As has been noted by NewsBusters correspondents Brent Baker, Kyle Drennen, and Clay Waters, the Mainstream Media has mostly assumed an attitude of respectful awe towards Barack Obama's March 18 speech on race. That emotional awe towards Obama's speech has reached the level of mass weeping in the Leftwing blogosphere. The leftists profess to be so awestruck by that speech that it seems mass crying will soon replace the fainting attacks at future Obama appearances.
Confessions of drama queen tearful reactions to Obama's speech has reached comedic proportions on both the Democratic Underground and the Daily Kos. Although one suspects that these confessions of tearduct flooding at the sound of Obama's voice may be a bit contrived, it doesn't detract from the hilarity of the comments. First a sampling of weeping confessions from the Democratic Underground:
If you didn't cry, someone needs to check your pulse. It was a speech that christens an era.
i started to tear up while reading the text on my phone at a restaurant. i had to stop reading it.
I called in sick so I could watch it. I was seen crying in my recliner. My tough husband--who didn't cry when his father died--came home from work and blubbered like a baby.
He's too good for us
Not to be outdone by the DUers, the denizens of the Daily Kos confessed to their own mass weepings:
I wept while reading Obama's speech. Then I wept again while watching it. I have teared up again and again reading the many personal accounts of how Obama's words have caused change and healing.
Barack Obama...has made this grown man cry more times than I care to admit.
I haven't stopped crying since the speech. Off and on, all day, in the car, at the sink, at the desk....I just break out in tears.
I cried, like everyone else, but the chills came first.
You can read a more complete collection of these teardrop confessions at the DUmmie FUnnies here and here. One fringe benefit of the left trying to convince themselves of the supposed profundity of Obama's speech by making public avowals of uncontrollable weeping is that it has inspired a terrific song parody by the DUmmie FUnnies co-host, Charles Henrickson, who wrote "The Lib'ral White Crowd That Cried" to the tune of Johnny Ray's The Little White Cloud That Cried:
I was thinking, "Down goes Obama"
Feeling Barry's sure to slide
When all at once I saw, filled with drama
The lib'ral white crowd that criedThey told me they believe what he preaches
And no one cares what he tries to hide
They said sometimes just warm fuzzy speeches
Make all the lib'ral crowds cryThey said Barack will solve all our issues
Heal our souls, still all our fears
Don't ask how, just pass us the tissues
Our eyeballs flow with tearsThey asked me why the rest of the voters
Don't believe, their eyeballs are dry
That's how I know that come this November
The lib'ral white crowd will sit right down and cry

What the heck is wrong with these people?
He's a politician, for heaven's sake. An exceptionally skilled one, granted, but a politician, nonetheless. He made this speech to cover his butt for his Pastor Wright screw-up. He deftly turned the converstation from his own hypocrisy to the old "we need to have a conversation about race" and they swallowed the line, with hook and sinker; the hook baited with liberal white guilt.
He plays these liberals like Liberace played a Steinway!
What they need is a colossal gang-slap and a firm "Get ahold of yourselves!"

March 20, 2008 - 22:14 ET by Captain KirockWe all know where this is heading. The State Dept. is thoroughly saturated with liberals & Clintonites who routinely try to usurp democracy.

Surprise, surprise.
Liberal Media Enablers
March 20, 2008 - 22:20 ET by Oscar GoldmanThe liberal media fails to ask the most obvious question. How does the Obama campaign make such baseless accusations when it has already been reported that the State Department's own internal systems snared these individuals for unauthorized access. The "Administration" caught this incident.
Let's place odds that the media will not report the party affiliation of those involved unless they are Republicans. Would it not be simply ironic if those involved were Obama supporters?

Don't forget that the MSM blamed Bush for hurricanes in Florida in 2004 and the flu.
Seriously, remember in 2003/2004 when they blamed Bush for the flu? When the vaccines from England were unusable & it was Bush's fault that there were not enough flu vaccines? And the MSM breathlessly reported that a quarter of the population under 3 and over 70 was going to die because Bush failed to provide enough flu vaccines?
Absolutely astounding.

The employees were contractors - they are expendable. Having worked with contractors they have no rights. All is needed is an accusation and a phone call from the government contract rep to the company rep. Those guys are outta here so fast you'd think their butts were on fire. I dont know if these contractors really did what they are accused of or not but the fact is they were accused. That's enough. When I worked for DOD, I saw this happen on a regular basis. Some contractor looked at you cross-eyed? He's outta here. No notice, no questions asked. If his company cant place him on another contract, he's let go. We lost some good competant people like this.

I have spent the last few days visiting other blogs because I was curious to see if their were different ideas being bandied about concerning Obama and his race speech. Basically, it's all pretty much the same except for one rather ominous detail.... The lefties are actually trying to make the argument that all this race talk from Obama is all our (Republicans) fault. I was born here on earth, so could somebody explain this out of this world example? Please?

As such, we evil, manipulative conservatives are the reason that Obama stayed a member of that church for twenty years.

March 21, 2008 - 01:09 ET by austinhookAfter all, many on the left do not believe that people are responsible for their own actions. It is ALWAYS someone else's fault.
Conversly....
And when they can't catch Osama, they blame it on Mullah Omar, and when they can't catch him, they blame it on Saddam, and when hanging Saddam doesn't solve the problem they blame it on Ahmadinejad, and when they can't convince the nation to start a war with Iran, they blame the liberals in the intelligence agencies for undermining the President's leadership, and when the President's leadership itself finally shows through as a persitant unmitigated disaster, they get ready to dump him, and blame it on his not really having been a conservative all along.
Well, I guess us libertarians are no better, we blame it all on the flim-flam game between the conservatives and liberals that worships ideology over practicality.

March 21, 2008 - 10:15 ET by Dee BunkIt's easy to blame. There will always be problems in the world no matter who runs things. If you pick a political party that will never be in power than you are safe to blame blame blame.
Anything that government does will have negative and positive implications so people who want to complain will always have something to complain about. If we didn't go into Iraq and Al Quaeda joined up with Saddam and attacked us then that would be all GWB's fault for not going in.
It's easy to be a critic of everything. It's hard to take a stance that supports a strategy with known negative consequences. Every action that government takes will have both negative and positive effects. The blamers will always have an easy target. It's pointless to talk about problems with a strategy without talking about the problems with the alternative.

When I hear Obama Speak
March 21, 2008 - 12:30 ET by Oscar GoldmanI think of my brave ancestors who fled Eastern Europe and the Mediterranean as socialism and tyranny took hold around the turn of the last century. My grandfather, a merchant, came the US penniless and he so distrusted government, when eligible, he refused to collect social security.
Would I flee? Where would I take my family? I love the USA, but socialism has taken hold. Obama would only accelerate the USA into its abyss. No matter how much I love the USA, I refuse to live under the oppression and tyranny of socialism.
