Kochs Counter Galifianakis: 'Laughable to Take Guidance From Guy Who Makes Obscene Gestures With Monkey'

As NewsBusters previously reported, actor Zach Galifianakis on Monday attacked the Koch brothers saying "They are creepy" and 'It’s not freedom what they are doing."

Philip Ellender, President of Government and Public Affairs, Koch Companies Public Sector, LLC, responded to this nonsense via email moments ago:

"Last we checked, the movie is a comedy. Maybe more to the point is that it’s laughable to take political guidance or moral instruction from a guy who makes obscene gestures with a monkey on a bus in Bangkok. We disagree with his uninformed characterization of Koch and our beliefs. His comments, which appear to be based on false attacks made by our political opponents, demonstrate a lack of understanding of our longstanding support of individual freedom, freedom of expression, and constitutional rights."

For those unfamiliar with the reference, Galifianakis in Hangover II made such a sexual gesture with a monkey, a water bottle, and an old man.

Yet as he told the New York Daily News Monday, he believes he's superior to others:

“A lot of times, these ‘regular people’ have good intentions, but they are not that qualified,” he says. “I think Marty [his character in his new film] would be a Tea Party kind of guy, which is so old-fashioned but also kind of tough for me to support. I understand Tea Partyers’ anger with the system, but they are in way over their heads and often racially motivated, and I can’t be part of that.”

So to Galifianakis, Tea Party members "are in way over their heads and often racially motivated." Meanwhile, comedians such as him are far more intelligent:

“The reason comedy got really big in the last few years is because of politics,” he says. “Comics have great B.S. detectors. When the Iraq war started 10 years ago, the folk singers were no longer around to point out that maybe we shouldn’t be all gung-ho about this. It was the comedians who filled that role.

“The comedians are the first to rebel against a corrupt system, like the one that is preventing me from watching the Olympics right now.”

You got that?

Tea Party members "are in way over their heads and often racially motivated," but “Comics have great B.S. detectors."

Apparently, this comic's "B.S. detector" is either malfunctioning, doesn't work on its owner, or both.
