blubber-butt

I am pretty sure this hotdog-inhaling blubber-butt with a video camera is going to be suggesting in his little propaganda film that Wall Street is the cause of all this.

If he really wanted to get to the bottom of it all, and talk directly to the person most responsible, he would be camping out in front of Bawney Fwank's domicile.

But then, he couldn't blame this all on eeeeeeeeeeevil capitalists, could he?

Our clueless political leaders are about to drive us all over a cliff. The time to HITM is now-before we go over.

the reason moore's films are so bogus

is that they are not documentaries, representing only the side of the issue that is convenient to his cause:  republicans are all rich and evil and democrats are the working class everyman.  if his arguments had any merit he would make his case and defend it in an open forum, but since he knows that's an argument he'll lose he just makes a movie.

swing hard in case you hit it.

Swindle???

Mikey, Mikey, Mikey.

Why fool around with this penny-ante Wall Street thing.

Be bold Mikey. See if you can get Al Gore by the short hairs. He is pulling off the biggest swindle in the history of mankind and someday you'll regret not being the tud-ball who blew the whole thing wide open.

If that seems too daunting a task, another contender for rip-off of the millenium is happening right now in our Congress. Go get 'em boy.

Seigleman a witch hunt? That is still being

discussed? That man was hated so badly, it is a wonder he wasn't torched like a witch. By the constituents. And rumors of his affairs swirled around B'ham for years.  I think it makes sense for MM to go to the Kossacks. They are, after all, his viewing audience, and if they think they had a hand in forming the movie, then they are more likely to attend, and spread the word. I am still trying to figure out the comedy/love story/ undercover documentary premise for the film, but I guess I just don't have MM's "vision."

All a Democrat needs is the upper-story window of public attention and the chamber pot of rhetoric. How else to explain the rise of Joe Biden?  P.J. O' Rourke

"...help me expose the biggest swindle in American history..."

I'm confused. He said "the biggest swindle in history." Is the movie going to be about the 2008 presidential election or the current stimulus bill?

Obama: 'I screwed up'--We're going to be seeing this a lot.

My bad..

I thought you were talking about the BS Obama is currently spewing on TV.

This does violence to my monitor

Good Lord what a sight! He is starting to look like Fat Bastard from the Austin Powers film series.

Team America: World Police

Michael Moore did a fine job in his role on that film.

Go watch American Carol

If you want to watch a movie that puts MM in his place - Awesome flick, as I said before - IT ROCKS!

Keep your fingers away from his mouth

Hmmm, let me guess. chubbsy-ubbsy will take an hour and forty minutes telling us how GWB is responsible for the whole mess and that Obama and the Dems are already starting to head us out of the abyss.  He should really get The Huffington Post's input on this as well.  And of course Rachel Olbermatthews, Bill Maher, Joy Behar, Rosie, Matt Damon, etc...

I predict 2 oscars, a grammy, an emmy, and of course a tony for the broadway production to follow.

An then the documentaries on how GWB was responsible for the blowing up the levees, supplying steroids to A-roid while he was on the Rangers, fathering the octuplets, sun spots...

Soap is your friend.

I think we should all chip in and send Mr. Moore one of these and one of these.  Apparently he's not gaining a big enough audience with his movies to buy these things himself.

Liberalspeak translation...

Ok let's translate what Mr Moore has said here...

Quote: "I am in the middle of shooting my next movie and I am looking for a few brave people who work on Wall Street or in the financial industry to come forward and share with me what they know...I believe there are a number of you who know "the real deal" about the abuses that have been happening."

(translation): I'm working on a new movie that will advertize how much America sucks, specifically -this time- the Free Market. Since I don't really know anything about the American financial sector (other than it sucks), I turn to you; my liberal, socialism-loving, entitlement mentality, rich, eliteists friends to inform on your various companies, and dump every bit of poison that you have on camera for me. (Please don't expect to recieve any compensation for helping me with my movie because, as you know, seeking profit is capitalism, and capitalism sucks. **Except when it pertains to MY movies, then it's ok.**)

Quote: "I am humbly asking you for a moment of courage, to be a hero and help me expose the biggest swindle in American history.

All correspondence with me will be kept confidential. Your identity will be protected and you will decide to what extent you wish to participate in telling the greatest crime story ever told.

The important thing here is for you to step up as an American and do your duty of shedding some light on this financial collapse."

(Translation): Look, if you don't help me trash on the US Financial System you should feel guilty for trying to call yourself a "Liberal" or a "Democrat". That's why I'm trying to call you out in front of all your E-buddies here on The Daily KOS.

It is YOUR DUTY as a Liberal/Socialist to spill your guts, and tell me what I want to hear so I can record it on camera. Besides, let's get real here, I'm gonna blame the whole thing on G.W.Bush: so that should be your incentive, right??!

Understand that once I record your statements, I will probably edit the tape and take you out of context in an effort to make my point stronger. I don't really care about FACTS per se'. What I want is to make an "Appeal to Authority" -That's you- and have you say what I want to hear. If you don't, no worries... I have a great editing staff, and we could do a voice over if we have to.

Doc's Comment: Well, I think that about sums it up. what do you think?

Doc

2008: The year that the great LIE died.

How we know that they know that they are Lying.

Friedrich Nietzsche summed up how I feel about the MSM in this quote:

"I'm not upset that you lied to me, I'm upset that from now on I can't believe you."

I still say Roger and Me was

I still say Roger and Me was an excellent doc.

Fugging Fugly

Sorry [not really] but, man oh man is this cretin UGLY. -But some people that are that ugly make anything they say hard to hear because trying to look past UGLY is hard to do. That's why RUSH is successful...he stuck to radio because his face/persona are NOT conducive to keeping down one's lunch.

This ugly slob needs to STFU and watch "Supersize me"...now THAT was a documentary worthy of watching and obviously fatty didn't even give it a rent. Pfft!

Though I'm a conservative,

Though I'm a conservative, a Republican and believe in Capitalism, I despise the swindlers and the CEOs who legally embezzle their own companies.  I imagine others feel the same way.  Crookedness is not good business, it's not moral and it's not in America's best interest.  Capitalism is supposed to benefit all...now, if the damn government would just get the hell out of the way and let Capitalism work for a change...

However, I have yet to see any evidence that stock market traders are in anyway responsible for this mess.  They merely react.

He should be investigating the CRE, Fannie/Freddie, Frank, Dodd, etc. garbage.  But, of course, the Socialist ideals are obviously something he believes in...whether they work or not.

Let me guess what this will look like.  He'll kind of walk around like he's on a journey of discovery, not really sure what he'll find out, with his crappy baseball hat, just kind of lumbering and see what's around the next corner.  He'll get some people on there to say things that you wouldn't expect them to say-shocking in other words-then there'll be some cartoons, maybe some dopey music playing with various rich guys and Republicans being shown...you know...the comedy relief part...

*yaaaaaaawn*

One of the 24% who thinks George W. Bush was a great President. One of the 89% who wants to bring back the stock and pillory.

Does

anyone care that something thought "Roger and Me" was an "excellent doc"?

It doesn't surprise me that

It doesn't surprise me that he would ask those Kos kooks. But he would have done slightly better had he asked the residents of any mental hospital.

rbo... You've got me

rbo...

You've got me laughing out loud here with your post...

Hey, I agree with the sentiments, only problems he'd have is the play money they would fund it with...unfortunately, even Moore isn't that dumb...being the shhh...don't tell anybody...capitalist that he is.
