NBC Comedians Crash MSM Wall of Silence to Tell John Edwards Jokes

  • Bookmark and Share

It's a strange dichotomy. While NBC News  continues to maintain a wall of silence regarding the alleged John Edwards scandal, the comedians on that network are having a field day joking about it. On Monday night Jay Leno told the following John Edwards joke:

John Edwards asks Kobe Bryant, 'What's a good jewelry store?'

Conan O'Brien went even further on Tuesday night with an extended  joke that incorporated video shots of his band leader, Max Weinberg, as well as trombonist Richie "LaBamba" Rosenberg:

O'BRIEN: I'm sure many of you have heard the rumors about former Sen. John Edwards having a secret love child with a woman who used to work for him. Yeah, and when the story first broke, Edwards denied it. One of his former political aides claimed that it was he, not Edwards, that had made the woman pregnant. Well since then however the woman has confided that Edwards actually is her baby's father. And last week The National Enquirer caught Edwards visiting the woman in a hotel.

I want to talk about this just for a second. Now, I don't know about you but I find this whole thing really disgusting.

What kind of a guy would cheat on his wife, make another woman pregnant, and then still pretend to be an upstanding family man?

(Cut to shot of Max Weinberg)

It's ridiculous. I mean, I guess some jerks, in the public eye think they can do whatever sleazy little they feel like doing and then just scurry away like a weasel.

(Cut to shot of Max Weinberg)

Now only a spineless dirtbag would leave his trusting wife at home and then sneak off for a quickie with his out of town baby mama. It just makes me sick.

(Cut to shot of Max Weinberg)

A guy who probably spends less money supporting his army of illegitimate kids than he does on imitation Italian suits and over-priced hair gel.

(Cut to shot of Max Weinberg)

And rather... rather than take responsibility for his despicable actions, he gets some underling to take the heat for him, some innocent, insignificant schlub too stupid to realize he's being used.

(Cut to shot of LaBamba)

If you are as outraged as I am by all this, please address your angry emails to: cowardlyadulteroussleazeball@NBC.com

It is very interesting that an alleged scandal that has entered our popular culture continues to be ignored by the mainstream media. Meanwhile comedians will now have a lot more John Edwards scandal material to work with thanks to the latest information released by the National Enquirer:

A NATIONAL ENQUIRER investigation has uncovered John Edwards’ mistress, Rielle Hunter – the mother of his “love child” – has been secretly receiving $15,000 a month as part of an elaborate cover-up orchestrated by the former presidential contender.

The money is being funneled to Hunter by a wealthy colleague who was closely tied to the Edwards’ campaign. This same man is also shoveling cash to Edwards’ pal and former aide Andrew Young – who tried to take the heat off the ex-Senator by claiming he is the father of Rielle’s baby.

And The ENQUIRER is also exclusively revealing that Rielle’s baby is a girl named Frances Quinn Hunter and was born at Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital.

“A super-rich pal – who was closely involved with the campaign finances – is helping John. It’s likely this man doesn’t know all the dirty details of John’s extramarital affair, but is acting out of loyalty and is not asking a lot of questions – only writing the checks,” revealed a source very close to the situation.

So will the MSM at least double check the information in this story? If their past attitude is any indication, don't hold your breath. However, we can still continue to laugh at the jokes told by comedians about material that the major media still refuses to cover.

With the exception of Obama for some reason...comedy knows no bias.

say what you want about the Enquirer

But it's becoming very clear that they have a very well placed source within Edwards' camp. It's also very clear, by the way he has totally STFU, that Edwards is a lawyer...
JMR

The tax & spend drug war looks racist in the real world.

How Does The Enquirer Differ The NYT's?

I am being serious.  Edwards called the story tabloid trash, but couldn't we say the same about the NYT's running the story on McCain?  Granted, the NYT's didn't have the evidence to back up their claim, unlike the Enquirer. So who is the tabloid trash?  As I read somewhere, maybe here...Does the Edwards camp want me to believe that a top trial lawyer wouldn't go after the Enquirer?  Really?  His wife is dying, his children see this, and the man doesn't sue for slander?

Bingo

"Does the Edwards camp want me to believe that a top trial lawyer wouldn't go after the Enquirer?"

You nailed that one, Pam. Excellant!

I bet Obama didn't hurt his hip playing B-ball afterall!  And his wifey Michelle hasn't been seen ofr a long time.

I wonder who's basket Obama has been shooting lately!

Obama, we don't need you stinkin CHANGE!

My Baby's Daddy

I can't wait to hear someone say "my baby's daddy" in relation to John Edwards. Will it be his wife? Will it be his mistress? Or, will it be surprise contestant behind door #3?

In the Dem party, Johnny is just resume' building.

Wow, $15,000 a month for doing the two back boogie with the girliest man in Washington. Not bad.

Slow Death

I'm thinking The Enquirer prefers a slow death over a quick kill.  Fortunately, the refusal to cover news is becoming bigger news.  Couldn't have happened to a more deserving fella.  "Attorney General Edwards" had me more petrified than "Justice Hillary".

You guys can say what you

You guys can say what you want, John is right! There is two Americas, one that loves their wife, loves this great country, takes care of their families, and do the right thing even when no one is watching. Then there those who don’t..

John, some how I wish you would read this:

You utterly disgust me. You sue doctors for a living, you use your wife’s cancer as a tool to raise donations, your wife teams up with Prissy Mathews to ambush Ann Coulter just to bring in donations, you live in a 28,000 square foot house while complaining that there is two America’s  one for the rich and one for the poor.Your “house” is half the size of a football field!! Yet complain that the poor do not get a break.

