Letterman Asks NBC's Brian Williams: 'Are There Gay Justices on the Supreme Court?'

CBS Late Show host David Letterman asked NBC Night News anchor Brian Williams what some might consider a bizarre question Tuesday evening.

"Are there gay justices on the Supreme Court?" (video follows with transcribed highlights and commentary):

Williams replied, "No, there are not."

"How do you know?" Letterman jokingly pressed.

When Williams just glared at his host without responding, Letterman realized how foolish he was being and said, "I don’t know. I’m sorry. I shouldn’t. I’m sorry. You’re a true journalistic and war hero, and I’m just a dumbass."

I'm not sure about Williams being a war hero, but as for the rest of Letterman's declaration...
