On November 4th, 2008 millions of Americans were shocked that a man of Barack Obama's limited experience, extreme liberal positions and radical political alliances could be elected President of the United States. For many of these Americans, the explanation was rather simple... the news media, completely enamored with Obama, simply refused to do their job.
On Election day twelve Obama voters were interviewed extensively right after they voted to learn how the news media impacted their knowledge of what occurred during the campaign. These voters were chosen for their apparent intelligence/verbal abilities and willingness to express their opinions to a large audience. The rather shocking video below seeks to provide some insight into which information broke through the news media clutter and which did not.
The dozen Obama voters were asked the same 12 questions. Here are the results when they were asked which political party currently controls Congress:
ADARSHA: Umm.. Currently? Like? ...I don't know actually.
MELINDA: The Republicans.
NICK: Uh, Republicans.
JANAN: Probably Republicans because the President is Republican. That's my honest answer.
The rest of the Obama voters either didn't know or thought the Republicans controlled Congress. These voters were then asked about Barney Frank and Harry Reid but none knew who they were. Andree had heard of Nancy Pelosi but didn't know if she was a Democrat or Republican.
Despite this complete lack of information about Democrat congressional leaders, all of those interviewed in the video knew that it was Sarah Palin who had a pregnant teenage daughter and whose party spent $150,000 for clothes. They also "knew" that Palin "said" she could see Russia from her door even though it was actually Tina Fey doing a Palin impression on SNL. None of the interviewees knew it was Obama who said he had campaigned in "57 states" although many of the interviewees thought it was either Sarah Palin or John McCain who said that. Also none of those interviewed knew it Obama who won his first election by getting his all his opponents kicked off the ballot. Again, among those who claimed to "know," the culprit was identified as Sarah Palin.
There is a lot more in this video which must not be missed. After you stop laughing at how ill-informed these Obama voters are, you will realize how lacking our education system is and how extensively these voters' perceptions are shaped by the mainstream media. In fact, many of these voters identified PBS, Bill Maher, Jon Stuart, NPR, etc. as their sources for information. Be sure to check out the Zogby poll of 512 Obama voters at How Obama Got Elected since it verifies the misinformation that the video demonstrates.

I'm glad there's a whole posting on this...now more will see it. It is really an indictment of the media and what they covered and considered important during this campaign.
And there's the result. I hope they are proud.
BTW I suggest people go to the site besides viewing the embedded video here, and scroll down to the video og Zeigler's (he did the survey) apppearance on Hannity & Colmes. Of course, Alan Colmes, in his usual attack mode, accuses Zeigler of saying the Obama voters are ignorant and McCain voters smart and well-educated, when the point was what the media focused on.

November 18, 2008 - 10:35 ET by SeashellI just watched Zeigler on Hannity and Hannity said something to the effect that it upset him that these uneducated people cancel out his vote. That is exactly how I feel! I don't mean "formal education" of course, but I mean "people that don't have a clue" who they are voting for or why. That is why I get so upset when celebrities and rock stars get on TV and tell young kids to go vote, (VOTE OR DIE) but they don't tell them to go on the internet and read about the candidates so they can make an informed decision. Not to mention what groups like ACORN do. It just makes me furious.
Libs have always been uninformed
November 18, 2008 - 07:31 ET by Mica the MagnificentThey could have interviewed a thousand Obama supporters and got the same answers. Libs never change.
When Newt Gingrich became the Speaker of the House, CNN had a live, audience participation show with Judy Woodruff. When Judy mentioned the name 'Newt', the audience booed. One woman in the audience let out a loud 'oh, no!'
Judy stuck the microphone in her face and asked her if she really didn't like Newt? The woman responded that she hated him.
Judy actually followed up by asking this young woman why she hated him so much?
The woman stuttered, shook her head and mumbled until Judy, realizing she had a typical airhead lib on her hands, said 'you just hate him, right?'

