Left Angered Over Erin Brockovich Praise for Sarah Palin

  • Bookmark and Share

Julia Roberts might not be too happy when she finds out that the woman she portrayed in a movie of the same name, Erin Brockovich, is currently praising Sarah Palin. This is considered an act of treason by the left. And that is not the only "heresy" committed by Erin Brockovich who, until recently, was considered to be a "progressive." An article by John Vidal in the UK Guardian details Brockovich's "thought crimes" (emphasis mine):

...Although she rates herself as a leading environmentalist, she is extremely keen on Sarah Palin, the huntin', shootin' Alaskan governor running for vice president with the Republican candidate John McCain.

Environmentalists have painted Palin as the arch-enemy, to the right of Bush, because until last week she was denying climate change had anything to do with man, thought polar bears could go live on land and wants to see the Arctic drilled to within a quart of its oil.

But Palin is also being called the "Erin Brockovich of Alaska" and last week, on her blog, Brockovich came close to endorsing Palin. "Sure, she may be loud. So am I," she said. "Sometimes you've got to scream to get anyone to hear you. So what if her 17-year-old is pregnant? None of us should judge Sarah Palin for anything but her own actions."

What about her wanting to drill the arctic reserve? What about the bears and wolves that Palin shoots?

"No buts," says Brockovich. "The fact is that Sarah Palin positively emanates strength. She gives off the aura of being a strong woman who doesn't back down, and she does it sporting heels and wearing her family like a badge of honour. I am sure there are a million other women out there who are doing the same thing."

The blogosphere went wild, with people applauding or accusing. She denies moving to the right, pointing out that she's a registered Democrat, and says she'd be elated if asked to work with the Democrats. "But it's not about politics. I don't pick a person because they are a Republican or a Democrat but for the person. I like Obama. I like McCain. Both have strong points".

Her real beef is neither capitalism nor industry, Democrats nor Republicans, she says, but greed.

Erin Brockovich's other heresy is in supporting a (gasp!) Republican for the state senate in California. Brockovich, in her blog, explains:

...I am endorsing a local Senate candidate named Tony Strickland.

Tony Strickland is a friend of mine and a Republican. He is also for green energy and would make a great Senator.

The idea that we can't cross party lines is ridiculous.

So just how angry is the left at Brockovich's "heresy" in expressing admiration for Palin as well as endorsing a Republican? You can get a pretty good idea by taking a look at the Democratic Underground.  Here are a few sample rantings:

Who would have thought that Erin would be this stupid?

I think it's more an attitude of....we former bimbos have got to stick together.

Then Brockovich Isn't Too Bright Either and they are both too ignorant to live.

She was in those beauty competitions too...and quite the FRAUD

I think Erin Brockovich will soon find out, if she hasn't already, that her invites to mingle with the Hollywood glitterati will be quickly drying up. Any admiration expressed for Sarah Palin is considered taboo by most celebs whether in Hollywood or in the liberal media.

I have always admired the

I have always admired the real life Erin Brokovich regardless of her political beliefs.  The actual film, "Erin Brokovich" actually was one of those movies that motivated me to go to law school myself.

Glad to hear it!!!

I have been a big admirer of Erin Brockovich since I first became aware of her as a result of the 2000 movie made about her life. I couldn't disagree more with most of her political beliefs, which is why I am very surprised and extremely happy that she can appreciate Gov. Palin's accomplishments without letting her political ideologies get in the way.

I can only imagine what Ms. Brockovich's Hollywood "friends" must be thinking...I wonder how many of them will stop talking to her as a result of this "heresy"??

Time will tell, but in the meantime, 50 brownie points for Ms. Brockovich for having the backbone to stand up for what (and who) she believes in.

Sssssssssssssssh, don't

Sssssssssssssssh, don't tell liberals.  Ducks Unlimited is one the leading huntin' and shootin' organizations in America.

Oh, yeah, there are also the largest contributor in our country to the preservation of our wetlands and waterfoul conservation.