All the while you are banging some ugly blond and have a kid with her. You are so utterly with out class that it is breathtaking. The funny part is your neighbor who lived in the old house next door (that your wife was afraid of) and looked down on, had more class in his shoes then you or your entire family.

I feel bad even being from the same state as you, Mr.: my dad worked in a mill. I bet when he looks down on you, he shakes his head in disgust.

You can not purchase principles, morality, or ethics, you are living proof of that..

does the word HYPOCRITE come to mind?

He should team up the Jessie Jackson, you guys would be great together. Jessie could shake down the white business’s and you can shake down the doctors,  to support their “other families” while telling “us” that we need to look out for the poor. And how bad we all are.

Only in the Democratic party are these people revered.

Leno gets it right. Where is the MSM?

Last night Leno said:

"The National Enquirer caught former presidential candidate John Edwards sneaking out of his girlfriend's hotel room at 2:40 in the morning. Edwards got caught because the reporters were there waiting for him. See, If Edwards didn't want to get caught he should have met the woman at the hotel where John McCain was staying. There are no reporters there".

"Why can't I just eat my waffle?" -- Obama

that's quite funny. And

that's quite funny.

And of course, Edwards could also wear a McCain mask, stroll around hand in hand with the MILF in public, and no one would bat an eyelid.

Vote 4 change. Vote 4 anything. See Jack & Mr Shy's first campaign ad for the ONLY viable 3rd party candidate.

Glenn Beck had a strange

Glenn Beck had a strange take on this last week. He spent quite some time fantasizing about how much Edwards could make suing The Enquirer and a recitation of a proposed powerful and scathing Edwards summation in a law suit where he acted as his own attorney. Beck must really hate The Enquirer.

McNotObama '08

Chris...

Glenn was coming at it from a different dierction. His problem with the Enquirer is them going after a guy while his wife is struggling with life and death.

Understood. Still, if true,

Understood. Still, if true, then what does the same set of circumstances say about Edwards?

McNotObama '08

Chris, hey, no arguments

Chris, hey, no arguments from me. I was just explaining Glenns take.

After spending the last 6 days running from one hospital to another trying to save my wifes transplanted Kidney, I have zero respect for Edwards for what he is doing.

45 Communist Goals for America http://www.nationmakers.com/com_goals.htm

Oh, no. I didn't mean to

Oh, no. I didn't mean to sound like I thought you agreed with the take. I just thought it was strange for Beck to riff so strongly on the subject. While hardly a bastion of dignified journalism (to put it very mildly), occasionally The Enquirer does get it right. This doesn't mean in any way that they aren't sleezy. It seemed to me that Beck was letting his disdain for the Enquirer completely rule out that Edwards might be guilty of what they're reporting. Distasteful - yes - but, perhaps, true. And if true, although it would be horrible news to Elizabeth Edwards, it would have been reported by the MSM if Edwards was a Republican. With crocodile tears, sure, but reported loud and often.

NBC removes Edwards infidelity jokes in 7/25 Leno monologue

I was surprised to see Leno spend about a minute on Edwards infidelity in his 7/25 monologue.  Of course this followed several McCain jokes on his age and lack of attention from the MSM as well as announcing Obama was elected Chancellor of Germany.

What's interesting is the fact they removed the Edwards segment from the monologue replay available on their web site:

http://www.nbc.com/T...

You can see the original here by selecting the 7/25 show:

Lame Stream Media

They are so invested in electing BHO that they are going to bury anything negative about anybody even remotely connected to him.  I don't think the MSM has ever been so blatently in the tank for a candidate in the past.  And that is hard to beat.

My opinion of Brian Williams at NBC went from about 2 to a negative 50 when he tried to say that bias is in the eye of the beholder.  Brian, when your news show talks about BHO over McCain by 2 to 1 and you refuse to even contemplate the possibility that bias may exist within your organization, then you are blind and not trustworthy for news information.  If you are not trustworthy with yourself, then you are not trustworthy with others.

The MSM can't possibly

The MSM can't possibly break the John Edwards-love child story right now. That would knock the Ted Stevens [you know, senior Republican senator] story off the front page. They have to milk that one for at least another week.

The editor of Wonkette, Ken

The editor of Wonkette, Ken Layne, has written an excellent article titled John Edwards and the Scandal Nobody Wanted. The following is an excerpt: “Yes, John, fine. But what were you doing hiding from Enquirer reporters in the bowels of the Beverly Hills Hilton at 2 a.m. last Tuesday, the same hotel where Rielle Hunter was allegedly occupying a pair of suites?”

The article also has a link to a short video of John Edwards, with his wife beside him, at a press conference where he is surprised by a question regarding the National Enquirer story.

Ann Coulter provides her take on the John Edwards affair here. Her parting comment: “If only Republican Larry Craig had been in the bathroom, the MSM might have covered it.”

---------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm voting for Barack Obama now that an unbiased AP poll shows people would rather barbecue burgers with Barack Obama than with John McCain.

Wife

I don't think that his Edwards' wife beside him in that video.

P.J.

It certainly is his wife on the left side of him in the video. If you let the video play for a few seconds it will zoom out and you can clearly see his wife standing next to him. You can also click on the menu on the screen and select Full Screen.

I downloaded the video using the Firefox addon DownloadHelper, a terrific Firefox addon that gives you the ability to download videos from many sites.

C'mon guys!  The MSM wouldn't have touched this if it were a sex scandal about some upstanding Republican like say, Larry Craig....er, never mind.
