Maher: Ryan 'Smartest Guy in GOP,' Palin 'Stupidest Woman on Earth, But They Agree on Everything'

Bill Maher made it clear Tuesday that when Real Time returns from vacation on HBO this Friday, Paul Ryan will be a prime target of his attacks.

Speaking with the Huffington Post, the typically stoned comedian said, "This is the intellectual?...Somehow he's the smartest guy in the Party and [Sarah Palin's] the stupidest woman on earth, but they agree on everything" (video follows with transcript and commentary):

BILL MAHER: Paul Ryan is right in my sights there because I am, you know, I heard Joe Biden the other day say, “What’s gutsy about his plan?” Which is what I’ve been saying way back when Paul Ryan first presented his plan. “Why is the media go after this idea he’s so gutsy and he’s bold? What is gutsy about this plan? And why is he the intellectual of the Republican Party?

He has, from what I can see, two ideas. One, let’s stop having rich people pay taxes at all, and poor people should look for food in the woods. This is the intellectual? He’s a step up from Sarah Palin? Actually, you know, he’s more articulate than Sarah Palin. Tell me one area where he and Sarah Palin would disagree. I cannot find one area. So somehow he's the smartest guy in the Party and she's the stupidest woman on earth, but they agree on everything,

Actually, Ryan's plan neither eliminates all taxes for rich people nor takes anything away from poor people, but Palin's "the stupidest woman on earth."

Sadly, on today's left, this is what passes for not only comedy but also intellect.

And you wonder why so many of this ilk fell so easily for Hope and Change.

Compounding matters for Maher, while plenty of his kind have realized in the past three and a half years they got snookered, this brainiac went all in giving a million dollars to the charlatan from Chicago.

And he's got the nerve to call anyone stupid.
