Leftwing Blogosphere Cheers Iraqi Shoe Thrower

  • Bookmark and Share

The shoes had hardly left the hand of the Iraqi who tossed them at President Bush during the Baghdad press conference yesterday when the leftwing blogosphere began cheering him as some sort of hero. The incredible success of the Surge in Iraq has been very frustrating for the left. Along with Joe Biden they claimed that the Surge could never work. Problem was that it worked. That is why they have been so silent recently on the topic of the Iraq. The complete turnaround there has been much too embarrassing for them to mention Iraq very much...until now. The shoes tossed by that Iraqi journalist let loose a river of pent up frustration in the form of hailing the shoe tosser. Here is a sampling of the the reaction from the Daily Kos:

Is the Iraqi reporter eligible for a Pulitzer?
What will happen to this reporter? Do we need to send money for his representation in court or is he dead already?  My concern is for this guy.  I understand that Dana Perino got a black eye from a microfone in the melee.  I'm sorry but retribution is sweet!  If we could help this shoeless person I would.
We can throw 9000+ combat boots at him as he waddles to Marine 1 for the last time.
Michael Ware Was Grinning From Ear to Ear! Iraq journalist Michael Ware was shown on CNN telling Blitzer about the shoe throwing incident.  He was positively gleeful.
And it wouldn't surprise me if quite a few other American journalists, whether based in Iraq or not, were also grinning from ear to ear in solidarity with the Kossacks over this incident. Meanwhile the Huffington Post comments were very similar to those of the Daily Kos:
All I can hope for is that bubble boy takes a real good look at what he has wrought. He should rot.
Find out who it was the guy deserves a medal of honor.
you go iraqi guy! wooohooo! we should all be chuckin our shoes at him! lmao!!!! the shoebomber! lmao!!!
I would love to throw something at Bush.. not a shoe though.. maybe a brick.. or cinder block.
Give that man who threw his shoes at the shrub an award...or better yet a statue built in his own likeness.
Shall we say thank you Al-Jazeera?
The next time you see Bush's motorcade rush by, don't let anyone keep you from giving him your shoe, too...
does anybody know the name and address of the man who threw the shoe? I'd like to buy him a new pair and throwing lessons.
And finally, last but least, we have the input from the loons at the Democratic Underground:
F---ing shame he missed.
Too bad Shrub didn't get his teeth knocked out, that guys a true hero!
*sigh* why can't anyone ever hit their targets? is it asking too much too see Bush hit in the face with a shoe, or Coulter with a pie, or Rove with flaming poo?
I soooooo wish I could throw something at the idiot too.

TODAY Show/NBC

PawpawN-This morning on NBC TODAY Show the shoe throwing was lead story.  In 10 minutes they showed video of the incident 17 times.  15 times of both shoes being thrown and 2 times of only 1 shoe.  Story itself was biased and had 4 different people to discuss besides the 2 hosts.  What would have been said or shown if it happened to the President-Elect?

And these are the same

And these are the same people who claim their new patriotism for America. What a joke.

"Forget change, I want improvement!"

Leave it to the folks at Kos

Leave it to the folks at Kos and DU to denigrate the office of the President.  As much as I disliked Clinton and what he did to defile the White House while in office, I wouldn't have wished him to be the victim of some violent act.  Those guys are unpatriotic fools.

of course the morons at Kos

think there is nothing wrong with this. They've watched the "media" here throw proverbial shoes at conservatives for years and it seems there is no reason to even have any pretense since Lord Obama's election.

actually said to my honey bunny by an AA friend of ours in deadly seriousness. "I'm gonna get a new car because Obama was elected"

Not buy a new car.."we're gonna get ours" He was not kidding.

Some one is going to be

Some one is going to be greatly dissapointed when they are handed the keys to a brand new car.

He's only gonna get...

The price of a series of car maker bailouts. Pretty sure that is NOT what he expected.

Seriously, This guy was dead serious and there have been numerous examples on youtube and anecdotally on the net. It is delusional.