That video and poll are no surprise to me
November 18, 2008 - 07:47 ET by garyganuThat video and poll are no surprise to me. I have been writing on my blog, about how the public schools, universities, the media and the arts have been deceptive, manipulative and biased.
The clearest example of this is the global warming theory. I find it amazing that an unproven theory, that defies common sense, is being taught in our schools and universities, as if it were fact.
I have a niece who is studying to be a "rocket scientist" in a liberal California university. At my first opportunity, I will ask this budding genius those twelve questions. I will be surprised if she gets many correct.
These days when I see college students, I do not admire them for their quest for knowledge. They have no wisdom. They follow a heard mentality toward whatever is considered to be cool, and in opposition to love of God, family and country.
They have been brainwashed to believe that diversity, in and of itself, is a virtue. Thus they celebrate and embrace the most negative and bizarre forms of diversity and are admired by their peers, teachers and even parent(s) for it. This is what they have been taught since they were young.
They question, reject and vilify, anything that helped make our nation, the freest, wealthiest, most benevolently powerful nation that this world has ever seen.
However, change is taking place. I see the bricks that form the foundation of this nations greatness being removed one by one. We are on the road to becoming a third rate corrupt and poor nation, like Mexico and Venezuela.
It is sad to see this happening before my very eyes. What is saddest, is that this downhill spiral from American exceptionalism to economic and spiritual bankruptcy, is being lead by today's students and the universities that fill their heads with mush.

Obama won with McCain's help
November 18, 2008 - 09:41 ET by garyganuThere is one more person who was relentlessly helping Obama. The sad thing is that it seemed to me that McCain was actually helping Obama.
McCain did not call Obama's character into question, despite his association with radicals. These associations were the rule rather than the exception. This is also why the average Joe hasn't heard of Tony Rezco, Bill Ayers, Brenadine Dorne, Rashid Kalhidi, and ACORN. These associations were the rule, not the exception.
McCain did not bring up the Rev. Wright issue because he thought it would be deemed to be racist. Are we no longer allowed to criticize minorities. Is that the new definition of tolerance.
I believe that McCain was not passionate in his campaign because in his heart he wanted to see Obama win the election. On many issues they were in agreement, such as global warming and open borders. They both voted for the 700billion dollar bailout.
I believe that McCain did not want to be the one to stand in the way of history being made, the first black president.

I have to disagree on that. I can't imagine anyone working so hard 7 days a week, 24 hrs. a day only to lose. I think that McCain began this campaign saying he would not run a "negative campaign" and vowed to stick by that. What he didn't realize was that 1) the MSM would not to their jobs, and 2) that telling voters facts about your opponent is not "negative campaigning", it is telling the truth (although every time McCain would actually speak up the MSM was right there is tell us all what a neg. campaign he was running). Question
November 18, 2008 - 09:16 ET by Remixer96How does one inform oneself if not through media?
We should have passed
November 18, 2008 - 09:42 ET by TD in FLWe should have passed legislation years ago regarding a voter intelligence (of the issues) requirement. A simple 10 multiple choice questionaire should be assessed prior to voting regarding candidate stances. The assessment would be given on a portable touchscreen device once voters enter the line. If they fail, e.g. get maybe less than 6 correct, then they are told to go home. This would not discriminate against unintelligent people, as you don't have to be intelligent to understand where a candidate stands. This also means that if you have a decent understanding of what "your party" stands for, you should be able to get by on the questionaire with just that knowledge (this helps eliminate the disadvantage some people have with limited access to the media - poor, elderly, etc.). If you intend to vote for someone just because they are cool or the media loves them, or they look like you, sorry, you fail.
If you want to have a voice in electing someone with great sway over the direction of the country, your voice should be informed.

Ignoring half the picture
November 18, 2008 - 09:01 ET by Remixer96I think the video is saddening, but I also think it's saddening that this post misses the other half of the story... that voters on the right were manipulated by the media into believing untruths as well.
For example, in Texas, a UT survey estimated nearly a quarter of registered voters believed Obama to be a Muslim. This is in direct contradiction to the issue surrounding Reverend Wright, a Christian pastor.
That the electorate is uninformed or irrational is not new, and I believe both sides deserve roughly equal blame.

November 18, 2008 - 09:22 ET by KC MulvilleExcept for the fact that the media is overwhelmingly liberal, I'd agree with you. But since the media is overwhelmingly liberal, it changes the equation. If they were simply inept equally, no problem, but the lack of public awareness favors liberals.

November 18, 2008 - 09:31 ET by Remixer96I'd agree that the mainstream media has a leftward tilt, but I don't think think it changes the issue of uninformed voters because I still see the misinformed on a grand scale in both parties.
It makes me think the bias of the media might not be the most important factor when it comes to voter ignorance.