Another paradox . . .   What are the liberals to do?

Remember, don't tell the above to any liberals.  We don't want their brains to be too overtaxed!  Get it . . . liberals - overtaxed . . .  Oops, another paradox!

Hunters were the first and

Hunters were the first and still are the best conservationists.

Yep

That's what most "environmentalists" just can't wrap their closed little minds around. If it weren't for the taxes and fees (not to mention outright donations) that hunters and fisherman pay, many species of common wildlife would be rare or gone.

When we create a "hiking and hugging" license, with a tax on designer bush-boots, then maybe they can claim to really be doing something to help. Until then, they mainly just bloviate.

Ironic Isn't it

I find it somewhat ironic that the left congratulates itself so much for being the smarter, more intelligent group but can only seem to view people that think differently than they do in caricatures and their own stereotypes.  (The things they also claim to be so opposed to).

Why is recognizing the obvious considered "denying" something? Would you say that "she denies that the stork brings babies" or "she was denying that Sauron is a real person"? You don't DENY that climate change is man-caused. You RECOGNIZE it. The earth was around a long time before we started crawling around on its crust. It's the ultimate deification of humanity to claim that we somehow have forced the climate to do what it was doing for billions of years before we showed up.

And if Palin has suddenly hopped on the "man-made climate change" bandwagon she's just fallen about a zillion points in my estimation.

Hey Julia!

It's not like, y'know, bad guys and stuff would ever never attack Hollywood, like they did New York. I  mean you're all in it together, and there were these two big towers and stuff, but c'mon, let's get real - I mean you never have to worry about your Islam pals blowing up Hollywood, even if it's all run by Jews - they're in the tank for the money, and money is  the only mutual friend; so stop whining! Islamists won't be coming after you, at least not yet; so vote Obama - he's your  prayer  rug!

Conservatives have always

Conservatives have always relied on rationality, reasoned argument, and basic truths to promote their viewpoint. Liberals rely on emotions, rhetoric, and consensus to promote their viewpoint.

When a converative turns liberal, most conservatives are disappointed but see it as poor judgement. But when a liberal starts acting conservative it is heresy. Since it's a cult of personality, the defector may take others with them. Conservatives don't worry about defections because they believe in the truth of their arguments not the power of the personality.

Palin More "Right"?

So, Sarah Palin is to the right of Bush?  Pfft!  My cat is more "right" than Bush!

The left should be upset

The left should be upset (and worried). Evidently Sarah is one smart cookie...

Funny how liberals think

Funny how liberals think they are the free-thinking, open-minded, tolerant ones when in fact all liberals must conform to the party line du jour -- with absolutely no deviations -- or they will be drummed off the reservation.

Also, liberals are at a loss at what to think until they get the approved talking points. Once thay have them, they endlessly repeat them -- even after they've been disproved -- unless a new talking point arises. The old talking point then disappears down the memory hole.

Ever notice that if you argue with a liberal that  they all have the exact same arguments. Argue with one -- you argue with them all. And don't even bother to try to win the argument. If you get close all you will get then is viciousness, profanity, and denial.

NB Friends....

.....OFF TOPIC. Please keep an eye to youtube video uploads  that have been appearing regarding McCain and or Palin. They are gotcha type videos with questionable credibility with dozens of comments ALL of which put down the ticket. If you are a you tube member it's imperitive to post an honest opinion. I think this is major Axelrod at work. Check it out for yourselves. It appears to be many different user comments with vile comments. It smells of the Winner and Associates type propaganda.

Cool, You are so right.

Cool, You are so right. Ever notice how many trolls leave the discussion when you deconstruct their current talking point? Then they'll come back later with a rebuttal or new talking point?

I have no doubt that they ran off to Huffpost or Kos to get a proper response. Or failing that, to find a new talking point to segue to. I've noticed it can be very difficult to keep a liberal troll on topic. Same thing with a 9/11 Troofer.