Obama, worst president in history

Hello leftys, glad you had some fun for the last 8 years with the denegration of the President and all. Now it's us Neo-Cons turn. So when do we get to start throwing the 'n' word at your President, the soon to be (self described) Mutt In Chief? After all, 'tit for tat', 'all's fair. . .' and some such. Let us know, we need a date.

On a serious note,

The Secret Service has egg on it's face today. The fact that the reporter actually was able to launch his shoes is a disgrace.

Seriously, what if that reporter had been a student of one of these people, and had been armed with this. I know that may seem a little far fetched, but that's what the Secret Service is paid to be prepared for. I am really surprised it took them as long as it did to respond.

On the other hand, how cool was ol' W? "All I can report is it was a size 10.", just like that "Wall Street got drunk" soundbite a while back, W. reminded everyone how damn funny and likable he can be.

If you make people think they're thinking, they'll love youBut if you really make them think, they'll hate you.

I don't think the Secret

I don't think the Secret Service has egg on their face. All the guy had to throw were his shoes. I've never been to a presidential press conference, but I hear everyone passes through a pretty stringent security checkpoint. Also, it's not like there are Secret Service people covering every single person in the room. Pretty much anyone can subtley remove their shoes in a setting like that without causing any alarm...at least until today that is.

What's even funnier is that Bush used his cat-like skill and reflexes to dodge a shoe, not only once, but twice! And then wryly joked about it!

Too bad for that journalist...he will never be allowed in a presidential press conference again...I hope he accomplished what he was hoping to because making a scene like that and not achieving your goal is pretty sad.

Not Invincible--Just Capable

I'm not expecting invincibility, just competence. Remember this is Iraq, any place the president appears in Iraq should be assumed to be a high-threat environment. It was an extremely small room.

The Secret Service does not have egg on their face--they have an entire omlet!

So how many of these posts

So how many of these posts were by Keith Olbermann???

Re: So how many of these posts

Tater, I do believe Mr. Olbermann was too busy to do much posting today, as he was attempting to get the shoe-throwing idiot a job at MSNBC alongside Olby's protege Rachel Maddow.  As someone said, Shoe-man would be a perfect (Size 10) fit for them.

(Oh, wait, I said it this morning, but I couldn't help plagiarizing myself.  :)   And I'm sure I'm not the only one who made a comment like that today on hearing about Shoe-boy.)

Question

What I don't understand is how did the Secret Service allow this joker to throw not one shoe, but TWO!!?? My goodness, what if they were bombs instead of shoes?

You would think that someone would have body-slammed the guy before he let one shoe fly. If defensive ends can get past a 350lb blocker and take out a quarterback in 1.5 seconds, why couldn't the secret service do the same. Were they paying attention?

My respect for the Secret Service has taken a huge hit.

Why do so many people think

Why do so many people think the Secret Service is a group of invincible guys that are prescient

You gotta remember the setting...a bunch of reporters that tend to abhor violence in all of its forms. The threat level was pretty low...but after today I wouldn't be surprised if shoes were no longer allowed in the press conferences.

Kirk, I agree. The SS blew it badly.

I believe the SS failed our president, and those who were present should be fired immediately.

That whole episode could have ended very differently.

Will work for beer.

I would get a chuckle

... if some foreign reporter tossed a shoe at Barack Obama.  But then I'd still be making fun of the reporter, as well.

So much for hope and change....

These guys are so nice aren't they?  You should see The Washington Post  comments section about this: "too bad it wasn't a hand grenade...", "too bad he missed...", etc.  If that's their idea of loving their country and compassion, I want no part of it.

I can't wait for The Chosen One to assume the "reigns of power" and start screwing up royally and we can bash the stuffing out of him.  It will be such fun.

On the Same Side

Of course the left-wing blogosphere cheered the show thrower. They have supported his ideological bretheren the entire war, even when they were killing innocent women and children by the thousands. They even surrendered to his type, led by Harry Reid. At the end of the day, they are on the same side.

You also left out . .

Johnny "The Wap" Amato's sycophants over at "Crooks and Liars".

 Just a small sample.

I have one word:

AWESOME

Sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. That was PRICELESS.