November 18, 2008 - 09:28 ET by Smartypants"That the electorate is uninformed or irrational is not new, and I believe both sides deserve roughly equal blame."
Sorry, but I disagree. While it is likely true that there are uninformed voters on both sides, it is patently false to say that the degree of this ignorance is equal. The political left, by its very nature, relies on voter ignorance and general misinformation to win elections. This past election is the truest case in point. Barack Obama would not have had a chance at even being nominated if the media were upfront about his background and experience. As this article points out, the media's kid-glove treatment of Obama, combined with the ravaging of anything conservative that goes on in schools--from primary to college--has led to an electorate that is ignorant to a significant degree. These on the street interviews are not an aberration, but are reflective of reality.
Sure, media can manipulate those on the right and the left, but the left continues to hold most of the mainstream press. This is why many people, who are barely paying attention, think FOX News is the only biased network, that Republicans solely caused the current financial crisis, that Bush's tax cuts benefitted only the wealthy and caused deficits, Bush plundered the Constitution, etc.
The bottom line is that Democrats benefit far more from public ignorance than do Republicans. The stereotypes of conservatives that are held by so many people are prime evidence of this fact.

November 18, 2008 - 09:40 ET by Remixer96"The political left, by its very nature, relies on voter ignorance and general misinformation to win elections."
You can't start with your conclusion and expect to win an argument. I do not accept your claim that the nature of the political left is base don ignorance and misinformation any more than I would accept that claim about the nature of the political right.
"These on the street interviews are not an aberration, but are reflective of reality."
These interviews involve 12 people, which you claim to represent nearly everyone who voted for Obama. That means you claim these 12 people represent roughly 110 million Americans.
I don't think it's likely that any 12 individuals represent 55% of the US electorate.
"Sure, media can manipulate those on the right and the left, but the left continues to hold most of the mainstream press."
I don't disagree that the mainstream press is tilted to the left, but I see nothing that shows it has any impact on increased voter ignorace for any political party.

November 18, 2008 - 10:09 ET by SmartypantsRemixer:
Check out the end of the video. It references a full Zogby Poll that the interviews were based upon. The video is merely a reference of the total picture.
I did not state that these interviews represent "nearly everyone" (your words) who voted for Obama. We have an evenly split electorate for the most part. A candidate, and the media, only has to influence a small percentage of people to win election. The interviews, and related polling, reflect a large level of ignorance of those who voted for Obama.
The fact that you don't see how these few voters were manipulated by what they see and hear on tv and other left wing outlets represents your own bias. Again, take a look at the full poll.
Remix, nobody is going to convince you of anything you don't want to believe. Conservatives have indeed been stereotyped, to a significant degree by the mainstream press. I gave several specific examples in my post of false beliefs that are still widely held by the public. Instead of taking anyone's word for it, why don't you check out the polls and see who the public blames for the current economic crisis, which was not caused by Republicans. Where do these ideas come from?
Finally, Remixer, you have accepted the fact that the media tilts to the left and you accepted the idea that there is general ignorance out there. Yet, you too have drawn your own conclusion without evidence. You concluded that this ignorance is evenly spread across the board, the "both sides do it" philosophy. Yet, where is your evidence of this? Sure, you might find some ignorant McCain voters, but that is not evidence that the ignorance is evenly spread. In fact, you have no evidence in support of your own conclusion.
Rebuttal
November 18, 2008 - 13:07 ET by Remixer96Smarty,
The Zogby poll seems to indicate that those who voted for Obama do badly when tested on basic civic and well when asked about the nonsense issues the media focused on. I don't deny it, but I believe there is a lack of civics knowledge generally across the nation (something like a quarter can't name the three branches of government), and without a comparison poll to those who voted for McCain, it's not fair to jump to the conclusion that Obmaa voters are ill informed.
You didn't explicitly say this video was a representation of all voters, but I think it's hard to deny that was your implication after citing that the political left is based on ignorance and misinformation and then calling the most recent example a case in point.
I actually agree with what I think is the main thrust of your point, that elections are on the whole decided by a small number of ignorant people in the middle. Arguably, this is what leads to demonization politics, because this ignorant middle isn't willing to digest much more. However, even if Obama swung these voters in this election, it does not mean all Obama voters are ill-informed or ignorant as the title of the NB piece, or several of the other comments around would suggest. It means only that Obama swung the ignorant in the middle, the same ignorant that swung for Bush before him and Clinton before him.
To repeat, I didn't attempt to deny anything about conservative stereotypes or who Americans blame the economic crisis on. Please do not argue with me for things I haven't said.
And finally, I believe the video to be a spot survey, much as the University of Texas poll found 25% of Texans believed Obama to be a Muslim. All in hand, it seems to me that both sides are susceptible to untruths.