These people have no reasoning or logic skills of their own. They have to keep running for guidance because they can't even analyze their own beliefs. Usually they lack the mental prowess to even try. They just "know" what they believe. To paraphrase Algore, "I leave the thinking to the experts."

If they (loony left) lose

If the (loony left) lose another presidential election on Nov. 4, I think they just might try to destroy the earth.

CS... Heck, if they can't

CS...

Heck, if they can't get their way this time...they would most certainly do just that if they were able to...I have never seen the likes of what is going on with them now in my 53 years.

I am serious.

My way or the highway to hell for them.

BT, I fully expect if Obama

BT, I fully expect if Obama loses that the MSM will refuse to validate the election. They probably already have their pieces in place to declare fraud on a monumental scale. This of course will be tantamount to a coup d'etat against our government instigated by the press.

A gun in your hand beats a cop on the phone.

KB...Yeah, believe me,

KB...

Yeah, believe me, it is in the back of my mind too...that is why I think/hope this is a lands-slide so they cannot do just what I expect with all the ACLU/trial-lawyers and all else they already have working and at the ready...we are getting some of what ACORN had done, but it is minuscule...

...gosh, when I heard that McCain put Warren Rudman and John Danforth as the head of keeping/checking the illegalities going on with registration nation-wide before the election I about came unglued...I just hope they have some real eagle beagle go-getters on the team, unlike them.

That is just me I know...but for me this is not a great thing.

Btw...Anybody  heard of the Concord Seven...McCain belonged to that, and he still lives it, along with Rudman of course, and Danforth fits right in, if I wasn't so lazy I would look for the link, when RJ was still here, he and I posted back and forth about this years ago, of course at the time it had nothing to do with McCain.

I edited some of this above..I couldn't remember the name Concord Seven at the time I posted...so I just did...and posted as such.

BT, I haven't heard about

BT, I haven't heard about the Concord Seven, I'll have to google it.

Yeah, I hope the Republicans have thought far enough ahead to have 10,000 crack lawyers on standby like the Democrats will.

I'm really nervous. I pray that we'll still be in a Democratic Republic, with the Constitution in effect, come Jan. 21, 2009.

KB... Just google

KB...

Just google Rudman+ the Concord Group, or McCain+The Concord Group...it was called the Concord 7 when I was a young woman and it never left me from way back when, I looked into it then, stored it in my mind and haven't forgotten any of it (this was before the computer ect)...Anyway, it is interesting, let alone enlightening, there are tons of links if memory serves me right...you will see what I am referring to.

"America isn't the problem...America is the solution." ~ Rush Limbaugh

you don't have to tell me about it

when I was in college my roommate was a pretty liberal guy and we got into some pretty heated arguments about things. This was back in 96-98 Clinton years. I found it easier to just avoid talking about politics altogether, reasoning with a brick wall was more productive. He was a nice guy with good intentions, but he based his decisions on emotion and that his family were all Democrats. He admitted that once. And he described me as Mr Rational once which I took as a compliment. But between the four of us in that campus apartment, I was outnumbered 3-1 politically. Thank God that was 10 years ago in a much less nasty political environment, if this was now I think we all literally would have killed each other!

It is hardly surprising that Erin admires Sarah.

At the 10,000 foot level Erin Brockovich’s story is remarkably similar to how Sarah Palin started out to fix things and reform things.  The main difference is that Sarah Palin worked her way up to the governor level [so far].

With respect to personality they may be practically cousins.  It is hardly surprising that Erin admires Sarah.  What’s not to like and admire about both of them?  What Hollywood extolled about Erin is applicable to Sarah Plain in spades; the differences lie in the detail of their respective issues.  But, uh oh, Sarah Palin does not align with Hollywood’s politics.  And OMG, Sarah Palin is a woman in every sense of the word – not the feminazi that aligns with Hollywood’s predilections concerning what a feminist leader should look and act like.  (I not claiming that Erin fits the mold of a Hillary, or not; though I suspect not; but with Erin it does not matter so much because her leadership is not so as large as Sarah Palin’s is, or [especially] may be.)

