Time Mag Editor: 'Only Thing Weaker Than the Economy Is Romney's Electoral Skills'
"The only thing weaker than the economy is Mitt Romney's electoral skills."
Such was actually said on CBS's Face the Nation Sunday by Rana Foroohar, Time magazine's assistant managing editor in charge of economics and business (video follows with transcript and commentary):
BOB SCHIEFFER, HOST: Let me-- let me go to Rana because you-- you wrote something very interesting the other day. You said that since 1967 when consumer confidence is as low as it is right now the incumbent is always defeated. Does that mean this thing is already over?
RANA FOROOHAR (TIME Magazine): Well, you know, I actually think that we're on the verge of a historic upset. That's true, the statistic that you just gave. And it would make you think that Obama has no chance of winning this election. But I think this election is going to hinge on middle-class pain. I think that people know that what's happened in the last four years have not been down to Obama's policies, it's about globalization, it's about the rise of technology. Each recovery since the early 1990s has been weaker and taken longer than the one before. So this is a-- this is a twenty-year problem. This is not a three- or four-year problem and I think that whoever can best speak to the middle-class is the person that's going to win.
BOB SCHIEFFER: Well, what do you mean when you say a historic upset?
RANA FOROOHAR: Well, I think that traditionally if you had consumer confidence numbers that were this weak and growth that was this low, there would be no chance that the incumbent is going to win, but, frankly, I think the only thing weaker than the economy is Mitt Romney's electoral skills. And I think he hasn't really put himself in a good position for this debate over the middle class.
"The only thing weaker than the economy is Mitt Romney's electoral skills."
And this woman has an editing function at Time.
Pretty scary, don't you think?

The only thing keeping Obama

The only thing keeping Obama chance's alive is the propaganda the media constantly spews. If he got the Bush treatment, he would have stepped down by now.

She will be in the boss' office first thing Monday morning being reprimanded for going off message and admitting that the economy is weak.

Mitt Romney still hasn't asked about the murders of more than 200 Mexican citizens with guns supplied by the CEO of America, Barack Obama.
If we're going to talk mismanagement and intrigue, let's ask the President of Mexico if he was aware of President Obama's Atty General's arming anti-government forces within Mexico's borders.
If Bain created one more job than it outsourced, we need to move on to discussing this Administration assisting with stacking up Mexican bodies like cordwood.
I don't know about you, but if Fast & Furious was a unilateral operation, President Obama owes Mexico a serious apology.
The real question is why
Submitted by Reaver on Sun, 07/15/2012 - 6:53pm.
The real question is why isn’t Romney leading by ten points at this time and I think the main reason comes down to the suck up media that would rather talk about Romney’s Cayman Island accounts than fast and furious or solyndra or the economy. “I think that people know that what's happened in the last four years have not been down to Obama's policies, it's about globalization, it's about the rise of technology. Each recovery since the early 1990s has been weaker and taken longer than the one before. So this is a-- this is a twenty-year problem. “ Nothing to see here, nothing to do with Obama, now lets talk about Bain Capital.
➚The big scare
Submitted by Cool Arrow on Sun, 07/15/2012 - 7:00pm.
The big scare is that 47% of America are already on the American dole for more than they contribute. Just a couple more points, and they vote themselves all the paper the Government can print.

I had never heard of Rana before so went looking. Here is an article where she slams WalMart for trying to cover up bribes to Mexican officials to bypass regs and permits....I'm sure that occurs nowhere else in Mexico.
But the kicker is at the end of her story where she writes, "As anyone familiar with Watergate knows, the cover-up is usually worse than the crime."
She's writing a story about Mexico and she has to pull a 40 year old reference to Watergate! She's complicit in the cover up of Fast & Furious along with the rest of the "real journalists."
Revealing a bit more than intended...

Ms. Foroohar accidentally admitted the sad truth: She doesn't care about the substance of a candidate; all that matters is how well they campaign. Obama has presided over, and influenced more than a little, the slow-motion train wreck of our economy? Nope, doesn't matter. She just doesn't like how Romney campaigns, and that's what really matters.
Pathetic doesn't do her justice, and worse is how many more are just like her.

It's funny whenever Obama
Submitted by tcm14 on Sun, 07/15/2012 - 7:13pm.
It's funny whenever Obama has a success, he takes ALL the credit, specifically saying "I" and "MY", but when he fails it's anyone's fault but his. It is a 20-year problem, it is globalization, it is technogy. Never hear him saying "I" and "MY" then.
What this tootsie meant to
Submitted by Chris Norman on Sun, 07/15/2012 - 7:33pm.
What this tootsie meant to say is that it's a twenty year economic problem - less the eight year hiatus when Bush was president - because it's still his fault.
She'll be horrified later when she realizes she inadvertently excused Bush while trying to absolve her leader.

Of all the nuanced details I want people to understand about every niggling detail of the presidential race and this woman expects the public to understand that Romney is just an expensive suit. Dr. Pangloss, thy new name is Foroohar. For the record that is the weirdest sentence I have ever typed.