November 19, 2008 - 09:43 ET by SmartypantsRemix:
I think you're missing the point of this poll and video. While I agree that there is a general lack of understanding of civics across the country, the poll contrasted these questions with questions about nonsense issues like Sarah Palin's wardrobe, etc. The respondents, who knew little about civics, invariably answered these questions correctly. Also, the respondents were quick to accuse the Republican candidates of making the "57 states" comment. This is directly linked to the media's lack of focus on anything negative related to Obama. The media portrayed Obama as above it all, and that is how the respondents saw things. So, I partially agree, but overall I still disagree with you. This poll and what it demonstrates goes well beyond just basic civics. And the Texas poll you keep bringing up is a more limited poll than this one; that's one state. And who is to say that Obama is not a Muslim? Have you seen definitive proof of his religious preferences? He joined a radical church in Chicago; however, there is a lot of evidence that it was done for political expediency. Really, the guy strikes me as being not all that religious one way or another. If he was convinced he had to be a Budhist to be president, I think he'd be heading to the Temple tomorrow.

November 18, 2008 - 13:12 ET by Remixer96The sample in the video holds no statistical weight, because it wasn't a SRS, had significant confounding variables (such as being willing to speak to a large audience), and is insufficiently large to make a prediction about the true intelligence of the population.
It within reason that the group above does not represent the true intelligence of Obama voters.

Many specualte that Obama "attended" Rev Wright's church to establish connections. The fact that Obama renounced the Black Liberation Theological teachings of his Pastor and Mentor of 20 years begs the question of his actual attendance and commitment to either BLT or even Christianity.
In fact, there are multiple YouTube videos of Obama mocking the Bible and Christianity.
Furthermore, his stance on abortion and infanticide (in the case of failed abortion) contradicts the basic Christian belief of the sanctity of life of the unborn.
I would say that Obama is neither Christian nor muslim, but rather part of the liberal-godless realm.

I worry about our nation's future because so many voters will chose a shallow TV personality over one with real character.
What's really telling to me,
November 18, 2008 - 10:14 ET by SmartypantsWhat's really telling to me, Mary, is the nature of the answers of the few people in this video. It is the fact that they were so quick to assign the "57 states" comment to McCain or Palin, not knowing who really made the statement. They have been brainwashed into believing that the Republicans solely have screwed everything up, so they must control Congress, right? What is also telling is how they know nothing about the questionable side of Obama's character and background. Even if these individuals were "cherry-picked" somehow, they are still voters, who display an astounding level of ignorance about the very person they are supporting.

I am not college-educated (only did one semester and then left), but when it comes to my country and world events, I make it my business to know what's going on, who is in charge and what they are doing to improve our great country.
It is sad how uninformed people really are.
I don't blame the media.
I blame these IDIOTS who did not bother to research anything for themselves!! The truth is in plain sight!
This is sickening...
Not surprised
November 18, 2008 - 09:43 ET by jackie3This doesn't surprise me at all. Many people who pat themselves on the back for actually voting in this election have no idea what the political parties are nor anything beyond what they see on a TV commercial.
The schools are so bad that I have to tell my daughter not to repeat anything she hears at home in fear of her getting in trouble. (Simply because I see Obama as a criminal.) The schools are also attacking personal habits - like smoking.
Instead of just telling the kids it's bad for them, the schools treat smoking like a criminal act. When my daughter sees someone smoking she starts to scold that person. I have to pull her aside and tell her she's wrong. That smoking is a right.
When I asked my daughter about if she had learned about the election her reply was - Obama this and Obama that. When I asked who she would vote for she replied - Obama. When I asked her why she would vote for him she didn't know why.
She didn't learn the parties or why there is an election. She didn't learn the symbols or the branches of government. Just vote for Obama. I have had to correct the crap that our public school has filled her head with.
Our school is in a conservative dominated town. I can just imagine what the city schools teach.
Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large groups.