Once again the odious prejudices and attitudes Hollywood prevent its elitists from recognizing and appreciating truly great character and ability.  No wonder Hollywood simply cannot make a good movie any more that isn’t completely dominated by special effects.

Impunitas semper ad deteriora invitat.

Trading Places: Obama

The whole country admired Erin Brockovich.  I didn't know what
political party she was with; I really don't care.
(My next sentence was: Now, do you think the MSM will pick up this
story?)  We know damn well the MSM will not pick up this story.
Everyday they sink lower and lower into irrelevance.  I'm past mad.
I'm sick to my stomach to have trusted them when I was a younger man. I'm at
the threshold now.  Before, I'd like to watch and read the MSM just to
laugh and point at the bias.  But now it's hypocritical and sexist and I
can't watch them anymore getting away with stealing an election.  They
actually may think they can elect a president if they try hard enough.
What's that Eddie Murphy movie with Dan Ackroyd?  Yeah, Trading Places ( I
had to look it up). The one where they take the bum and turn him into an
executive?  That's the MSM with Obama. Obama was nothing a few years
ago.  But as soon as he won the U.S. Senate, the MSM has been all over
him.  And now he's running for President.

The whole country admired

The whole country admired Erin Brockovich.  I didn't know what
political party she was with; I really don't care.

Not the whole country.

I suggest you read Erin Brockovich Exposed by Michael Fumento, and follow the links, both pro and con. Then decide.

There was more to the real story than the lowly legal aide takes on the big, evil corporation and wins that the movie portrayed.

How fast

How fast the MSM turns on its heroes if they don't follow the line. Send her out for re-education.

It's the Obama Way or the Highway

Cut through the bile...

... and you get this gem:

"Then Brockovich Isn't Too Bright Either and they are both too ignorant to live."

And that pretty much says it all about the left's mindset and "final solution" for any who don't follow the herd.

Sound familiar? In several languages?

What's Wrong With Beauty

What's with the remark about being a beauty contestant? Do Democratic women all have to resemble the party's mascot to gain acceptance from the party?

I'd much rather look at Sarah Palin and Erin Brockovich than Hillary Clinton and Janet Reno. And what about Madeline Albright!!! Talk about your aggressive forein policy.

Right Angered Over Conservative's Reality Check on Palin

Now let's take a look at the right's reaction to a  similar situation except it's conservatives commenting on a conservative's article.
Contrast how much more respectful, civilized, and open minded the right wingers are towards Kathleen Parker.

"Any admiration expressed for Sarah Palin is considered taboo
by most celebs whether in Hollywood or in the liberal media."
Ohhh the irony, the irony...:

The following are actual comments directed towards Kathleen Parker re:her latest National Review column: ThePalinProblem.
Each seperate comment is from a different commenter!

Speaking of BS, Miss Parker BS is currency, at least in your case.

Kathleen The Turncoat

Kathleen Parker's an idiot         (An opinion expressed by multiple commenters)

So shame on you, Parker. You hurt your own party and you did it for purely personal reasons. your piece was hack writing at the absolute worst, which failed to even make a case beyond your own personal biases.

Once again congrats on being a complete tool.

Who is Kathleen Parker?

What an arrogant, elitist hatchet job on Sarah Palin. But then why should anyone care what Kathleen Parker thinks?

The Mind is a Terrible Thing to Waste Get rid of her.

Parker you are a joke and you need to go back to work for the libs.

It's as obvious as the nose on anyone's face that you're jealous Ms. Parker. It's really pathetic to see how far women will go to discredit one of their very own because of petty jealousy. Ms.Parker. Honestly, it sounds like someone is suffering from Palin Jealousy Syndrome.

She is obviously in the tank for BHO

You are a biased Liberal Sarah Palin is twice the woman you are

Parker takes justified hits. Well, Ms. Parker, from the look
of things, you've been sufficiently beat up.