Media Ignoring This

1. ALL of the other journalists kept apologizing.

2. The only reason this journalist had the chance to throw that shoe was because Bush freed the country and they established freedom of the press.

If Al Gore had won in 2000,

If Al Gore had won in 2000, today's headlines would read, "Reporter beheaded for insulting Hussein".

Come to think of it, we may get that headline here at home in the coming years...

"Beauty is only skin deep, but liberal's to the bone." - me

Actually the headline...

might read something like this...

"Hatred for Bush continues as racist Iraqi reporter throws shoes at beloved President Obama"

And the story would be something along the lines of:

"A racist Iraqi reporter threw his shoes at the most beloved US President in modern times today, President Barack Hussein Obama, while at a news conference.  He was immediately pounced on by agents of the US Secret Service and whisked away where no other harm could be done to the magnificient leader who has been trying to undo eight years of international damage done by former President Bush, who soiled the land of Iraq by invading a sovereign nation and overthrowing its benevolent leader Saddam Hussein.

No harm was done to beloved President Obama and the evil reporter was beaten by other reporters later with the aid of US Secret Service agents.  'It's clear this was former President Bush's fault,' one reporter who asked not to be identified said.  'Clearly, if he had not invaded this sovereign nation this wonderful President Obama wouldn't have to clean up this tawdry mess.'"

That would come from the US press corps of course.  Pick your favorite source: MSNBC, ABC, CBS, The Washington Post, LA Times, NY Times, whomever.

Thus proving how brainless liberals are

I would read those comments but it's a vomitous waste of my time.  Only the traitors that are in support of the liberal cause and against America would view this as a positive thing.  Most liberals, to quote Ann Coulter "They throw like girls".

"What you can not enforce, do not command" -Sophocles-

when I saw the clip

I thought : "dang, he's fast for an old dude!"

With complete respect of course! :)  Gotta hand it to him for the quick recovery "size 10" comment too.

I am surprised you found that many comments that had reasonable spelling and less than a dozen exclamation points at D-kos.

"part of what I'm hoping to introduce as the next president is a new ethic of [government enforced] responsibility" - B. Obama

Apparently, some reporters

Apparently, some reporters took offense to what the idiot did.

I read one report that when they dragged this fella out of the room there was a pretty good blood trail.

Too bad he didn't catch it and throw it back!

Of course the headline would read...

"Bush throws shoe at Iraqi!"

It would have been an absolute treat to see him catch the shoe and wing 'em back at the cretin. Even better for him to take off his own shoes and chuck them at the bastard only hitting the Iraqi and knockin' him out!

To B. Boccone

An excellent point, Bianchi--except that I'm afraid if Bush had clobbered Shoe-boy with his own shoe, some idiot liberal anchor here at home would use the footage to illustrate a piece on "Why the Whole World Hates Us"!

The only thing that would

The only thing that would stop the Bush Derangement Syndrome is to see this president killed.  These are the times we live in....the person that tried to do what is good for America and for the world is scathingly being judged as an evil man. Meanwhile, his successor to-be is prejudged as a saint.

God help us.

And when the great Obama

is visiting in Iraq, the whole world will be happy, eh? I think the idiots are going to be surprised that the love that the rest of the world has for Obama is going to wear off a little sooner than theirs. I am disgusted by the thought of an Obama presidency, but I will be outraged if ANY one tries to attack him, in any manner. What is wrong with these people? I have read all this send Bush your old shoes for Christmas, wish it had of been a bomb, can we send money to the  thrower, have these people got a single clue? I think I am ashamed to be an American, with these idiots.GRRRRR.

Don't feel ashamed to be an

Don't feel ashamed to be an American...that's what these idiots want from you. They have no clue what it really means "to be an American"...we need to stand tall and show them. They obviously hate their own country (only because they don't agree with the current president), but they bask in their freedoms that allow them to bash the president and make fools of themselves.

Don't know who said that but it appears to be true...

I imagine that Queef Überdork and "Tingles" Matthews are seething with rage and green with envy that they didn't get to heave their $1,800.00 Berluti shoes at the Prez.