public school is an indoctrination camp
November 18, 2008 - 10:31 ET by choselife3xand has been for several decades. Might as well hand your kids over to hostile forces. The very existence of government run schools is anti-American.
In order to be pro-choice, one must first be born. Ah, the irony.
Don't forget the teachers!
November 18, 2008 - 10:50 ET by Mary Louise TurnerLet's not forget who is responsible for poisoning the students in today's toxic public school environment - the teachers and their odious unions! So many teachers were so enthusiastic for Mr. Obama that they had to spread their idiotic ideas (and his) to their vulnerable charges.
If you don't want your kids parroting liberal garbage, get them out of public schools - now!
Hey now, not all of us are
November 18, 2008 - 12:26 ET by TexasteacherHey now, not all of us are like that. I believe teachers should keep their political pieholes shut unless a student asks a question ouside of the classroom setting. Unfortunately, I am probably the only one who thinks like that. But I am with you on the unions. I hate them. They don't do jack-diddly-squat unless it is a direct benefit for them personally, union members be danged.
OK, I apologize
November 18, 2008 - 14:03 ET by Mary Louise TurnerTexasteacher, I goofed! I should have said, too many teachers (especially at middle and high school level) poison their charges with PC thinking. I apologize to every good teacher who keeps his or her political bents out of the classroom...
Apology accepted :)

I actually convinced my wife
November 18, 2008 - 13:31 ET by TD in FLI actually convinced my wife who is a teacher to vote Republican this year. We're both relatively young and attended a very liberal college, so in the past we've both voted for Democrats, without a real understanding of all the issues. At least I am proof that conversion is possible. However, it's not easy. If I didn't do my own research to find unbias sources, it would have likely been another Dem vote because that's what the MSM pushes. It did relieve me a bit when she said many of her teacher friends were going to vote Repub this year though. We have to keep in mind that teachers don't have access to scour the Internet throughout the day while at work. The last thing my wife wants to do is spend time at the computer researching politics. The easier thing to do is watch the news for a bit (we don't have cable, so no FoxNews). That is why reeling in the liberal press is so important. I've done my part, but there are countless others indoctrinated with the same BS as me, but haven't yet questioned whether or not they are truely informed.
Great news TD
November 18, 2008 - 14:00 ET by general companyWelcome to the Right. You and your Wife's experience is important. It can help show others the slight of hand the msm plays with the truth. Thanks

too late
November 18, 2008 - 10:04 ET by LionKingI respect the work I founding fathers did, but it is unfortunate that their is not an intelligence prerequisite to vote. Unfortunately, if there had been one,it would have been another opportunity for fraud.
Really powerfull stuff
November 18, 2008 - 10:57 ET by badcleatsYou could add all the talking heads on T V, after the election, multiply it by 1000, and you could never come up with a testament to the outcome of the election like you can with this video. It says it all, there is nothing left to debate. Newsbusters has a gem, and I hope they keep this video alive for a long time. My own personal question is, why did 54% of Roman Catholics vote for a person that approves of murdering babies?
Roman Catholics
November 18, 2008 - 11:32 ET by 5kidsnadogMy mother in law actually spoke to me from her death bed after the election. She is a lifelong Catholic, but called to jab me a bit about the election. She loves Obama, and knows all she needed to know about him after she read his books - he is a GREAT man according to her (this from a woman who makes me cringe with the blatant prejudices she displays on a regular basis). When I asked her how she could say that, given his stance on the Born Alive Act, she told me she didn't believe that about him and that nothing I could say would convince her.
Oh, I am beginning to wish that I too, was susceptible to hypnosis. It would sure make losing my country much more comfortable.

The Main Stream Mafia's
November 18, 2008 - 10:59 ET by JerryThe Main Stream Mafia's Barrack and Awe Campaign was a complete success. Unfortunately, the targets of their "Dumb Bombs" were not intelligent enough to seek cover, and thus easily fell prey to the steady barrage of "Bonker Busters".
When asked if he went to war with Iraq to derail the impeachment vote: “I don’t think any serious person would believe that any President would do such a thing." - President Clinton (Dec 1998).
Illustrates perfectly
November 18, 2008 - 11:58 ET by doug1950the abject ignorance of about half of the voting public. Too many in our country are willing to sell their vote regardless of the consequences. It matters not wether they are selling it while looking for a free ride, a handout. convenience or for a couple of dollars and a package of cigarettes or a six pack of beer, the results are the same. This sampling of voters gives all one needs to believe the system is broken, corrupt and severely flawed. The US should no longer be allowed to go into other countries to monitor their elections until we clean up our own mess. There should be one standard for all national elections instead of the this succotash of rules and regulations that changes with the wind directions or on the whim of a single bureacrat (Ohio). Why is it always the Dems who can't seem to figure out how to operate a voting machine or a paper ballot? They have rigged the system for decades and now it is so screwed up you can't get a screwdriver on the end of it.
Scary!
November 18, 2008 - 12:14 ET by centurion2674First time commenter. I've come here because I've read NB for a while, and I lowered myself to (and recently ceased) debating idiots on YouTube. Partly because of that experience, I am not surprised at this at all, but it's still frightening to see people who are so uninformed actually voting! Despite the hard times that may be ahead, I think McCain would have done more damage to the conservative movement. I just pray people will wake up from the experience we are about to have.

