Ed Schultz: Augusta Should Have Admitted Michelle Obama and Hillary Clinton Instead of Condi Rice

The Augusta National Golf Club did an amazing thing Monday: it finally admitted women as members, with one of them being African-American Condoleezza Rice.

But that wasn’t good enough for MSNBC’s Ed Schultz who whined on his program later that evening that Michelle Obama and Hillary Clinton should have received this honor instead (video follows with transcribed highlights and commentary):

“Is this really change they can believe in,” Schultz said following a commercial break.

After reporting what most thought was good news to his viewers, Schultz noted presumptive Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney’s congratulations to Rice via Twitter.

“Mitt Romney has finally found a women’s rights issue that he can stand up for and support: Augusta National letting two rich women in to play,” Schultz snarked.

“The boys out at Augusta could really break the glass ceiling a little bit better if they were to say bring in Michelle Obama, Hillary Clinton.” he continued.

“There’s no doubt that Augusta National did the right thing by admitting women members, but we all know that the club has a long way to go,” Schultz said. “Is it change they can believe in? I hope so.”

And there you have it. Because Augusta didn’t let in liberal women that Schultz admires, this decision wasn’t good enough.

Which means that for folks like this disgusting MSNBC commentator, it's not about advancing women and minorities; it's about advancing liberal women and liberal minorities.

Conservative women and conservative minorities just don't count.

And he has his own show on radio and television to disseminate such a deplorable view.
