MSNBC Host Asks Brother of Colorado Shooting Victim How His Dead Sister Is Doing

NewsBusters has been for years exposing the breathtaking ignorance, incompetence, and unprofessionalism of the on air personalities associated with the so-called cable "news network" MSNBC.

On Monday, Michael Eric Dyson, filling in for Ed Schultz, actually asked the brother of one of the victims of Friday's shootings in Aurora, Colorado, how his dead sister is doing (video follows with transcript and commentary):

MICHAEL ERIC DYSON, SUBSTITUTE HOST: Obviously, this has been a very difficult time for the families of the victims. Joining me now is Jordan Ghawi, his sister Jessica was killed in Friday's shooting in Aurora, Colorado.

Jordan, thank you so much for joining us, and I'm so incredibly sorry for your incredible loss.

JORDAN GHAWI, BROTHER OF JESSICA GHAWI: Hearing her story and the rest of the victims.

DYSON: Look, you got a phone call from your mother on Friday morning telling you about the shooting. Tell us what was going through your head when you first heard that news.

GHAWI: I immediately flipped into the mode that I've been trained for and remained calm and try to obtain more information and see what I could do for my mother and check on the status of my sister.

DYSON: Well, how are your mother and sister, by the way?

GHAWI: My mother and father are devastated, as am I, but this is about her right now.

DYSON: Right. And I'm sorry, I meant your mother and your father.

We at NewsBusters obviously don't agree with MSNBC's conscious decision to move its programming further and further to the left, but is it possible for those involved with this disgrace of a "news network" to at least try to find liberals that actually have some journalism and television experience so that the sickeningly biased broadcasts will be presented with a modicum of professionalism and dignity?

Or is that asking too much?

Sheesh!

Post facto opinion:

For those in the comments section pointing out this was an obvious slip of the tongue by Dyson, of course that's the case. He didn't intentionally make this gaffe. No one would.

The point is that MSNBC seems more interested in the politics of its on air personalities than their competence.

Al Sharpton is a fine example. There's absolutely no reason on earth this man has his own television show.

Since getting the position, he's demonstrated a deplorable lack of expertise and journalistic acumen. Frankly, at times his performance has been laughable, so much so that NBC's Saturday Night Live has done entire skits mocking him.

But he gets a pass because of his politics.

Weekend hosts Melissa Harris-Perry and Chris Hayes fit this incompetent bill as well.

An anchor desk shouldn't be where commentators are groomed - not at a real news network more concerned with its product than its politics.

Yet this is what MSNBC is doing, and as a result, as hard as it may be to believe, the quality of its programming is declining even further.