This reminds me of Dancing
November 18, 2008 - 12:23 ET by TexasteacherThis reminds me of Dancing with the Stars. Oh, how my wife loves that show.
Sometimes there will be a contestant that has absolutely no ability to dance, but they have a huge fan base. No matter what they do on the show and no matter how bad the expert judges say they are, their fan base will keep voting for them just because. That seems to be what happened with this election. The democraps wanted to see their pony win, and the republicans were too scared of being called racists for mentioning anything that would make lord obama look like he's not immortal.
It needs to be like Mythbusters. If it passes the tests, yay! If not, they blow it up. I love that show!

Voter's Remorse
November 18, 2008 - 12:44 ET by Hunter12Except for the fact that it will be such a disaster for the country, the moment these people wake up and realize that their pensions and 401k's are being taxed to pay for the votes needed to keep these clowns in power, may actually be funny. "Hey, I'm ready to retire, but I can't because the stock market is in the crapper. Barney and Chris, Freddie and Fannie weren't OK and the bailout money is coming out of my taxes. I have to pay 39% on the money I saved in my 401K? President Obama, I'm not one of those rich guys you were talking about. Why are you taking my money?"

My 13 year old 'Gets it'.
November 18, 2008 - 19:41 ET by GlubberMan,
I was never prouder of my 13 year old son when he came home from school one day. He told me that all these kids were happy that Obama won. He ask them, "Why are you happy?"
The other kids responded, "Because Obama is for change!" Where my kid asked, "What change?" The other kids just blabbered on, "Why change and hope, of course."
My kid then asked them again, "What kind of change? What kind of hope?"
The other kids were stumped.
THAT REMIXER is the education level of a typical Obama voter. A THIRTEEN YEAR OLD.
And you would NOT believe how many OBamanics did NOT know who controlled congress in my office. It is pandemic. Don't give me the Texas line. That is ONE state. Obamanics EVERYWHERE by a LARGE majority could NOT figure out who was in charge of congress.
Did we see in this election cycle our news media talking about the corruption of the Democrat controlled congress? About them upholding Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. You have seen the YouTube video from the 2005 congressional finance committee where Republicans and the administration were warning against the impending insolvency of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. And who defended Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac? Why Barney Frank and the other Democrats.
How many news cycles did we see about the West Palm Beach congressman that replaced Mark Foley? The one that ran on 'ethical morality' while HAVING an affair? And then CAUGHT givng a $100,000 payoloa hush money to her and then having ANOTHER affair with ANOTHER woman?
How about the VIP Countrywide loans to Dodd and Dorgan?
How about the California Congress woman that had FIVE home loan foreclosures? And then used the House car lease program and 'pimped' up her Caddie to the tune of $1,300 a month lease payments. That WE paid.
Did we hear about the FOUR rent controlled New York apartments by Charlie Rangel?
What about 'Cold Cash' Jefferson from Louisana?
How about the sweet heart lobbyist deals that Sen. Fienstein got for her husband?
The list goes on and on. Yes, I know that Republicans have foibles. But you SEE that on our news. For days and days and days.
All the stories aboved were run maybe one day, two tops, and then buried.
And in closing. I bet my 13 year old could clean your clock in an intelligence test.....
Voting
November 18, 2008 - 22:19 ET by ViperI cannot remember for sure, but I think it was discussed in one of the Federalist Papers regarding voting to be by property owners only. The reasoning behind this, if memory serves, was that property owners have a vested interest in their community and state and thereby the country. It would make no difference of the size of your holdings, but the fact that you are engaged in your pursuit of life, liberty and happiness as well as having a STAKE in our great country. American citizen, 18 years of age and a property owner would solve many issues. (Illegal votes being but one)
Something like that would certainly change the landscape.
With that, there would not be a need for some test for voter qualifications or knowledge. And we know how a test like that would play with the aclu, acorn, etc.
And regarding our founding fathers, there was some critical thinking!
