Miley Cyrus Loses Vogue Cover Due to Raunchy VMA Performance

Is it possible in the year 2013 a singer simulating sex acts on national television will actually be penalized for her behavior?

Before you reflexively answer "No," consider that following her raunchy performance at last month's MTV Video Music Awards, Miley Cyrus has lost her planned cover on December's Vogue.

According to Britain's Daily Mail, the decision was made by editor Anna Wintour.

Apparently Wintour was excited to champion the talented 20-year-old as a new fashion icon, and the pictures had already been taken in preparation for the early winter issue.

That changed after the VMAs.

"Anna found the whole thing distasteful," a source told the Mail. "She decided, based on Miley’s performance, to take the cover in a different direction."

Will others decide Cyrus doesn't fit into their plans, or is Wintour an outlier?

Stay tuned.

*****Update: Apparently the folks at NBC didn't find Cyrus's performance too distasteful. She'll be hosting and performing on Saturday Night Live on October 5.

That'll teach her!
